Where do you stand on Garrett and why?

I think Garrett is weak and doesn't know how to coach in-game, we've seen this over and over again. 4th & 1 and we run to the Rams strength. He should have spoken up and over-ruled Linehan. Not going for it with the game on the line...etc. If he sees something he needs to take charge to win.

On the flip side, I don't think the Jones' do any good to the head coach by neutering him in public. But if Garrett weren't weak, the Jones' would know not to do this to their coach. They would hear an earful if he had any balls and stood up for himself. It's just a dysfunctional situation, and the Jones' have the perfect coach for it.

Hence, Garrett sucks

I think it's the same ol game plan week after week, I don't see it change much between opponents, every game is close because our opponents know 90% of the time what's coming. there are alot of games we should be blowing out people only to leave them hanging around.

Bill Walsh used to script the first 25 plays of the game vs a particular opponent, I doubt we do any of that, lastly I never get the feeling that our coaches are outcoaching the opponent, ie game management, halftime adjustments etc etc.

He brought back a focus on the run game, even though it took a while to find a back capable of being the work horse he needed. He is one of the best at taming the media circus and that is extremely important in big media market teams. 90-95% of the players buy in and play hard for him in an era of constant diva's, see steelers and how fast things can get out of control. Player management is extremely hard here when you have Jerry coddling players as well, and Jason does a good job keeping guys in line on 1 hand while Jerry hamstrings him in the other. In other organizations he might be more of a GM type but here he's the HC and he's the best buffer we have between a front office kinda led by stephen untill jerry sticks his nose in and a crazy media that overblows everything and players who think they do whatever they want.

Now Garrett isn't some innovative creative type. Like most HC's he needs good or very good coordinators. I don't think Garrett stiffles creativity he just isn't the guy to come up with it either.

Just my opinion, but for a great motivator we sure come out flat and uninspired at times in big games. His time management and in game decisions are suspect. I don't know if any top coach would be able to coexist with Big Enos and Little Enos, but I'd like to see if it could happen.

Most if you know I think Garrett sucks, and those of you that have been around for a while know my reasoning. In a nutshell, I think he's arrogant, back stabbed Wade, and has no clue how to properly manage the flow of a game and much less during crunch time. @Idgit is on the other side of the spectrum. He loves his red headed Jesus. Why? I have no clue. Where do you stand and why?

-Without a doubt, Garrett is the worst: game manager, play caller, schemer, OC, I have ever seen in football. Even worse schemer than "3 yards and a cloud of dust" Parcells was.

-He is 100% the wrong HC to pair with Jones. Jones needs a strong mind that will influence him. Not some yes man panzie puppet.

-If I could give him any credit he appears likeable to the players and he seems a good administrator. But big whoop. He should be running for office or heading a fortune 500 company. Not leading a football team.

-Horrible football mind

-He is basically a fraud. Probably the best poser and fraud I have ever seen.

I just feel he never earned the job to begin with. Neither did any of his brothers who we also employ. I came from a poor household and had to work for everything I had with actual job performance and ability. He and his brothers skated their whole life on daddy's coattails. Even when he transferred from college to college when his dad would change jobs. Now as a father now I don't blame his dad for helping his kids out. I blame the employer. He's now wasted 9 years learning on the job when we could have brought in a real coach with ability. It's the one thing in the league without a salary cap, we have the most $$, but the worst coaching staff.

LOL.........thats because he isnt a great motivator. A motivator gets the best out of his team and his players. We dont see that here. We do see good chemistry and guys dont quit. But that should be the bear minimum you should expect from any HC.

His job title for this year, is don't come back if you don't win...and he deserves that. Nice guys don't always finish last...they just don't win it all. Their people are limited by X's and O's and non-timely adjustments.

I'm not justifying this year for him...Jerry and Stephen have finally provided a quality roster. Accountability isn't pushed down further in time.

It's true. I think JG is great at getting them to play but doesn't have the feel of coaching live games or understanding the flow of the game. I think he would probably do better elsewhere. As I think having ever move scrutinized by coaching the Cowboys have him in a play to not lose mentality.

I think Garrett should have been gone after 2015. Losing players is no excuse. Look at the Eagles. as much as that pains me to say. He is made out of teflon. How many coaches have we gone thru since Garrett took over? There is no where left for him to hide this season and I love it. This team has had so much talent that has gone to waste becasue of his inability to change what he believes works. We dont put players in a position to succeed. They either conform to his beliefs or are out. It's a joke

The traits you mentioned is how you feel does not make them facts. I don't think he is arrogant nor do I think he back stabbed anyone. Myself I like Garrett and hope he can get this team over the hump and win a title. I also have no issue with him being fired if he fails.

And if he doesn't make the SB? Then what? What if he doesn't make the playoffs or they get bounced early again?

By no measure is he a "great" coach.
How many coaches in the history of the game did what he did with a rookie QB and a suspect defense?

Garrett is not a cause, he is a symptom. Family run businesses think and run their businesses like that too often. Before long, every member of that family will have a job in the organization.

Garrett is doing a great job of doing what he was hired to do by the man and his son that hired him. He is portraying his role of Head Coach and the best compliment he can get from this forum is his players play hard for him. Every coach's team plays hard for him because they're all being filmed and reviewed.

Probably not fair to cite one game but this one game is the reason I don't think he's a real HC. He takes his team into ATL to face a team coming back home with the season on the line and Garrett's is missing his LT and replacing him with a guy that's unproven at that position. He was totally unprepared for what was going to unfold, that's just bad head coaching.

I am a conflicted fan because I do not want him as HC but I want to have the best season possible. I wish I could have that mentality of losing to lose him but I do not know how many seasons I have left and do not want to waste one.

My other issue with him is that I don't like watching him on the sideline. He doesn't look like a HC and I am not sure he really knows what he's watching and have no idea if he even gets involved when it's not going well. His tenure has been marked with very poor tactics which really relates to a strategy issue. However, I was surprised that he can cuss like a coach in the All or Nothing series. But that made me uncomfortable, like watching Richie Cunningham drop F bombs on "Happy Days".
