Either you think extremely high of Witten or extremely low of the Others but the Witten signing was atrocious IMO and I have him as one of my top 10 cowboys all time I love what he did for the organization but his inability to spread field and separate was part of why teams would stack box his holds were more frequent and I got tired of his 5 yard ins when we needed 8

That’s your opinion. Jarwin caught all 5 passes throw his way in the playoffs and he looked really good in the last game. He definitely showed speed that escaped Witten a long time ago. I’m not a Witten hater like some on this board. I think Witten will contribute his veteran skills like he should, but folks are throwing a wet blanket on Jarwin/Schultz. They shouldn’t, I believe we have a formidable TE position. Maybe not the best, but definitely a nice balance of veteran presence and young potential.

I think he's going to surprise a lot of fans.......wisdom, knowledge, and experience can go a long way. Sure he's old but he was never fast. One thing hasn't changed his ability to read defenses and find soft spots. In fact, it would not surprise me one bit if he could dissect a D just as good as Tony Romo. We don't need him to be all world ( only so many balls), just move a few chains and improve our red zone.

A wide range. Could be a good chunk less than the mid 260s he used to play at.
Smaller, faster, quicker makes sense, but we had those guys in Jarwin and Schultz already. I was hoping to get better blocking with the Witten addition. That's where we're light.

Schultz (244 lbs.) came into the NFL too light to play the position - much like Connor Williams. I'm really looking forward to seeing his progress after spending a year with the trainers and adding bulk. It would be great to find out he's added 10-15 lbs. to his frame.

Even if his snaps are reduced in a tight end rotation, it makes sense to place our future Hall of Famer first on an unofficial depth chart. Witty will play a huge roll with our young TE's.

Witten has always been a conscientious sort about getting himself into as good a condition as possible. Of course, that's certainly not to suggest that he's contending for a speed and quickness prize or anything of the kind. Is he still a clever, wily and capable 3rd down target? It's a good bet he is.
His grit and knack of getting open has always been his calling card. I'd say it's quite possible that he has yet another year left in the tank. Witt can and will likely also be a valued link in schooling our youngsters to compete as winners. He should rightly have some willing listeners, if they're wise.
