Praising in public is to be expected. Words need to be chosen carefully though. Which is where Jerry often inserts foot.

“ All In” when your negotiating is showing your hand.

But this is where Jerry wearing both hats of owner and GM is often a conflict of interest between promoting your product and negotiating a players contract.

You don't need to "criticize" Dak - again, the fact that you folks can't think of ANY other way than thinking in either/or's shows the lack of imagination.

How hard is it to just mention that you liked what you've seen of Dak the past few years and you're excited to see what happens in 2019? This is better than, in the middle of a contract negotiation where you want a TEAM FRIENDLY DEAL, you say you're already sold.

Jerry just spouts off. He's been doing this for decades and it really has never led to good. This is the same dude who thought it was a good idea to allow strippers to take pictures of him in a bathroom.
Yep because he’s a Promoter 1st. His words set us up for an explanation later if it doesn’t work out. But that’s how salesman and promoters operate. Sell sell sell

If it’s a lemon we’ll blame someone for the Lynch Mob to hang and sell a new bill of goods next year.

Why people on here or any cross section of the fans/public thinks he or any other owner/GM/coach/manager etc owes us any candid answer is beyond me. Or why they would say any differently if they happened to think differently, thereby throwing their player under thus bus publicly.

I am excited this season. I hope Dak shows what he can do with a stronger line, new group of wrs, and Moore's new and improved offense.

Great thing to say before he plays his 4th season. Glad to have Jerry and Stephen running this team....

You don’t think a lot of teams have felt this about QBs going into their 4th season? Jerry may be wrong about Dak (or not), but let’s at least be fair and acknowledge that 3 seasons is not unusual for a team to decide they are committed to a QB.

Praise in public, criticize in private.

The fact that Jerry speaks kindly about his players in public doesn't automatically mean he's unwilling to offer criticism in private. Good managers don't publicly criticize their employees. Even when cutting Dez Bryant a couple of years ago, the Cowboys spoke well of him publicly. Nothing wrong with that. Jerry doesn't owe fans access to his innermost thoughts.
Please tell me you’re not saying JJ is a “good manager.”

The numbers they have to be talking about to extend Dak already shows their hand. If they weren’t committed to Dak they wouldn’t even be talking in the same ballpark.

Doesn’t the owner talking like this also hurt the development for any competition at QB?

I mean Garrett hears this and what chance does a backup QB have in Dallas of any meaningful playtime.

This should not be surprising to anybody at this point...

The fact that it does surprise people, should not surprise people either. Even though they are stupid to be surprised !!!

Any backup qb has to shine in preseason games. That's how dak earned his job.

As long as they get Dak for a reasonable price , after this year . I say let him prove what he can do this year . If this cowboys don’t reach the SB or at least the conf championship game , then jason should be gone and a new coach should be given a chance to pick his own Qb .

Romo was the only reason we even had a decade. Now we have this juggernaut roster with nobody in the cockpit.
Hahahahhaha “juggernaut roster” ahahahahahahaha

Worst WR corps in the NFL before the Cooper trade upgraded them to average.

No TE to speak of.

Average OL with all the injuries.

Defense that completely collapsed vs the Rams.

“DURRR DAK SUX!!! JUGGERNAUT ROSTER AND HE BLEW IT!!”

They were sold on Romo too. Waste of a decade
Romo was a SB caliber QB. It wasn't his fault he never had a complete SB caliber team around him. Always something lacking. We have a much more talent cumulation of players now and Dak is the perfect guy to lead them to a SB victory.

Jerry was excited about Hutchinson, and even more so about Drew Henson.

Parcells laughed, chose Quincy Carter for the interim, then went with an undrafted rookie in the end.

Jerry knows NOTHING about quarterbacks.
Uhhh, Jerry drafted Quincy Carter. He also drafted Troy Aikman and Dak Prescott.
