Winning is a team stat. Unless the QB is the driving force behind winning I'm not paying him 30 million a year.

When you play the Cowboys the last thing you worry about is the QB beating you. He's a bus driver, bro. You don't pay bus drivers like they are franchise QBs and you can't put the supporting cast around him that he needs if you do. Guys like Rodgers and Brady don't need elite WRs and RBs. They are the reason why they win. They don't have to be carried. This QB has to be carried.
No doubt about it. What's our alternative? The window is open for now, but not for long.

Thing to ponder..

At the NFL level, it won’t matter what pessimist say about his accuracy. What will matter after this season.. Is he a winner.

The fact that he has lead his team to the playoffs 2 out of the 3 seasons he’s been in the league will hold more weight than what any nay sayer says about his play. And the fact that this team is loaded with talent and presumably depth means he prob leads this team to the playoffs AGAIN.

If Dallas isn’t willing to pay him, another team surely will. He’ll be a young (26yo) QB with 3 out of 4 seasons of playoff experience, dosent turn the ball over, and has very respectable stats that fits the mold of today’s NFL “option” Offense.

For those that are so sure Dak sucks.. he hasn’t been the reason why we lost playoff games and even beat the ‘Great’ Russell Wilson. So tap the brakes and try to enjoy Dak rather that throwing dirt on him every chance you get. He’s a better QB than most give credit for. (This includes myself)

Nominated ...........you just bottom lined 2000 words into the only one the NFL cares about.......winning. Dak has proven that...

30 million a year would put him in the top tier of QBs. He is no where near the top tier of QBs playing today. He isn't in the 2nd tier either.

Troy didn't have to have elite talent. He just had it. Great players can play with other great players without making one a fraud. Emmitt ran behind that OL. That OL blocked for Emmitt. Both were great. Prescott needs great players because he lacks talent. He can't throw the ball. He can't read defenses. He has no pocket presence. You better have a great running game and defense or you got no shot with this QB. Your passing offense will always be a sloppy sandlot style of play.
Be honest with yourself, Troy was a JAG after Emmitt, Irvin, and the OL got old or left. That’s why there was no championships after those 3 in 4 years. It’s also the reason Jerry foolishly went out and got Galloway.

Furthermore, elite QBs in the NFL, other than Brady have elite talent around them. Ben has those bums, Brown, Schuster and Bell to help him out. Bree’s always has had a Pro Bowl quality WR and had Graham at TE. His current WR and Camera are no slouches. Wilson is another who doesn’t have elite talent around him. Mahones has Hill and Kelci. Goff has Gurley and those WRs. The one things the elite QBs have that Dak doesn’t, is elite coaching.

love the idea of a 5 year deal with a backdoor out for each side after year 3. We can also manipulate the salary cap with this kind of a deal and still retain players etc. Its player and team friendly...and somewhat long term.

THATS the stark truth. Everyone wants to whine but they got no solution other than Dak sucks or don't pay him. It is what it is.
Anyone not blinded by hate can see the guy can win games. Get him extended and hope you can cut him loose after the first three years of new money with all guarantees paid if he poops the bed, which, imo, he won't do. I think he will be around for a third contract negotiation.

It's a good plan given the circumstances that were forced upon other teams by the short sighted GMs who overpaid their QBs in the previous several years.

When you pay a QB 30 million a year, you shouldn't have to also pay a WR 16 million and a RB another 16. That QB shouldn't need it. He should simply make stars of the next batch of skill players because he should be great. He's getting paid like it.

Prescott needs it and more.

What an absolute disgrace that contract will be.

The thing about DAK is..

we will pay him all this money..

and he will continue having the same issues..

Accuracy issues..

holding onto the ball too long..

taking sacks or running for his life.

He has been very protective of himself so far and staying healthy.

But I wonder with all his new money..

if he will be taking more risks now trying to play up to his salary increase.

Or will he become even more conservative to protect himself.?

Curious.

The way I see it..

I honestly understand folks concern of Dak, but he’s no where near as terrible as some suggest and his record/stats reflect this. He has proven we can win with him under center. So, sign him before he gets even more expensive.

The hard fact is.. Dallas will have to pay a QB no matter how you slice it. Even if you draft the next ‘Aaron Rodgers’ Dallas will have to pay him within 2-3 years when the young QB has “proven” himself. This team has proven they can draft talented players. Signing Dak dosent stop Dallas from continuing to draft QBs. Maybe Mike White is a viable starter(sorry I purposely left Cooper Rush out).. maybe Dak thrives under Kellen Moore at OC, maybe we draft a QB ‘in waiting’ that will replace Dak in 3-4 years if Dak proves to be mediocre.

Bottomline, Dak is the man right now and has the right attitude, grit, and fellow players seem to love him. If Dallas allows him to walk and all we have is the next Quincy Carter or Drew Henson.. the pessimist will be hiding under a rock. And the only thing they will say is.. “I told you so”. Who cares what they say. I would rather have a guy that teammates would run through walls for. I’d rather have a player that our team has a chance to compete with.. a QB that is willing to do whatever it takes to win and build QB depth behind him. Dak has proven he can do all those things and it’s not fair as fans to not be atleast grateful of his accomplishments. No one can honestly say (without their own biases) what Prescott will accomplish within the next few years. His track record suggests he will stay healthy and be in the playoffs.. with the team Dallas has built around him, he has the potential to accomplish so much more.. even a SB. Anyone that says otherwise is just being short sighted. Nothing Dak has done so far in his short career suggest otherwise.

When opinion articles come out that we SHOULD pay him 30m and this is the reaction, think about how it will be when he is actually signed to 30m. Or even 28m. People are going to lose their **** and I'm going to get my  and enjoy every minute of it .

This is nothing but fantasyland thinking..of course in a perfect world you would have a qb that is capable of that..you can name on one hand how many of those guys in this world there are..unfortunately, the market deems what players are worth..and the qb market is filled with crazy high demand and very little supply
Exactly haha guys like that comment in their own reality, they don’t understand the reality of the position in relation to contracts and the market.

that's the point.....Prescott needs a lot of help to become an average passer in the league. once he gets that large contract, and lets say we can't sign zeke or Amari, then all Dak lovers will complain that he doesn't have the weapons....and inevitably it becomes a Romo comparison....see what Romo had...if he had what Romo had.....

$150 million for 5 years is a good deal for both parties. Better to sign Dak now because the QB market is going to explode next offseason when the Chiefs resign Mahommes.

King made a mistake when he said Goff, Watson, Newton and Wentz are better than Dak though.
you hate to hear it when all non dak lovers and non cowboys fans rank him where he belongs compared to others in his age in the league.....

Rodgers has had back to back losing seasons so he clearly isn’t carrying his team.
rogers without the WRs and running game and OL had 4400 yards passing, and 25 TDs... their defense was 18th in the league.... give him the same weapons and defense we had, he would be over 5000 yards and in the NFCG
