You know I actually didn't know that the NFL had changed their tax exempt status so I appreciate you educating me on that. However, it still doesn't make the NFL a Corporation. I was wrong on the taxes thou, so thank you for that.
I think they were exempt, and at some point that changed. They should pay taxes.

So if it was a meeting that was open to owners only, I wonder how Florio knows what was discussed?

Either way, Jerry saying whatever does not mean the league is going to do it. Again I ask, an this time don't sidestep the question, what is the benefit for the NFL to do this?
Well Jerry has a vested interest, he wants it relaxed, so he can play his pet project gregory.
That may be the only way he ever gets to play.

Marinol, I think is schedule iii and it's synthetic THC. I've been told that it is not as effective as "medical marijuana", however; i'm no Doctor, and I'm getting most of my info second hand.

I have heard amazing things about Epidiolex (cannabidiol) which recently was approved to treat Dravet and LGS.

It's been out for nearly a year, but has had limited use as an adjunct for Lennox-Gastaut and Dravet type seizures, showing in clinical trials decreased seizure activity of approximately 20%, when used in combination with other drugs.

Side effects were minimal, but included nausea, diarrhea, and hepatic irritation.

The point is:

Evidence of my point: Jerry Jones
Evidence of yours: zilch.

And I answered your question before with the same wishcasting you use: because they want the praise of a Congressional resolution praising their actions. We both have the same amount of proof that it will happen.

What's amusing is that it flies right over your head.

So let me understand here. If you are not actually an owner, you can't speak about the League, is that about it? This is why I can't take you serious. I mean, how ridiculous is that?

It's called the burden of proof. You don't get to speak for others absent proof that they think/feel that way. Back up your claims, it's not a difficult concept.

So then, you can't give a reason why the NFL would want to do this?

Couple of things here:

A) a question is not an argument. My answering or not answering proves nothing.
b) i did answer just not in the way you wanted. I pointed out how your question was self assuming and thus flawed. What's sad is you cannot even recognize it.

The individual teams have to pay Corporate taxes

The NFL Office was tax-exempt as all their revenues are distributed back to the teams after expenses

They gave up that exemption a few years ago so they didn't have to report Goddell's outrageous pay package of over 44m a year

Im surprised it was not brought up already, But the start of the MJ hate went back into the early 20th century. I know most of the 30+ crowd has had to see in school, but I wouldnot be surprised if the younger crowd has. Reefer Madness, I love when they try to say its worse than heroin :D . We today have the advantage of having the power of information at a touch of a button ... So people went with what they heard.

What about 147% increase in marijuana-induced fatality rates in a 4 year period do you not understand? And that's only concerning 1 state! Do you need for me to do your homework for you and list the increase in % in the other states that have legalized marijuana?

I understand perfectly. Marijuana is detectable for weeks. Just because more people had detectable amounts of marijuana in their system doesn't mean they were high at the time of their accident. The same cannot be said for alcohol. Your statistics only prove that marijuana use increased (shocker, it was legalized), not that it was responsible for more deaths. By the same standard, all death-related accidents probably involved a person who drank milk within the last month.

You clearly don't understand a single thing about the differences in detection windows of various substances, and you apparently don't have a clue about how percentages work.

Please, do my homework. Prove to me that marijuana withdrawal kills more people than alcohol withdrawal. Prove to me that chronic marijuana use kills more people than chronic alcohol use. Prove to me that all-cause mortality for marijuana is greater than that of alcohol.

20% is not a small number when compared to the fact that according to the Government, Schedule I drugs have no medical use, and severe safety concerns.

Here is the clinical study (Epidiolex) If anyone wishes to read it.:
https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2018/210365lbl.pdf

University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Aurora, CO:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30616356

Here is a study from GW Pharmaceuticals (maker of Epidiolex) on a new study; Seizures Associated With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex
http://ir.gwpharm.com/node/10741/pdf

“Some of the most challenging and frustrating aspects of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) are seizures that cannot be effectively controlled by existing medications,” explained Kari Luther Rosbeck, President and CEO of the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, “A new safe and effective treatment option such as Epidiolex is desperately needed. Further, we are grateful to GW, the researchers and the members of the TSC community who participated in this clinical trial. We are truly excited about the potential approval of Epidiolex to treat seizures in TSC as it brings much needed hope to those with TSC and their families who live daily with this difficult disorder.”

I don't believe there is a magic bullet for epilepsy especially Lennox-Gastaut and Dravet which are mostly life killing, but cannabidiol have certainly given some hope to those suffering with those intractable diseases, I'm not saying that Epidiolex is a cure all, Epidiolex is only a first step, what I am saying what everyone should be demanding is more tests and above all, for Marijuana to be removed from the Schedule I testing so that we can allow medical professionals to test this plant and find out how we can use it to better the lives of everyone including NFL players.

Today's marijuana is way more potent than 20+ years ago. I've already listed scientific links along with state mortality rates by drivers under the influence. It's obvious you don't agree, which is your right. Toke away all you want. Don't complain later when it starts seriously affecting your health.

PS: this is not your grandfather's marijuana. This one is much more potent and continued to scientifically get even more potent as the years go by. It's potency is not being regulated or restricted, whereas alcohol's potency does.

I have no idea what you're arguing about, Cannabis products are required to be tested and labeled for the amount of THC and CBD they contain in any legal dispensary, all you're saying is that Cannabis should be legal.

What you guys refuse to understand is that if the NFL includes supposed "medically controlled" cannabis into the league, many players are going to use that as an excuse to get the way more potent version from the streets...and use it.

that is a bunch of nonsense......of course more people are dying while driving stoned.....of course they are

To say otherwise is ludicrous

And to bring up alcohol is a false comparison..... it is also bad.....you figured it out.... no one is recommending that these guys self medicate with alcohol either or opioids

All you are doing is excusing marijuana use to get high by trying to make it something it isn't... the advocates have made an effective argument to fool the public but it is still just a drug that gets you high... it may be legal now just like your evil alcohol but that doesn't make it good medicine .... it just masks the pain

They do sell high potent THC in legal dispensary's which tells you exactly how much THC you are getting, why would an NFL player risk going to the streets to get an unknown amount of THC when he can go to a legal dispensary and get exactly what he wants?

There is no such thing as "medically controlled" cannabis, it just doesn't exist supposed or otherwise.

What excuse are you talking about?

Your arguments don't make any sense.

Because a majority of them that already use street level marijuana, which is very potent, would not qualify as medically needing it. How would the league be able to stop or control them? These players would show up high every day to practice, plus the games. How would the league be able to control them at that point? It would simply open the floodgates.

Exactly. They are making excuses because they are likely users themselves. It never fails.
