No, he wasn't Romo's backup. I suggest you do some serious research on Kellen Moore. You have no idea who he is.

Moore went undrafted, then spent three seasons in Detroit and never played in a game. He was the 3rd-string QB behind Dan Orlovsky.

Linehan brought him here to be the 3rd-string guy, first behind Brandon Weeden and then Matt Cassel.

He played three games in 2015 after Romo broke his collar bone for the second time that season. (Actually, it wasn't healed and he tried to play with it.)

He entered 2016 listed as the 2nd-stringer for the first time in his career. He broke his leg on August 2nd, just a few days into camp, and Dak took over.
So Kellen Moore WAS Romo's backup?

Got it. You made my point.

I'll never forget that scene on Hard Knocks when our village idiot GM was on the phone talking about the very real possibility that he has two franchise QBs in Quincy Carter and Chad Hutchinson.

Then they cut to the next scene of Pete Hunter trying to order a cheesesteak at McDonald's.

Those two guys might be pretty good at running a McDonalds.

I'm not arguing that Prescott should get what Wilson got. I do think, though, that his agents will try to use the fact that he's just going into his fourth year as a negotiating tool to try to make the argument that he deserves similar money.

I think I've made it clear that I do not believe that he does. But I do think his cost is going to settle in somewhere between what Russell got and what players like Matthew Stafford and Kirk Cousins are making. I think Prescott's side will be pushing for $32-$33 million while Dallas wants to keep him at $30 million or less.

I agree that Prescott won't get Wilson or Big Ben type money but I don't think much of an agent that tries to use he's just starting his 4th season as some kind of ploy to get more money. That means very little that he's starting his 4th season. In fact that might actually work against Prescott because in the 1st 3 seasons there wasn't even a trip the the NFC championship game let alone the Super Bowl. Everybody, his agent and the Cowboys, know he's in the last year of his rookie contract. Age will be more of an issue when his 3rd contract comes up and even then what he and the Cowboys have done during that time will have a big part on where that contract ends up. As for using Stafford, he didn't get the contract he got now until his 9th season. The contract after his rookie contract he was in the 15 mil - 17 mil per season when the elite QB's were in the 22 mil - 24 mil range. I don't believe Prescott going to get elite QB money because as I said the Cowboys haven't even got to the NFC championship game yet.

And Jerry has proven time and time again that he knows what it takes to build a winner right?
I'm not sure how someone wouldn't know this, but Jerry isn't the one in charge of building our team anymore. The two currently in power have definitely proven that.
