Gooooooooooooood Monday Morning Pops and I hope y'all had a fine Mothers Day. I am glad it's over, these holidays, birthdays and anniversary's put me in a weird mood and my emotions bubble under the surface. It's like one of those rumbling slow building storms with thunder in the distance. It never stormed but I did get a little out there in one of the threads and I find if I don't do that, the storm comes. And I get what would have been our 51st anniversary next Friday, the hits just keep on coming.

It is as if this forum serves as some kind of penance for me when the guilts come and I am pressed to acknowledge my mistakes of the past as a possible warning to others. I do not apologize for it, more just try to explain it because I am sure that is puzzles some that see me as a clown poster just screwing around. However, it does help me deal with the guilt of taking so much and so many people for granted.

If just one person reading that thread just stopped an extra moment yesterday to appreciate the day, drink it in and know this will not last forever and I am taking care of myself in the future, then it was worthwhile. However, I don't like myself like that, I do prefer to be the clown just screwing around. Being serious sucks.

Xelda, your words were perfect and "thank you for the gift of you" captured it perfectly. What a wonderful way to express it. And I thank you for your gift of laughter, I depend on you for that.

I hope all you Mothers out there had a great day yesterday. Ours was nice, the weather was good so we were able to BBQ and of course, that was much better.

Jobs, Leon, dbrp, Xelda, zrin, Trouty, ksk, RGV, Coach, RWB, Ranching, SW, John, Jan, Corso and Colo, I hope you are all off to a good start this Monday. Looking forward to the week myself.

Everybody, have a great day!

Afternoon Pops and friends. I had to tend to some business today and it went so much easier than expected. I'm sort of let down right now. Time to focus on other outside projects before it gets too hot. @LeonDixson I discovered the Hori Hori knife to help in my garden area. It's been a great help with several garden projects. I call it my Crocodile Dundee knife. You can find them on Amazon if you're interested. I don't recommend it for Coach and his hydroponic garden. The knife might give him crazy ideas and none of us are close enough to bail him out in a timely fashion.

My brain is swirling with "before it gets too hot" ideas and I'm having a hard time concentrating here. Thank you for the kind words, Coach. I was telling momma and my brother yesterday about some of your grocery store antics and the last ticket you got. My brother isn't a football fan but comes here for the funny stuff. He is acquainted with this CouchCoach character. You're officially famous with non Cowboy Zone people, Coach! You probably already knew that though.

Have a good day everyone.

I looked them up on Amazon and there is a wide selection to choose from. Do you have any tips on what to look for when buying one? I'm getting e-mails from Amazon telling me I haven't ordered anything in the last six hours so maybe I'll spring for one.

Morning, Pops and pen pals. It was another beautiful day yesterday and I spent almost the whole day outside relaxing, sitting on the porch sipping Dr. Pepper and laying out an outdoor "living room" with a water wall under the pine trees. I also built the form for the concrete base for the water wall and reflecting pool. I hope all of you have a great day!

Morning Pops and everyone.

So jealous of all you people with yards and outdoor things to do... man I miss that. Going to be at least another year before I can move at this rate. In the meantime I guess a girl can dream.

Leon, your wife is a lucky and blessed gal. I'm sure she appreciates all you do around there.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning Pops and Zoner Friends.

Perfect weather has returned to the Colorado Front Range - lot's of sunshine with daytime highs in the low 70's and night time how's in the 50's - and we are spending a lot more time in the yard.

When we built our dream retirement home a couple of year's ago, we did so with the idea of minimalizing our "footprint". As much as possible, we replanted every tree impacted by the house construction site and planted native rangeland grass around the front of the house. Despite the abundance of pines, spruce and fir trees, the soil is very thin and poor and precautions must be taken to prevent undo erosion.

This past fall we installed a seies of raised garden beds and, with the new sprinkler and drip system, we should have a good crop of table veggies this summer and fall. The garden, along with all of the flowering plants, must be encased in some type of fencing to protect them from deer, elk, turkey and bears!

Why the nature "lecture"? Colorado is a popular destination for retirees and young couples looking for a better life. It never ceases to amuse and disappoint me to see new families move into the area and try to bring the city with them. From putting green-like yards to large-scale removal of native trees, we are altering the land-scape... And not in a good way.

Not sure what set me off this morning... Especially since I am enjoying another beautiful sunrise. We have a lot to be thankful.

Reminds me of back in the 60's and 70's people with really bad allergies were moving to the arid climate of AZ and bringing their plants and trees with them for comfort.....and their allergies.

Colo, you are a true tree hugger and earth muffin and I salute you and if we don't get more decision makers on board with that we're not going to have an earth worth living on.

Hootchie Mama, how big is that dagger? I've been playing Game of Thrones with a floppy plastic sword and letting my tin foil hat double as my war helmet but I think I am ready for the real thing.

Just curious but what do you need that for in your garden? I know you don't dig snakes but you need a gun because you have to get close to use the knife. You get a gun, you can run back in the house, climb out the attic window to get on the roof and empty the clip at the invading reptile. Probably keep the neighbors out of your garden too.

I gotta tell y'all, this AeroGarden is out of control and off the rails. I pruned it according to the sexy voiced lady on the video and the Genovese and Thai Basil went whoa!!!! love that, let's give this dude more stuff to trim with his cute little trimming scissors. I am thinking of getting a larger one and grow some real stuff and get some overalls, straw hat and maybe a pickup truck or a tractor.

Seriously, if you want year round stuff or don't have the outdoor area for a garden like Gramma, this AeroGarden is the ticket. Now, I've got to figure out what the hell to do with my harvest.

