You guys talk like it was the end of the game when that play happened. Of course it should have been a catch, but there were over 4 minutes left when GB took over. Even if it was a catch and TD, a crippled Aaron Rodgers would have had no problem getting the Packers into field goal range(which he did anyway), or probably even get a TD. We had plenty of time to stop the Packers and get the ball back. Brad Schramm points that out all the time. People think time was running out when that play happened.
Can't argue with that. It was a freaky play to put them in FG position though. As much as I hated it, that was a great throw.

This game hurt the NFL brand, imo. The NFL is a brand built on lasting images—dramatic displays of athletic prowess. What do you see whenever the NFL shield pops up? The Catch.

The Dez catch, if it had been upheld, was destined to be a historic moment that saw frequent replay. If Dallas wins, Dez is another Dwight Clark. If Dallas loses, we get a last minute, game winning drive, and Aaron Rodgers is Joe Montana.

Instead, we get neither and years of controversy regarding what qualities as a catch, and the competitive legitimacy of the sport is challenged.

That Murray fumble was the game, man.

Caught GB in the perfect defense and hit em with playbook perfect blocking. Demarco had nothing but space to run. That safety had no shot tackling him in the open field. What a strip by Peppers.

So much fell apart at the end of the second quarter. Up 14-7 and driving into Packers territory, Romo hits Witten with a patented one yard short of the sticks pass but they got a huge break on the spot. Garrett inexplicably calls a time out giving them the chance to booth review it where they see their mistake.. Then they go shotgun on 3rd and 1, Romo kill kill kills it, lets a shotgun snap go right through his hands. Then Bailey gets a FG tipped. Then the Cobb trap catch is given to them. Lawrence gets to Rodgers for his second NFL sack. And of course, Rodgers hits Cobb on the sidelines on 2nd and 20. 17-7 becomes 14-10.

The league still should have gotten it right. The fact is, we’ll never know. We saw the team stop Drew Brees in a very similar situation last season. Or Rodgers might have scored quickly and given the ball back to Romo with a little bit of time left and some timeouts.

It’s academic, what might have happened. The problem of having officials determining the outcome of a post-season game with a bad call they didn’t have to make and didn’t get right.

The weird Unsportsmanlike Conduct call on Butler that killed a home drive early in 2016 actually bugs me more than the Dez catch call. And the blown PI v the Saints last year is much worse than both. It’s a huge issue for the league. They’re advancing the wrong teams to the championship games on obvious mistakes.

Exactly..my only hope was that they would have scored so fast it would've given Romo a couple minutes to come back

You forgot about the Grand Poobah of JAGs, Nick Hayden. The man never came off the field and was beyond mediocre.

Speaking of Hayden

I remember that one game in 2013 when he was a complete madman getting to the Qb and always in the backfield I told my skins fans your offensive line isn’t that good because you all are having trouble blocking nick Hayden

But Hayden gave great effort he just wasn’t the right guy for the gig
