Vegas over/under for Dallas. 8.5 wins

I would pick the over too, but it’s very hard to get above 10 wins in this league. I’m thinking 9-10 is realistic. Each year in this century, the number of NFL teams winning more than 10 games is between 5-7.

Since 2000, the Cowboys have won more than 10 games only 4 times in 19 seasons. Not saying they won’t do it this year- they could. But based on history, the odds are lower, which is why Vegas has that line at 8.5.
That makes good sense!

My concern is who are you going to entice into this job knowing you have to work under Jerry and his wild ways and you won’t have much room for roster flex if all these big contracts get done. We may end up with Jeff Fisher (or similar). Best hope is Richard takes over.

That's surely a valid consideration. I'd agree that Coach Richard might be a prime candidate as a HC hopeful. I imagine that's something that the FO would be wise to take seriously and plan possible alternatives if the upcoming season starts going awry.

Easily over for these two reasons

1. All-pro center coming back + having cooper for the full season

2. MUCH MUCH easier AFC schedule. Cowboys went 1-3 against AFC in 2018. They could EASILY flip it and go 3-1 in 2019.........

unless the injury bug kills us we are winning more than 8.5 games this season. although we are the only team in the NFL who doesnt have back to back home games.
@Lions
@Patriots
only part of the schedule we have 2 road games back to back.
I will gladly take the comp.

I think the best hope for Dallas would be Sean Payton. Nothing against Richards but Dak needs all he can get.

The bet screams the over. Vegas wants you to do just that but never doubt those guys. They have poured over every aspect. The reality is this coach is a minus 2 coach. Any other coach and the line is 10.5. It shows how little respect he has.

Yes.

Being 10-6 or 8-8 does make a big difference to you, doesnt it ?

So I take it you think we’ll lose both games? Loser mentality. Plus, just because those two teams finished first in their division last year doesn’t mean they’ll be the best in their divisions this year. Every single year between 3-5 playoff teams the previous year drop off and fail to make the playoffs. Who’s to say those two teams aren’t among them.

Its like a cold splash of water in the morning for many of this board when sober/non-fans evaluate the Cowboys prospects for 2019.

vegas is looking at Jason Garrett history and assuming it will repeat itself

2011: 8-8
2012: 8-8
2013: 8-8
2014: 12-4
2015: 4-12
2016: 13-3
2017: 9-7 (with meaningless last game win)
2018: 10-6

so, is ol' JG gonna fall back to "we suck" status every other year? this is the "other year"

Note: I say the over looks silly good and I would take the over, but it is a Jason Garrett team sooooooooo.........

Garrett and the crew are not going to have things in order come week one. I guarantee you the Giants will run a couple of trick plays. And avenging a playoff lost is only natural.
It's because Garrett doesn't believe in playing his starters during preseason and it takes 3 or 4 weeks for the real team to start playing. We still should beat the Giants though. If we don't then oh boy......
