well if there are no offers on the table and he's going to get "cut" - what difference does it make if they get a taco or a twinkie in return?
Mmm... Twinkie.
Haven't had one of those in like... 12 years?
Mmm... Me want one now. I'm even typing like I'm talking like a caveman!
And cavemen never knew colloquial English!
This is bad...

How’s that ? Where did I say ANYWHERE about progress stopper ?? Nope .. I didn’t but thanks for playing
Progress stopper? But you said you didn't say any of it. So admit that was a lie and have the nerve to attack another poster.

Again I didn’t .. he attacked me with his bs ..

My post ...

“Nice guy ... he will still demand big $$$ .. not sure if he is a fit .. still good for 4-6 sacks and 20-30 tackles ... missed games the past 5 seasons .. 31 years old .. again at big bucks .. pass”

Look, old boys, this team is not a Super Bowl contender. We are 2 years away.
Exo suito dium point blank, we neither need nor want an expensive aging player.
Hollah and brings me a dollah!

I appreciated your comments even if I disagreed. People should try to see common ground, especially mutual Cowboy fans.

Thx.. I don’t get why when someone shares an opinion ; some twist their words .
I never stated that McCoy was a progress stopper nor did I state too much $$ . At the right deal , sure sign him if our coaching will use him correctly ... I simply state that he is still looking for max money as that is what he has been quoting here locally on the air waves etc .

As always, if we sign him, it's a brilliant move and "proof" that this Front Office is committed to winning.

And if we don't sign him, it's also a brilliant move because he is some sort of progress stopper for Trysten Hill and if he was so good why was he available nonsense.

For me, it should always come down to three things:

1. Is he available? It looks like he could be very soon.

2. Is he affordable? That will depend.

3 (and most important) Does he makes us better? I would say yes. He is better and more impactful than Tyrone Crawford, who despite his "likability" is not playing up to his contract. He is better than Trysten Hill (for now) and would make an excellent mentor and 1-2 punch.

If this team where to add McCoy, the national media would definitely feel we took a step closer to competing for a Super Bowl. It doesn't make them right, but it would absolutely be perceived that way.

Yep. Again, cost is a factor here but bringing in McCoy would be a really shrewd move because it helps you in so many ways.

For starters, he's insurance if Hill takes some time to develop. Two, if Hill is a hit, Collins can play some 1T (granted, not his ideal position) which would improve the 1T spot which I think is weak beyond Woods (and frankly, Woods is an OK player to me).

This is a legit 2 deep at DL, especially if Quinn can reclaim some of his former glory:

DE - Lawrence, Taco
DT - McCoy, Hill
DT - Woods, Collins
DE - Quinn, Armstrong

And then you still have guys like Covington and Wise to fight it out at the 5th DT spot, Hyder and others at DE.

One of the reasons that McCoy doesn't have trade value is his contract. If you trade for him then you are on the hook for $13 million because he is going to want that guaranteed for 2019 and no team is willing to add that number. You could extend him and lower the number but he will want a lot of guarantee money for declining performance although still a great player.

Every team that needs a DT is just waiting for his release and then for McCoy it will be where he believe he has the best chance at playoff at his age. Would Dallas pursue him, probably but believe it would be a low ball amount. Could he help, yes, we all know that he could. As to trading Taco or anyone for that matter, Dallas is going to want draft pick(s) in return not a player. (Yes, and that includes a safety)

Regardless of what the fans believe we need or want, they build they way they want and it isn't going to change anytime soon. But I do believe we have a better chance of trying to sign McCoy than trading for a safety that does not fit what the FO or Marinelli want in a safety. JMO.
