And we were lucky to even GET Dak. Before him, we could have ended up with the following:

Paxton Lynch (Elway saved us here)
Christian Hackenberg (need an explanation?)
Connor Cook (terrible)

Those are the ones I can remember. Glad we have Dak over them.

I never remembered Hackenberg?

Christian Hackenberg was drafted by the Jets. Then did a lot of backup stuff. Then recently failed with the failed Memphis Express. That's one of the QBs we could have had, but luckily didn't get.

OK, but they never showed any interest in him unlike the other two.

Oh mother of God, I can't stop.
So, what if Romo regains the starting position after he recovered?

Who knows? Hopefully, takes us further than Dak did. However, as someone who likes Romo as much as I do, his age and injury history would lead me to guess he'd probably get injured again later.

He most likely would have gotten hurt again at some point. Would have hated to see him permanently injured and disabled like so many vets.

I was writing my own reply as you were writing yours. Easy to deduce the same outcome, no?
