An injury update on the Cowboys rookie running back.
The Dallas Cowboys held their rookie minicamp last week and one of the results from it was a question regarding running back Mike Weber and his knee.
Monday had some confusion as to whether Weber did indeed practice on Sunday or not, and with time we got more clarity on the situation on Tuesday. ESPN’s Todd Archer reported that Weber does not need any surgery as of now, but a scope is possible in the future.
Rookie running back Mike Weber will not have surgery at this time on a sore right knee that required an MRI after the Cowboys’ rookie minicamp over the weekend. The hope is rest and rehab will help but there is a possibility of needing a scope in the future if things do not improve. Weber left the Saturday morning practice early and watched the final workout that was open to the media in the afternoon.
Hearing knee injuries connected to any player is never good, and a running back is especially problematic. Weber is only a rookie so there is plenty of time to reach his potential, and while the Cowboys also drafted Tony Pollard, Weber is expected to be involved in the backfield behind Ezekiel Elliott.
It’s still only the middle of May so if Weber does need a scope the timing of this isn’t critical by any means. It looks as if the Cowboys are on top of this and doing their best to manage the situation. That’s all you can do at this point.
