Hill will be In the rotation but I dont think he will be playing much until about half season.

Pollard staying depends on Austin, Weber and Cobb's heath I feel.

Looking back at the past 10 drafts, all of the 2nd round picks have played significant snaps (if healthy) during their rookie seasons.

Looking at 2nd and 3rd round DL going back 10 years:
  • 2016 M.Collins: Played 30% in game 1 and 60% for the season.
  • 2015 Gregory: Played 30% in game 1.
  • 2014 DLaw: Played 40% in game 1 and 46% for the season.
  • 2012 Crawford: Limited until game 3 when he played 28% and 30% for the season.

The way you need to look at it is there alot of money that has been spent and will be spent very soon. A 2m dollar player that is avg at best is not something you just keep on the roster. You can save the money and use it on your primium guys.
Js how are they gonna pay Zeke Dak Cooper Jones Jones Awuzie then Van Der Esch?

There is gonna be a crazy change on this roster.

There will be some, but not to the absurd extremes you're claiming.

Take your best guess at which Rookies make the team and which ones don't.
Roster guessing is always fun. Our roster is stocked with talent, but I think they keep an eye on the cap, and include some rookies on the 53:
Tony Pollard RB
Connor McGovern OG
Trysten Hill DT
Donovan Wilson S
Michael Jackson CB

Practice Squad:
Mike Weber RB
Jalen Jelks DE

I think he will play just not as much as people think until about half season. I can see him in sometimes on passing downs.

That's a The Sky Is Falling or The World is Ending type of dramatic statement.

Looking back over the 10 drafts prior to 2019, they most rookies to make the team was 10.

In that time period, only once did more than 2 players at the same position make the team as rookies and that's only with OT and Interior OL considered the same position.

"not as much as people think"

I can't quantify that statement.

The two starting DTs will each play about 60% of the snaps if they are healthy all season.

That leaves a lot of snaps for the 3rd and 4th DTs.

Hill will average about 40% of the snaps for the season and play at least 30% for game 1.

I'd say about 30-40% of the snaps for the season would be accurate

Take your best guess at which Rookies make the team and which ones don't.

these will make the roster
Hill - starter by mid season
McGovern - quality back up at center and guard that will help us keep 9 OL and go heavy somewhere else
Pollard - he will get 10-15 snaps a game and probably have 2 TDs for the year
Weber - if he gets over knee injury. we go three deep at RB
Michael Jackson - depth at CB

Joe Jackson and Jelks are PS

Wilson on the Bubble unless we cut Frazier or Iloka

Wise, Hyatt, Westry and Guyton and Johnson to PS

Unlike some years when the roster is built for the future and guys are kept to see their upside, this year the team has high expectations...higher than they’ve had in a few years. While they won’t be foolish, I really believe that this team, that reportedly practices as hard as any team in the NFL, will keep the players who perform best in camp and preseason. Draft pick, free agent, rookie, veteran....won’t carry much weight. I think the 53 will be guys who have a chance to dress and serve a purpose THIS YEAR as starter, rotation, special teams, or trusted depth.

I won’t be surprised to see undrafted FA’s make the team over drafted players, nor will I be surprised to see a veteran who has served us well and might deserve better be cut loose if a young guy shows he can play this year. You may even see a released vet signed before the season at the expense of a young guy who might have potential for the future.

Again, they won’t be foolish, but I think this is the year guys aren’t kept on the 53 who aren’t ready to play with an eye just on the future. This year it’s all about performance and the W’s, and that is a great message to every player who’s busting his butt.

Taco needs to have improved significantly or he could be gone.

I can’t say who stays and who goes, but we are going to be keeping a lot of young talented players this year. Some vets are going to get bumped. Taco and L. Collins could get moved for picks early on.

The Cowboys only used 3 TEs on 2% of the snaps in 2018.

The success rate on those snaps was 59%.

Success Rate: A play is successful when it gains at least 40% of yards-to-go on first down, 60% of yards-to-go on second down and 100% of yards-to-go on third or fourth down.

RB-TE ..... Success Rate 2018
11 ….. ….. 47%
12 ….. ….. 53%
21 ….. ….. 57%
22 ….. ….. 29%
13 ….. ….. 59%
10 ….. ….. 18%

I have a feeling that Jackson and/or Jenks will get the squeeze.

The DL will be a spot to watch

I would be amazed if we moved either via trade.

1 td in 15 games is not successful. You got 2-3 tes eating up all the passing snaps and got a bunch of zeros in the red zone. 1 td on a 1 yard pass and he was uncovered.

Were last in the League at scoring in the red zone and it Always Everybody elses fault besides the tes. If a guy like Jimmy Graham or Jared Cook comes available in Fa we should sign him. These checkdowners couldnt score or win anything in another 25 yrs. If you cannot score you got no business being on the field in scoring situations. Go get a guy that can go up and get a ball for goodness sakes.

Hill (starts),
McGovern (hard to say how much he plays),
Pollard (play all 16 games),
M Jackson (IMO, much like Jnes can play any DB spot, being groomed for FS, will play)
Guyton (he's your 6th WR - Cooper / Gallup / Cobb / Wilson / Austin / Guyton)

PS - Jenkins is an odd Duck - mediocre stats
played too much DT (about half his college snaps) at 6-5 260
makes plays and has impact, brings a bull rush outside, and plays the ball well
IMO, he's as good as Armstrong or Jackson, quicker off blocks
Where did you see Jackson is being groomed for FS?
