Because they fear the dragon? Gray worm, the unsullied and the Dothraki follow Dany specifically because of what she did / who she was for them, not because she is a Targaryen
It was a joke.... because they fear the dragon.

I think when they left the novels, they knew where they wanted to end up but not necessarily how they wanted to get there. Story exposition was left too open.

Dany's slow turn to madness has been well done because it has come in layers and her ultimate madness is that she can't understand why she is not loved by the people. So, she will show them by going out of her way onto the castle to destroy everything and they've conveniently stored explosives in the building to make them burn better and faster.

We are left to assume that the Hound worked on Arya all the way to King's Landing and he finally got through to her to give up on her list. Why else does she give in so easily when she'd been so steadfast to her cause? "One last little project on my list here and I'm done and it is the most important name but what the hell, I'll go roll in flour and find a horse and while I am at it, think I'll let my forehead grow out". I noticed on a re-watch the make up job on her was pretty sloppy.

It is easy to be critical of it but it is still the best thing I've seen on TV in some time but I am disappointed in this after The Longest Night and even that with everyone saved in the nick of time by Arya. That's why it would not surprise me if Cersei and/or Jaime are still alive. Maybe the writers were thinking 'we'll tease them with a cave in on Cersei and then give her the death everybody wants for her'.

And Tyrion needs to be king and get back to drinkin' and whorin', hell, I had dwarf envy back then. Now? Not so much.

I will preface my comment by stating nothing is impossible in fiction. That said, it would be an insult to every single death involving all previous major or minor characters in the series if Cersei AND/OR Jaime crawled out of the rubble alive. It is like... some people MUST see tons of stone crush their bodies on the screen--perhaps perferably in slow motion.

Their exits were blocked. They stood together, unflinching, in one place. For a split second, all anyone sees is stones falling around them and the massive cloud of dirt obscures them--symbolizing a section of the castle collapsing on them.

But...

...they survived?

Guess Melisandre resurrected them like she did Jon? Wait. She's dead already. Melisandre would have borrowed a line from Leonard McCoy and said, 'They're dead Jim'... if she was still alive, that is.

Lena Headey is a very good actress. She helped create an onscreen character SO hated that some of the show's fans want her to die ANOTHER horrible death than the one she just experienced. That is great acting.

Even if Cersei were to somehow survive that, Jaime should have already been dead, from his injuries.....but no, I don't think she survived. I think they wanted the 2 of them, who came into the world together, to die together.

Oh, Jaime was Dead Man Walking. His fate was sealed already. If anything, he would have accomplished getting his sister lover safely out of the Red Keep alive and then died from his wounds.

Mostly only in pictures, but I do have a very good understanding of physics. One thing I know for sure. Things only fall in a controlled fashion in a controlled environment.

Oh I agree with you on that count. There are a lot of things in shows that don't make much sense. Sort of like a scorpion being able to hit fast moving targets through the air. Never going to happen, and that's not what they were meant to be used for. Your comment just reminded me of a time when Arya was talking to Tywin and he said he never met a literate stone mason.

I dunno, he was moving around well for a guy stabbed in each side but I do think he's gone.

After watching it again, I am satisfied with her death because the smirk was replaced with true emotion and the realization that she was going to die and the harsh reality that her line would not move on.

But with what I've seen so far, I am still not 100% sure she's dead. Need to see a body and I think Tyrion will find them because they will want to make sure she didn't escape while Dany was wasting all that time cooking innocent people. Mother of Dragons? What an irresponsible parent.

If you're referring to the tunnel entrance being blocked the way it was, I think if all that debris fell at once, there'd be a chance it could land as a whole unit and neatly seal the entrance as it did. It would have looked better to have say, a third of it spilled inside, but I wouldn't say it was out of the question to end up the way it did.

Jaime had said that he wanted to die in the arms of the woman he loved

Love will sometimes make a person do the impossible despite the obvious. I have no issue with Jaime surviving from his wounds long enough to get Cersei out safety.

I really enjoyed Headey's performance from the time she looked out her balcony watching Drogon, literally, destroying Kings Landing to her final moments alive. She was watching the witch's prophecy fulfill itself and knew there was nothing neither she nor anyone else could do to stop Dany from killing her.

Perhaps Cersei hung onto a smidgen of hope as long as The Mountain stayed by her side. Just imagine how she felt when he rejected her. Seeing Jaime was likely her final ember of hope but the blocked exit ended up being the total acceptance of the fate foretold to her. A fate she did nothing to prevent despite what the witch told her.

In the end, Dany did not kill her. Cersei's own lifelong arrogance sealed her destiny.

