Dak has already carried this team and done very well leading it multiple times. His leadership should never be in question,
Leadership and intangibles are overplayed. How would Prescott have looked playing for the Jets over the past three seasons? It's easy to look good in this Cowboys offense.

Can he actually throw a ball into a tight window without the receiver being 5 yards open?

Can he read a defensive coverage and made the right decision in the final minute of a play off game?

I credit his durability, that's impressive.

When I say Mediocre era. I’m lumping them all together. The Romo era. Dak era. All lumped in. It’s looking much the same to me.

Youre welcome to define as you wish if it doesn’t fit your narrative. Ha

Perhaps I should lump it all in Mediocre Century. Would you like that better? Lol
The Cowboys haven't existed for a century

The real question is how much of it is guaranteed and how much is incentives. The top line numbers are basically meaningless.
It’s always the guaranteed money that counts. You are spot on. Go Cowboys

From ESPN, these are not the comments of a guy who is playing hardball in negotiations:

"I mean, I want to be a Cowboy forever," Prescott said Wednesday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark, where he and his teammates were raising money for the Salvation Army through the Reliant Home Run Derby. "I think the people that are doing the deal feel the same way, so to me, it's no rush. I know it will get done."

"It's all generational money, life-changing money, so it's just a blessing to be able to be in this position," Prescott said. "But as far as the numbers are concerned, my focus is on the locker room, and that will all take care of itself."

The fact you posed these questions, makes me
Wonder if you actually have watched Dak play.

We have seen him make plenty of tight window throws. Insinuating he needs receivers to be 5 yards open isn’t realistic.

We have seen him make plays at the end of playoff games. Against both the packers and Seahawks.

I recall witnessing a couple 20 yarders rifled & sliding super slick like down across his in-stride receivers left shoulder & right in their hands, like he'd dropped it in a 5 gal. Bucket,,, the #21's down the right sidelines in that last Detroit Lions game being the most awesome of memory-worthyo_O

Despite Dak hoping to remain the starting QB for so many years, this season's schedule promises to be difficult. If Vegas is correct, we'll be looking at 8 or 9 wins. That surely wouldn't constitute a lock for him to be awarded the length of a career that he covets. Nothing is guaranteed; that's a fact.

If Mike White then fails to produce an impressive showing in TC, I wouldn't be surprised if Dallas drafts a QB within the first 4 rounds in 2020. Much depends upon Dak's ongoing success rate, both this year and beyond, to be a sure thing as Dallas' "forever" QB. It just doesn't exist in the NFL.

More Agents sales talk.

At this stage the sales pitch to sign Dak is like one of those dodgy door to door sales people who say that if you dont sign up now, you'll lose the bargain of a lifetime. Think about it:

1. Dak needs to be signed now.
2. This is a bargain - the price will rise if we dont buy now.
3. Potential to change your life.
4. You cant buy similar elsewhere.
5. Nobody else wants to sell you a franchise QB.
6. Dak is the best available you.
7. You'll be no good without Dak.

Etc. Etc.etc.

I usually run a mile from this type of sales pitch.......and rightly so.
Exactly! Dak and his agent are using the media to try and get a new contract done now. Jerry and Stephen are both sitting back with hands in their pockets with a smug look on their face saying we dont have to pay anything right now. We can pay him peanuts now and franchise him next year and that still would only equate to 16 mil a year for 2 years.

"It's all generational money, life-changing money, so it's just a blessing to be able to be in this position", Prescott said.

“If this is the worst thing that will ever happen to me,” Romo told reporters, “then I’ve lived a pretty good life.”

Those "some" simply don't like Dak, nor want him here. It's entertaining watching them squirm. lol

When we fail to reach the playoffs and have the bottom 10 passing offense you will be squirming about that bloated contract he signed. The ceaseless hammering will continue week in and week out as you defend the boy blunder weaving a tapestry of mediocrity.

The Cowboys have made the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years, and have one of the best regular season records in the NFL over that time. And though they aren’t a leader in passing yards, they are one of the higher rated passing offenses.

So, why would that suddenly all go South this season?

Like I said, I enjoy watching you squirm with anger and despair. It must suck for you every day knowing Dak is our franchise QB, about to get a huge franchise record contract extension, and going to remain our franchise QB for many years to come.
