Cutting Hurns would free up $5 million in cap space and would allow for some additional cap space for extending Cooper.

Give Cooper a larger cap hit this year in order to lower his cap hit for the next 4-5 years.

We saw what he did for this team last year.

He's worth it.

Get a deal done asap.

It's going to require a 5 year, 100M contract for Cooper.

The 1 year, 5M for Hurns won't affect Coopers contract.

I don't expect Hurd to make the roster but not because of cap issues per se.

The top 3 WRs are Cooper, Gallup and Cobb.

These players will be competing for 2 or 3 roster spots:
Hurns - Returning from nasty leg break.
Cedrick Wilson - 2018 draft pick.
Tavon Austin - Speed and Punt Returner
Noah Brown - They love his blocking.
Devin Smith - Jets 2nd 2015, Has ability if healthy.
Jaylon Guyton - UDFA with elite speed.
Jon-vea Johnson - UDFA with elite speed.

Also RB/WR Tony Pollard likely plays some snaps as a WR (i.e On the field with Zeke). In college he played more snaps than not with starting RB Darrell Henderson also on the field.

Not with rookie signings and using 53, instead of top 51.

Rookies and the additional 2 minimum contracts adds roughly $1.5M to the cap. That's a drop in the bucket and a far cry from 5M in space.

Well...no. Figure $800k for 10 players, and you're at $11m.

I was just ballparking $5m, it doesn't matter. Don't miss the forest for the trees...

yes they do

Rookies take around 600k
PSquad takes 1.3m
Going to 53 sometimes adds space depending who gets cut but it can only cost 1.2m at most

That is 3m leaving DAL with 16.5m right now

I think ACooper get 6/99m...... a 5/85m extension

DAL has a soft spot for Hurns and I think he returns...... he is already healthy and running routes from what I heard

I think they keep 6 WRs with Hurns, CWilson and TAustin

No, that is way off.

I created a thread that explains the costs of draft picks, the rule of 51, practice squad costs, etc..

The primary issue is that when the cap hits for draft picks are added, the cap hits for players they replace on the top 51 (or top 53) are removed from the current cap space figures.

This year the Cowboys Cap Space will only decrease by about 400K when the draft picks are signed.

The draft picks, players 52 & 53 plus the practice squad will only decrease the current cap space by about 3M.

That's only 17M per on the extension.

Cooper will get at least the 18M AAV that OBJ is getting, IMO.

That was mainly because the Jaguars did nothing but throw the ball that year and most of his production came in garbage time.

Let’s dive in.
Garbage time insinuates they had no chance to win so we’ll say games they lost by more than two scores.
And I’ll only include the stats he put up in games they won or lost by less than the two scores.

So that was 14/16 games that year.
In the two games they got blown out, he totaled 87 yards and 1 TD.

So 944 yards and 9 TDS in the games that they either won or lost by 13 or fewer.

That’s better than anything Beasley ever did.

Don’t forget the jags actually won more games than us that season too.

It doesn't matter. I pulled a quick number out of my rear to illustrate a point.

Yes, it does matter. The number you pulled out of your rear was wildly inaccurate. While your point was correct, being so inaccurate de-emphasizes it.

No. They have cap space, and Amari's cap number will go down, so they have the room to re-sign him.
