In the You Got to Be Kidding Department, Cespedes has "multiple fracture" in his ankles due to a "horrific" accident at his ranch. 2019 was already iffy, and now looks like 2020 is a question. With this news, It looks as tho he is now eligible for a long term contract extension by Brodie Woe Be Gone.

The Mets are truly the most horrible run team in Major League Baseball. There is no debate.

Cespedes has always struck me as a borderline knucklehead.

The Mets resigning him was a horrible decision... Talk about 20-some million of deadwood on a team's payroll.

I forgot he was even part of the team. I say void his contract for risky behavior and let the players union sort it out.

And to add to the Mets' issues Cano is being benched for not running out two balls that resulted in double-plays.

He's a full-fledged knucklehead.

Mets must like collecting these guys.

Every time Houston gets a knucklehead like Gomez or Giles they are soon exported...

We'll see how the Mets handle this.

Ooohhhhh, a plot twist! If the Mets were to go after Cespedes contract/money, guess who else it would affect? Yup, the Mets new GM who was his agent at the time :omg:

Guess that won’t be happening now........

And the Mets are paying Cano $20 mil per season for the next 4 seasons.

Obviously they are delusional.

You know, I never thought about that, but my team is like that, aren't they? The Stros don't put up w/ crapp. Thanks for bringing that to my awareness!!!

Team chemistry is oh so important in baseball. I'm seriously worried that Springer's agent is going to go for the farm. Does he really have Boras? ick.

Strange how some teams haven't caught up to the fact that w/o steroids, most players have a major dropoff around the age of 33-35. It was pretty funny when the Angels gave Pujols that bloated stupid contract.

Cespedes, injured, CAno-knucklehead, frazier-knucklehead and constantly injured, Lowrie, injured, what do they all have in common? Brodie Van Wag be gone is their former manager. Only the Mets. No other team could be this dysfunctional if they tried. Mets make it look easy

For long term success in MLB teams need...

CCT

Cheap

Controllable

Talent

The Mets have the opposite of that. They have a great many overpaid players who are no longer have much talent.

If the Mets were on the verge of a big season this year, getting that hired gun or two would have made sense... But I'm still unsure what they really accomplished in the Cano deal.

the kid the mets traded for cano is raking in the minors. He has aready hit his 8th home run. Kid will probably be a HOF type player. But Mets wanted to win "this" year. The mets management should start a comedy show. It would be hilarious.

Just looked up Bryce Harper's stats... Meh.

$30 mil for a guy who's earned 0.6 WAR in a 1/3 of the season.

His K's have skyrocketed.

He's been well worth the money so far if you look at ticket sales, merch sales, etc .

While most of.baseball is down in attendance..Phillies are way up.

Also, there's no doubt he's been struggling at the plate. It won't last though. The 10 HRs and 40 RBI don't hurt. His OBP is still up there.

The strikeouts have to recede though .no doubt. He knows it too. He'll be fine.

Probably because they pitch away from him. Harper was (past tense) in a slump and still managed to hit 11 doubles for the month of May, most ever in a single month.

To top off his month of May slump, he is the first Phillies player with 11 or more doubles since 2014 when both Byrd & Utley hit 11. That's a slump most players dream of.

That's all fine and dandy, but it doesn't get a team to the playoffs. It just hits the fans in their pockets. Also being way up in attendance doesn't help when their 2nd in the league with the lowest HR's percentage. If I'm not mistaken, they had 15 wins in both April AND May. They need to up that as well.

Being in first place in your division gets a team to the playoffs. Also HRs don't matter jest as much as runs scored. Fans aren't being shallacked any more than usual at the park either. Just more interest in the team this yesr so.more ticket sales.