Got my pepper plants on the patio and they're showing signs of life and now that I know when it blooms not to tear them off so I can actually get peppers. Something about getting into the soil, potting soil, that makes a man feel one with the earth. And buying hanging baskets at Home Depot and Lowe's. I may change my moniker to NatureBoy.

I will need to check into this aerogarden thing. I have limited daylight (mornings only) in my apartment and literally ZERO outdoor space. There is a deck considered 'common area' but that means tenants from all 24 units would have access and I wouldn't trust most of them to leave my stuff alone or trust that they wouldn't tamper with it. Just saying... people get crude and lazy when they've had a few adult beverages.

I resent that remark, I do not need a few adult beverages to be crude and lazy. In fact, I am so lazy, I have to work up the energy for the crude part.

This AeroGarden comes with it's own lighting, that's the thing about it, you could put this thing in the dark and it is bright so don't put it in your bedroom. The light stays on 15 hours a day so you could have it on from like 7a-10p and not have the light at night issue.

Morning Pops. Morning Fellas and good morning to any who stop in and say hello today.

Nice day today, here. I hope everyone is, likewise, enjoying decent weather.

Doris Day passed yesterday. I'm sitting here in my chair, grandson is asleep in my lap, listening to Sentimental Journey. RIP to Doris Day, Americas Sweetheart.

Jobs, Leon, dbrp, Xelda, zrin, Trouty, ksk, RGV, Coach, RWB, Ranching, SW, John, Jan, Corso and Colo, I hope all of you are having a wonderful day.

Everyone, the world keeps on turning but its good to be able to take a moment and look back and remember the good moments in life. Here's to all of you having a life full of good moments.

Be well everybody!

@CouchCoach, thanks for the comments.

After spending my entire career working in the oil and gas industry, I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly of my chosen profession. I will always remember my father's sage advice, "if you can't leave things a bit better than you found them, then you had best not start".

While I wouldn't consider myself a tree-hugger, I have tried to live by my father's code.

That picture is the one I got from Amazon. Mine is just over 6" with markers to help with planting bulbs. It curves in on one side which helps find the root of a weed. I'm able to find the direction the weed is growing and pull every bit of it out. If a lot of dirt clings to the roots, I use the blade to knock it off. It has a serrated side which is good for cutting grass roots that have over stepped their boundaries. I thought I had 2 days worth of weeding in my front garden but was able to do the entire thing in just over an hour with my Hori Hori. I saw 12" blades. :) Tell Amazon don't worry about it. Maybe there's something you could click to stop the reminders. I keep stuff in my cart for weeks without notices.

Don't pop @Streetwise! We need you for training camp and the 2019 season.

Very thoughtful, @ColoCowboy. We need more people like you to counteract the people like us. You know it's true.

@GrammaJan , you can easily be an Aero Gardener. The plants are in a small housing which stays inside. It has it's own lighting like Coach said, so you can put it anywhere but normally they are for kitchen herbs. Overalls optional

It's hard to believe Doris Day died, @ABQCOWBOY but we're all little drops of sunshine too! We just didn't have to fake love scenes with Rock Hudson. Well.... most of us anyway. I'm not going to vouch for Coach.

Coach, you'd probably like the 12 inch knife but I fear for the safety of you and your pets. As for the snakes, if I were to write an instruction book for house hold emergencies, that's exactly what I'd write for snakes.

Morning, Pops and pen pals. I'm going to play golf this morning for the first time in weeks. It should be fun.
Thank you for the lovely compliment, @GrammaJan

Take care and enjoy your day.

I was joking about the e-mails. It seems like we are ordering so much from them that they must miss us when we skip a few days. Thanks for the info.

At least Amazon is not keying in on your emails address and sending you this "see something you like"? I get that from these different sites and it is annoying, especially for an impulse shopper like me. Hell, I go to Costco and see the stuff they have on the endcaps and wonder "who did I tell I was coming here"?

Couple of years ago, I went in for a chicken, just one chicken and some salad stuff and came out with a Cutco knife and block set for $550, drove back to where I live, about an hour, and guess what? No chicken. I need meds for BSODD, Bright and Shiny Object Diversion Disorder.

Morning Pops. Morning Fellas and good morning to all who stop in and check out the thread.

Hump Day today, had a good day yesterday with the Boys. Went to Wendy's, which I can live without to be honest, and bought lunch for the Boys. Reason being, they have Frosty's on sale so we got Frosty's all around! Lots of happy little faces around the table yesterday.

Jobs, Leon, dbrp, Xelda, zrin, Trouty, ksk, RGV, Coach, RWB, Ranching, SW, John, Jan, Corso and Colo, hope you guys are all in good spirits today.

Everybody, have a great Wednesday, tomorrow is Thursday and we head towards the weekend. Always good news to me! Have a great day everybody!

Afternoon Pops and friends. Yard work is a terrible thing but still preferable to dealing with the public. I can't stick them to the side and fix a glass of tea, sit down and unwind. Even though the yard is outside, it's still nicer to me than some customers.

Leon, I didn't mention your home improvement projects because I would go slap nuts on you. I have watched so much HGTV that I'm looking to improve every house/yard I see. I was watching an episode of Bonanza one day and was puzzled by window placement and lack of curtains. They were using it to shoot at Washington Commanders, so I couldn't hold that against them. Glad to hear you're feeling up to golfing again. We take that as a very good sign.

Coach, I too suffer from BSODD. I'm regularly having an internal conversation telling myself not to go down certain aisles. Don't go down that aisle! But, I need to check for a certain product. Which one? The pet aisle. OK, but get that one item and leave! After permission is granted, I ignore myself completely. LEAVE! Nuh uh. Hey, if you go to those websites from your email, you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and click unsubscribe. I had to do that quite a bit.

Glad you had a good time, ABQ. Have a good Wednesday everyone!
