If he gets hurt he gets hurt, but clearly this is the best case scenario.

He took less money and is not taking snaps away from LVE.

It’s fantastic news

I love SL. But they better give a lot of reps in TC to the three guys who'll be in there when he goes down, and he will go down. I don't what to be in mid season and suddenly have no cohesiveness in the LB unit.

This essentially means he'll barely be on the field, limiting him to a role as a two-down linebacker.

Shame for a guy who, at one point, was one of the better coverage LB's in the game but at least maybe he'll survive the season.

I'm not sure I see the wisdom of this move. While it's great that Lee will be on the field, everything they've tried to do for years was to get him away from blocking and contact as much as possible in an effort to keep him healthy. It's why they moved him from the middle to WLB, and even that hasn't worked. This looks to be throwing him to the wolves and letting him worry about staying healthy going up against tight ends and offensive linemen.

I'll try to be optimistic that they know what they're doing.

We all owe Sean to be respectful towards him, he earned it over the years. People talk about him as if his career has been a sore spot here.

I’ll take two-downs-a-series of Sean Lee over anyone else we currently have at SLB.

The only question will be his health.

He took a pay cut to stay with the team. And has given this team everything he has. You don’t deserve to be a fan.

Nobody in the NFL “deserves” to be a starter. That’s not how the league works.

The best players are supposed to start. If you want to actually win a championship that is. If that is Lee, that’s great. But he shouldn’t be “promised” to be a starter. He should only start if he proves he is the best for the job through training camp. Lee was hobbled all last season and not playing well for the most part. It sucks, but it’s the truth. He is pretty old for an NFL LB.

I wasn’t even disrespecting Lee with my comment.

And “I don’t deserve to be a fan”. That makes zero sense and is just a stupid, whiny retort.

When he's healthy, he's a starting tier LB. May no longer be in the running for a top 3/5 4-3 backer, but he's still stout non the less.
So, when the team puts 3 LBs on the field, he will be out there, if healthy. Joe Thomas, Covington JML aren't beating him out this year. Lets be real.

Should have been the move last year. Day late par for the course with this staff.

Yall sure do pick and choose the players to be respectful towards

Agree.

There should be a top 10 list of ridiculous threads on this board.

#1. Don't pay Zeke
#2. We need a S with picks 1-3
#3 its Dez's fault Dak can't throw
#4. It was all Romo's fault
#5. ColeB was terrible and we are glad he's gone

Etc. Etc.

I swear...this team could have 25 pro bowlers....and still find a way to screw this up. The last thing I want to see is Sean Lee trying to cover a TE in space. Why do you think he has been the weakside LBer all these years??? Because he can't cover!!!!:banghead:

Too many posters (not you) go off of reputation rather than actually paying attention to how players play. Sean Lee is one of my favorite Cowboys players and has been truly outstanding when he has played. But last year to say his play fell off of a cliff is really an understatement. Sean Lee sucked last year.

Offensive coordinators admitted scheming to get a matchup against him. That says volumes about his inability to play up to his prior level. He was a serious liability in all phases of the game, especially the passing game

I will go one step farther and say that having Lee around may turn out to be a serious liability this year, because like a Witten, you know they are going to play him out of respect for his past history to the detriment of the team’s performance this year.

I bet he feels hamstrung by this.

I'm not so sure that the SAM lb'er will happen. The goal was to keep him out of traffic and reduce risk of injury when he was moved to WIL. Most of this chatter is just speculation. There is absolutely no reason, when he's healthy, that Lee can't play a significant roll on the field.
