That was before QBs like Wilson started signing 35+mill dollar deals...

Honestly Id be ecstatic if we can get a deal done at around 26-28mill a year... The cap will keep going up and guys like Pat mahomes is fixing to break Wilsons deal and prbly get closer to 40mill a year
IMHO, Dak wants to be a Cowboy for life.

If that’s the case, I can see him signing for less than $30mil per...especially if he believes the Joneses will tighten him up on his next contract.

Meanwhile, 10+ true franchise QBs will be available to the Cowboys via the draft before they will be able to get out of this impending debacle of a contract.

Not to interrupt the people in complete meltdown, but guaranteed money and the potential value of a contract that includes incentives are wildly different things.

A contract that is something like 5 years of 80 million guaranteed but 150 Million if he hits every possible incentive is a great deal for both sides.

You may now continue freaking out.

I figure that the team will likely try to guarantee just three years like they did with Lawrence and give themselves an out if things should somehow go south.

I hope you a correct. But I don't have that much faith in Jerry.

These threads are ridiculous. Who cares who gets paid first or how much. The bottom line is our players will get paid. And you ALL know that.
Note the word "could" gentlemen. Could does not mean will and $26 mil is "approaching". Depends on your impressions of "could" and "approaching"
:lmao2:Note the word "gentlemen". Thank you ma'am, for clarifying.

I'm thinking $27-29M with additional $2M incentives that would allow him to hit the $30M

BTW....Not sure I believe the report on Coop deal. His deal shouldn't be that hard at all.
Hell if his floor is $16M, he's only $2.1M from being the high paid WR in the league after OBJ $18M per.

The Cowboys are trying to sign quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper to contract extensions and word is that things are moving more smoothly on one front than the other.

Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys have made more progress in their talks with Prescott than they have with Cooper at this point in the process. Hill notes that a deal with Prescott would make the quarterback the highest-paid player in team history and team owner Jerry Jones reiterated the team’s comfort with that during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show Monday

not surprised at all this is what jerry and his son said they would do and they will also sign cooper they will have to they don't have a choice but if dak never takes the team further than they have gone over the last few years it will come to bite the jones just like the decision on Jason garrett

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly working toward a contract extension with quarterback Dak Prescott that would "approach $30 million annually."

Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported the update Tuesday and noted the Cowboys have made "more progress" toward a new deal with Prescott than with wide receiver Amari Cooper, whose demands have been "shockingly high."

Hill also noted the Cowboys "seem to be nonplussed" about making Prescott the highest-paid player in franchise history.

I think this is because the pay scale for where Dak should fall has been established, much like it was for Lawrence. Wilson's contract set the tone for negotiations.

With Cooper, where does he fall? He's definitely the No. 1 and valued for us, but how does he compare with other No. 1 receivers. He and his agent are most likely trying to sell him as worth Odell Beckham ($18 million) or Antonio Brown ($16.8 million) money. Dallas probably wants him to take less than Sammy Watkins got last year ($16 million per year). So Dallas is probably in the range of $14 million or $15 million per year and Cooper's agents around $17 million to $18 million. It may be hard to get them to come off the Brown range, but Dallas should be ultimately looking at paying him around $16.5 million per year.

Beckham got $65 million guaranteed (five-year deal), but Brown and Watkins only got $30 million guaranteed on three-year deals, so it wouldn't surprise me if Cooper is looking for a higher guarantee, either, maybe more in the $40 million range, but if he's going to get that, we need at least a four-year deal and to bring his average down some (to around $16 million — which would be better than Watkins because of the higher guarantee).

Sounds like the origin of the story is the agent, with the focus being on the lack of progress on Coopers extension.

Neither do I, that's why I hope it's his Cheapo son who's negotiating this one without Dad's input.
Even though they've both been blithering idiots talking to damn much singing Dak's praises whenever a microphone is shoved in their face? Come on now.... Dak's going to get whatever he wants because of our mom and pop outfit here.
