Attacking the guy without knowing what is going on! The guy has had a stellar career and this is the 1st time he has been in any kind of trouble. With the list of "do not use" the NFL has in place it is hard to keep up with. Could have been a huge mistake. Lets just see how it plays out! And for the record, I am not one of the people who wanted to trade for Peterson but the guy has never had a bad word said against him but now he is a "thug". Give me a break!

Better hope Jerry doesn’t go after this guy.

If we signed him, it’s likely Goodell would make Zeke serve his suspension.

Calm down. We are here to enjoy ourselves so poking fun at a story or an opening post is only natural. So not everything said here should be taken literally. People joke. That's what they do.

Who called him a thug? Or if they did was actually serious?

The suspension for using PEDs is 4 games for a first offense. It is an additional 2 games if they find a masking agent or diruetic or some other manner the player tried to cheat the test. It is that part that says this wasn't just a mistake by the player using the wrong supplement. He knew he took something and tried to hide it. I'm not surprised any of these guys use PEDs.

It wasn't a mistake since he was also caught using a masking agent. That's why he got 6 games and not 4. He got caught this time. For all we know he was masking PEDS his entire career.

if the team is willing, there is nothing wrong with that manuever... coulda saved him millions. after the teams unwillingness to help him out, i thing PP's days in the desert are coming to an end

So he shouldn't suffer the economic consequences of his actions? PP doesn't care about winning or missing games. He cares about getting paid. To bail him financially makes no sense for the team.

The grass isn't greener anywhere else either. Nobody is going to give him a big guaranteed contract when he's one failed test away from a year long ban. Sure he might leave the Cardinals, and they will wish him well, recoup his huge cap number, and rebuild in a way that gives them a better chance to win.

I agree. Re-working a contract doesn't make sense for any team under these circumstances. A second failed test results in a 10 game suspension. While it isn't a full year, it is a very significant amount and can include post-season games.

If he tests positive for a masking agent like he just did, it will likely be 16 games.

As i said, it was the teams option, they chose not to redo PP's contract. He will take it on the proverbial chin because of his actions.

But if the team is amenable to, or capable of, reworking the deal, why not? because it mucks up your black and white version of morality? lol, get over yourself already

No need to be so black and white ... to be as draconian as Goodell ... you guys screamed holy hell when Zewok was suspended... think it would have been nice if jerry reworked his deal, saved him a few hundred thousand? (hypothetical only - i realize its his rookie deal, and is locked in place) .

So PP took some steroids, tried to hide it... so what ... for that he has to lose millions? The team could have easily altered his deal, saved him big time dollars... So instead, they got a sour player to deal with... his deal is up after 2020... don't see him returning to Arizona after that

Morality? You gotta be kidding. How about this smart guy............it makes absolutely no business sense for the Cardinals to rework his deal around the 6 games he's missing.

yeah morality... coming off all high and mighty, mr law and order...

whats wrong with Patrick Peterson wanting to save himself millions in fines?what difference would it make to the team? the only thing it did was piss off one of the better players on that team...

Reworking the deal engenders loyalty to the team and perhaps an easier road to help resign him in 2021, when he is an unrestricted free agent... it would say you f'ed up, but we got your back this time patrick ... its short sighted, if they want to resign him ... but hey, go right on with the grrr arrrgh 'he used ped drugs he must suffer the maximum consequences' ... freakin goodell jr ...
