After watching the video footage in its entirety, I don’t think Zeke will face legal or NFL consequences. But I do have several observations which concern me:
- Although Zeke didn’t get arrested, his behavior looks like a reckless teenager rather than a grown man.
- Arguing with someone is not a crime, and although no punches or clear shoves seem to have occurred, he does appear to be physically aggressive or at the very least physically reckless.
- If having too much to drink makes you reckless and more physically aggressive, maybe you shouldn’t drink in public.
- This is one of three videos I have seen of Zeke in public where he seems uninhibited about his physical behavior. The last one I saw also occurred in a Dallas bar where an altercation occurred with a bartender. Again, no charges were filed, but it seems to fit a pattern of reckless behavior in public when alcohol was involved.
I’ve read all the defenses of Zeke that he “didn’t do anything wrong”. But as a Dad, if I saw my son acting the way Zeke acted in that video, I would be all over him to stop acting like a fool in public. Stop acting like a 16 year old high school kid and start acting like a grown man. The same defenses I read about Zeke “just having fun” are as immature as Zeke’s behavior.
When I go to a public event like a concert, movie or sporting event where I have paid to see an event, I expect people at that event to have some respect for the surrounding public. We all have been at a game where some obnoxious drunk thinks he’s funny with his loud, sophomoric behavior like yelling f bombs at a baseball game, or talking loudly at a movie or concert. If you want to do that at a private party, fine. But if you pull that kind of immature obnoxious behavior at a public event, you deserve to be removed. If you think we should all wink at someone actin’ a fool in public, you have some growing up to do yourself.
IMO, Zeke shouldn’t be suspended or this behavior. But he needs to grow up and start acting like a grown man instead of an immature fool.