So with all the scorpions they built, they can only manage to get a couple 4-5 shots off? Really?
Dragon breath is now explosive and was toppling fortified stone structures like it was paper mache? If it was really that easy to wipe out the armada, why didn't they just do it last week?
Who was Varys writing those letters to about Jon being the rightful heir?
Does Bronn finally get a castle?
Was the pale horse, Bran in warg?
Every battle, Grey Worm wears his helmet, did he pull a Thurman Thomas?
Did Jon get clipped downstairs, like Varys, he seems to have lost his sack this season?
The Mountain was a whole heck of a lot harder to kill than the Night King and why did the Mountain look like a steroid zombie Varys?
How many times will Sansa say "I told you so"?
With the massive amount of casualties taken in Winterfell, where did all those unsullied and dothraki come from?
How the heck did Arya and the Hound, Jamie and anyone else riding horses and not sailing get to King's Landing so quick?
How long had Cersei been preggers, it's been quite awhile and not even a bump showing?
The Golden Company was pretty disappointing for professional mercenaries. Did anyone else wonder where the Golden Company commander get the Dockers khaki pants he was wearing? Is there a Gap in Kings Landing, wouldn't be a stretch since we now know that Winterfell has a Starbucks.
Everyone has a plan until they are punched in the face

They Lannister soldiers and Iron Island sailors all crapped themselves when Dany and Drogon went all Top Dragun on their azzes

and Cersei died in the Red Keep .... her safe place ..... or should I say under the Red Keep

She always said she would burn the city to the ground and Jaime said he would kill everyone to get back to Cersei..... #twincest til the end

She's been showing signs all along, like when she killed Sam's father and brother. It's just been brushed off as that time of .....er, uncharacteristic overreactions.
She ruthlessly burned people/enemies in every season

She was a phony..... she was just another power hungry tyrant like the rest of them

Cersei was the only honest one about it

Like the Joker once said "madness is like gravity, all it needs is a little push"

Family has been inbreeding for centuies, House Motto is "Fire and Blood"

Has repeatedly said and threatened to burn cities to the ground. Has never reacted well when feeling disrespected, slighted or shown the proper respect. Has repeatedly shown you have only 2 choices follow her or die, it's her way or the fried way. She's had advisors she trusted that helped curb some of those dark impulses, Daario, Jorah etc. Right now, she doesn't have people to advise her that she trusts. Even leading up to the battle she said she would save future generations at the expense of the current one. There were plenty of other signs, but how many more do you need?

Like Olenna once told her ".....you're a dragon, be a dragon."
Dany was always a Khaleesi and they are savages

She ripped thru men without regret and she always gave into her rage with violence

Let Drogo kill her brother......conveniently she is now heir to the throne
Burned the Witch
Burned down House of Undying and locked up Ducksauce
Killed Masters in Yunkai
Crucified 150 masters in Slavers Bay
Killed assassin in Mereen
Killed the enemies at the Parlay when Mereen revolted
Killed all the Khals
Killed the Tarleys without mercy
Made Jon Snow bend the knee and didn't return the gesture after learning the truth

She was truly alone.... she lost Missandei, betrayed by Jon, Varys and Tyrion
She saved the North and no one even thanked her
She gave into the Dark Side and became consumed by it and it made her indestructible.....sorry wrong series

Repeatedly threatened and banished Tyrion, Jorah and Varys

I'm still trying to figure out who Varys was writing to to tell them that Jon was the rightful heir? Who would it make a difference to that would be strong enough to warrant writing to inform them? I only came up with two sides, the letter is to all the other Houses not already involved in this battle to sway them into joining Jon's side. The other would be a huge development, the Iron Bank. Cersei and the Lannisters, and the kingdom in general were in huge debt to the Iron Bank and with the Lannister's done who pays back their loans? They would be willing to back Jon, provided he was willing to agree to pay back the money owed them by the previous ruler and it's also going to take a lot of money to rebuild. They have been a force that no House has been willing to cross and they wield considerable wealth and power. How many forces they personally have is unknown, but they do have the power to call in markers from all other houses and kingdoms which would be more than formidable. It's been said many times that the Iron Bank gets their dues.
and who was he trying to poison with the little girl

Those are going to be some interesting skeletons when they eventually find them.

A pregnant woman and a man with a fake hand (despite it magically growing back for that one scene). It will be fairly obvious who they are.

Personally all the characters this season appear to have devolved into some sort of weaker-pseudo caricature of themselves. None of them are worthy.

I'm now leaning to Dany kills them all. Jon as potential usurper, Tyrion the traitor, Arya as a potential assassin, Sansha because, well, she hates her, the Baratheon kid she promoted.. all of them!!

I think it would be glorious. An entire episode of Godfather final scene retribution and death as the Mad Queen takes a stranglehold on the seven kingdoms forever. Every challenger killed.. the end!
