That would have to be one of the most satisfying and rewarding careers EVER! You'd probably push your pillows off the bed in your sleep and wake up with a stiff neck, but I think that's a small price to pay for having such a great job.
Lol

I think I'm going to start doing crappy work so people won't hire me so much!!! I'm way too old to work these hours, but the youngsters just aren't doing a great job. What I keep hearing.

Young people need to take some brown nosing classes.
Raise your fee. That way, if people do hire you, it'll be worth it.

Good afternoon Pops and friends. The temp is 86 and humidity is 71%. My 16 year old gson and I went out for a jog while ago. We only jogged one mile and walked two. He slowed his pace quite a bit to keep my slow pace but we still beat the 9 minute mark. It’s just too hot for this old guy to continue past that. During our 2 mile walk, he told me he’s going to invent a time machine so he can go back in time and hang out with me when I was 16 lol. He’ll have to go back 49 years. Whoa, what a different world it was back then.

Enjoy this day. Hope everyone is doing well.
My nephew has said on several occasions that he would love to have been around when my brothers and I were young. I'm glad he wasn't. The odds of all of us surviving to adulthood would probably be too low.

Afternoon Pops and friends. It's hot here. I want a spring do over. I hope all are safe after the storms. Tornadoes are just miserable varmints that should be outlawed.

And you're a good source of entertainment too! I'm sorry ksk, I should have put me down for a nap instead of getting in CZ all loopy and announcing my amusement at your suffering. I'd still find it funny, but I wouldn't put my twisted sense of humor on display.

Not as much fun as Street's job, but great source material for many many many laughs. You'd probably wake yourself up laughing. :lmao:

 Oh Lord!

We luvs ya lotsies when you're loopy!!!!!!!

Morning Pops and Friday folk! Looks like it's gonna be around 70 degrees today, here in CT. It's been in the 60s and 70s all week, and the weekends supposed to be gorgeous! This is the first time in several years we've actually had something that resembles Spring, rather than just jumping from Winter to Summer. Even someone like me can't help but be in a slightly better mood!

Hope y'all have great weather where you are, and have a fantastic weekend!

CC, remember only the good today, please!

Good Morning Pops and all you 3 day weekenders from a 7 day weekender. I am still working to separate the weekends when there's no football to tell me so. And a 3 day holiday weekend was always special and this day, the Friday before Memorial Day, for quite a few years was extra special as we'd be headed to Crystal Beach to spend it with our friend and her Mom. I told my wife we should fly down and take a RV rehabmobile back after all of the alcohol we'd consume. I still laugh about us telling each other "OK, we're going to behave this time and not get crazy" all the while knowing we were lying to each other but we sounded sincere.

This weekend we celebrate those brave Americans that served our country, especially those that gave the ultimate sacrifice, and I will celebrate them by watching WWII and Vietnam war movies, particularly Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Hacksaw Ridge and Saving Private Ryan.

Saving Private Ryan has a special place in my heart as when we saw it in the theater a man sat next to my wife with his son. He was in his 80's and rather frail and thin and as that unforgettable scene unfolded of the invasion, the man gripped the seat in front of him so hard I thought he might hurt his hands. His son took his left hand and my wife took his right and they held them as tears streamed down his face and my wife's as well as he relived the most horrifying time of his life. I bought that movie when it came out and she would not watch it again.

When it ended, we just sat there instead of trying to beat the crowd and I noticed the unusually high count of men the same age group as this gentleman. His son told us that his Dad had been on that beach in the first wave and each man to the side of him was killed getting off the landing craft but like most didn't like to talk about it. We hugged the man as we left and I don't know if it was a good thing that he came to see that but I did read that the ones that did come to see it found it healing that people actually saw what it was like for them. Still the most impactful 20 minutes I've ever seen on film. If art imitates life that was a masterpiece.

Today would have been our 51st anniversary and I am reminded of another battle. The one she courageously fought against the most cunning and deceitful monster of our times. She lost the battle for her body but not the war for her essence, that lives on. I will cry today but not for her, it is for myself for if that better place does exist, I know she is there.

Morning, Pops and pen pals. TGIF! I finished all the work on my brothers estate and paid everyone what was due and what was inherited yesterday. It's a relief to have in all done. Today is my g daughter's graduation. Tomorrow we all are taking a 2 1/2 day trip through the national and state redwood parks along the pacific coast. My MIL has never seen the redwood trees so this will be a first for her. Y'all have a good day and a wonderful holiday.

Afternoon Pops and friends. Hoping for a kind day filled with good memories, Coach. Happy Anniversary. To everyone, hoping it's a good weekend for all. Sounds like excellent weather for you, Runny. It's hovering around 90 again today. No big plans for Memorial Day here, but wishing everyone else a great three day weekend. I haven't decided on which chores to ignore in honor of the special day, but know I will ignore them with aplomb.

Morning Pops and goombahs. Had a better than usual day yesterday considering it was my anniversary and the day we usually took off for Crystal Beach. I talk with our friend down there last night and while we both got emotional, we laughed a lot about some of the things we got into down there on the holidays and how much we both hate "Sweet Home Alabama", the Southern anthem of the Redneck Riviera. So strange to think that we lost her and our friend lost her home, there's more there than just an empty piece of beach.

I used to love 3 day weekends because Sunday night was a bonus Saturday night doubling up on my chances to get in trouble. Now, I have to relive my bad behavior through memory because I just don't have the energy to get into trouble but I do miss it. I worked to live and never liked Sunday nights. I had to use them to psyche myself up to face another week.

I hope you all enjoy this 3 day weekend and when you can, take the time to think about why we celebrate this, it's the opening of grilling season for all those crazy Yankees that think there's a grilling season. Silly Yankees, grills are for using year round. Winter? Oh hell yeah, you don't need coozies to keep your beer cold.

Thanks to those brave souls that gave everything so we can bittch and complain about how bad we've got it without fear of reprisal. And I admit it, I get so caught up in that sometimes I forget I live in the greatest country in the world and some gave all to keep it that way.

Afternoon Pops and friends. Congratulations on Spring finally coming Runny. I envy the 70s you're having. The 80's are pretty nice too, but to us, 110 isn't that far away. It's when the news tries to be cleaver and cooks eggs on the sidewalk. Similar to throwing boiling water into the air up north when it's really, really cold. The Mud Bug Festival is going on right now. You can get crawdad ice cream which they ate on the news last night as they covered the event. Why, oh why did they get a young girl to do the story? So much squealing before tasting. I wanted to fix her some dog turd ice cream (before you ask, no I don't have a recipe). The news announcer declared her brave. I'm pretty grumpy so a nap may be in my future. I'll have to see how much of me I can tolerate before making the call.

I'm glad your anniversary wasn't half bad, Coach. You are half of the reason for the anniversary. The mischievous half, but still. I agree on the Sunday night bit.

Grilling season is definitely year round in this area. Want to aggravate the crap out of me, go ahead and grill something delicious smelling while I'm working in the yard. I'll get hungry and have to go inside and nuke something. I'm certain I belong on that reality show with the worst cooks in America. The first challenge is to make your best dish for the judges to try out. Unless I have access to a can opener, I'll have to whip out a box of macaroni and cheese. God bless the people that made sure I have the freedom to drive through places.

Have a good week end everyone and stay safe.
