Run... Pass... OPTION.
RPO is typically a choice between a RB run or a Pass. The normal Read Option is a choice between the QB running or handing off to the RB. Of course that why the thought of using Dak on options sounds good, the defense has to decipher if Dak is going to run, pass the ball or hand off to Zeke.

KC ran a triple option a couple times last year using Mahomes, Hunt and Hill, which was kinda fun to see.

Garrett didn't call plays. Linehan had full control of this offense. About the only input Garret had was the time out or red flag, and to go for it on 4th. Linehan orchestrated the Dez removal and the plays used we're his. Yes they both run similar scheme's but different plays. You can see the difference the last 4 games of 2018 as Garrett and Moore started gaining more input. He's not creative but he is not the one holding Dak back. That was linehan who hates player an coach input.

I think a lot of what you said is strictly you guessing about things and it's my guess your guessing was wrong on most of it. First off Garrett's footprint is all over the playbook that Linehan took the plays to run. Second, the day after a game the ENTIRE coaching staff start to game plan for the next game. It's was not just Linehan sitting in his office deciding what plays to run. Next, it was Bryant who orchestrated his departure by a stead downward trend in production the previous 4 seasons with an exclamation mark for leading the league in drops his last year in Dallas. Proof, he sat as a free agent from early spring until week 12 of 2018 and then only got signed by the Saints because of injuries to their receivers. To top things off his first practice he tore his achilles tendon.

I agree. However, there have been many QBs injured running the ball. They need to find the right balance or Dak will end up like RG3.
Bad comparison. RGKnee couldn't read a defense. So when he couldn't effectively scramble, that basically ended his career.

This is what happens when you have a head coach who is stubborn and slow to adjust his scheme.
former OC quoted as saying they encourage Dak to run more,
Think Dak chooses not to.....more than he chooses to
effective when he does, and is staying healthy
Was well reported last year offseason Garrett & OC wanted more RPO.....

Dak does seem to pick his spots fairly well

Well, I was originally thinking Randall Cunningham. It was good for Dallas that he got hurt running the ball. And then the playoff game cost RGIII his career.

This excuse making for Garrett is too much. Garrett is the HC. This logic that he was basically a slave to Linehan is preposterous.
When will fans start realizing that the HC in Dallas is and always will be just basically a liaison between Jerry and the rest of the team.
Head Coach in Dallas just means that he ultimately listens and translates what Jerry really wants, and knows that by doing so, he takes the hits if Jerry was wrong.
@charron said it best earlier in this thread, JG also gets the opportunity to throw the red flag when he feels its appropriate.

You are grasping at straws.

Fact- Garrett was forced to hire an OC. We don't know for sure how much control he had in who it was.
Fact- any wr who breaks his ankle typically has a bad year coming off that injury. And coupled with this QB orchestrated career lows in average yards per catch with every receiver on the team 2 years in a row (before coop) maybe it's more than just Dez. They were not a good fit.
Yes I believe Jason wanted linehan gone but at seasons end he couldn't do that without ownership permission. What head coach has to ask the owner to fire his assistant?

And again linehan orchestrated dez's release, not Dez. Jason and Jerry had to be talked into it and it was a disaster. Cooper saved their butts.

Again, this points to the lack of creativity and adjustments from Linehan and Garrett.

Hopefully that’s changing with Moore.

They been running rpos in the red zone since 2016

Led by offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, the Dallas Cowboys are using Run/Pass Options (RPO) to be more creative in the Red Zone in order to give their second year quarterback Dak Prescott more space to work with. It appears the team installed it last season when they used it in their comeback against the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Exactly, the problem with folks in here is that let their hate for Garrett get in the way of what might really be happening. Dak has said himself he picks his spots to run. He had the green light.

If they could teach Dak how to run without getting pounded I'd be more inclined to say run him more, but he takes too many hard hits.
