QB (2) Dak and White. Either Rush or a new QB goes to the PS. We need the spots this year and can’t afford to keep 3. Rush simply doesn’t have the arm

RB (3) Zeke, Pollard and Weber. Sadly the DJax experiment comes to an end. Chubb stays on the PS for depth

FB (1) Olawale. Didn’t think he would be back and then he got a 3 year deal. Hoping this means Moore figures out ways to use him

TE (3) Witten, Jarwin and Schultz. No more Rico. Hopefully our youngsters continue to develop. Otherwise we might be spending a high pick on this position next year. I also think Moore will spread it out more, so a 4th isn’t needed

WR (7) speaking of spreading it out, doing so gives us 7. Although it could be six if the team thinks they can get one of the new kids thru waivers. Tempted to cut Austin but I think he makes it
Cooper, Gallup, Cobb, Brown, Wilson, Austin, one of the new kids. Just don’t see how Hurns can make the cut. And thankfully we will see the last of Leonir

OL (9) this group is subject to trade if someone calls during the summer.
Tyron, CWill, Beard, Zack, Collins, McGovern, Looney, Fleming, Hyatt

DL (9) getting to be a stout group
DLaw, Crawford (one more year), Taco, Hyder, Collins, Woods, Covington, Hill, Quinn
If Gregory gets reinstated I think they might carry 10 can cut from somewhere else. Even with 10 some real good talent might get cut. Hopefully we can do some trading

LB (6) LVE, Smith, Lee, Thomas, Covington, March-Lillard. This group could easily be 5 if they go longer elsewhere

CB (5) Jones, Chido, Brown, Lewis, Jackson.

S (4) Woods, Iloka, Heath, Wilson.

ST (3)

This actually comes out to 52. Hmmm

Feel free to add Hurns back.

A healthy Hurns, which he'd have to be to get cut, is likely to make the roster.

I know everyone wants to bury Rico, but he was on the field a fair bit as a blocker as the year went along. Seems silly to have invested all this time, finally get your "I want to be a superstar pass catching TE" invest in blocking enough to trust him on the field, and then cut him.

I do wonder what they'll do at QB, especially since they didn't draft or sign anyone just yet.

Only 2 QBs and 3 TEs frees up roster spots more needed.

For now I swap out Wilson and add Hurns. But if they keep 7, it will be Wilson or one of the new kids.
Swap out Hyatt and add Redmond,

I need to see Wilson in TC, and not buying into the Hyatt hype yet. Need to see him too.

Add Armstrong as a 10th DL, maybe that was your 53rd guy as you said you had 52.

Frazier May make it as a10th DB if they keep only 6 WRs.

I'd like nothing better than to see Rico make a major leap in his development in TC this year. I'm sure it'd be a pleasant surprise for many of us if he finally displayed a reasonable semblance of knowing what to do and how to do it. It might be something of a longshot, although stranger things have happened in many a given year. Some just take longer than others. Here's hoping that well-known gamble that we took on Rico finally pays off. ;)

Totally forgot Armstrong. Like I said, crazy depth along the DL.

Agreed

Agreed

Disagree. Rico has to make the team. Too much potential, plus he keeps improving. Witten is only going to be here another year or two to see if he can win a ring before retiring for good, so Rico needs to stay and keep improving. If you cut Rico, Cowboys will be left with only 2 TEs after Witten retires for good a year or two from now.

7 WRs seems a like 1 too many, but it could work out, especially if one of the UDFA rookies with speed shows good potential. I personally am iffy about Noah Brown and Austin because both are very limited players, plus tend to get injured.

Agreed, except you left out Armstrong. I say 1 of the signed free agents doesn't make it, or Taco gets traded if he doesn't show improvement this summer.

LB (6) LVE, Smith, Lee, Thomas, Covington, March-Lillard. This group could easily be 5 if they go longer elsewhere

Agreed

CB (5) Jones, Chido, Brown, Lewis, Jackson.

Agreed

S (4) Woods, Iloka, Heath, Wilson.

Agreed, even though I personally am iffy about Iloka and would hate to lose Frazier over another team's "has been" (Iloka).

ST (3)

Agreed

This actually comes out to 52. Hmmm

Since you came out with 52 instead of 53, that leaves an open spot for Rico "Suave" Gathers to make the team once again and keep improving. Count Rico in. There is your 53 manned team.

as I look at that 53 the new blood that impresses me most is Jackson - IMO the best player we drafted this year

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2837684-predicting-every-nfl-teams-surprise-rookie-gem#slide6

much like Brown and Jones he has real prototype talent, but stronger and with far more deep speed
in a foot race Cooper, Gallup, and Pollard would gain ground on Brown and Jones, not Jackson.

he tracks and attacks the ball better than any DB on this roster - and pretty game ready right now.

Like Brown, it's stunning to be this kid wasn't a top 100 pick - he adds awesome athletic depth to an already talented unit - he will play probable as much as Brown as Lewis

don't be surprised in he plays some S as well

Cooper, Gallup, Cobb, Brown, Wilson, Austin, one of the new kids. Just don’t see how Hurns can make the cut.

eventually, Wilson does bump Hurns ... he's simply a better X or Y, and I think a lot of Hurns - also I see no way Brown makes this team over Guyton

keep in mind Pollard may line up at any WR spot, and all 5 game day WRs and Pollard will be targeted every game

moreover - Cooper, Gallup, Austin, Pollard, and Guyton have blazing deep speed and exceptional hands

these guys are dangerous

Is Xavier Su'a-Filo not signed through this year? Be surprised if he didn't make the team after how well he filled in last year

Worried about RB depth, for a team so reliant on a strong running game. Better hope those rookies pan out.

Rico is probably our best blocking TE, and with the most upside. I'm not counting him out. Witten/Schultz/Jarwin are much more redundant, and I expect TE to get downplayed as we use our various "web backs" out of the slot more often.

Hurns gives us a big body possession threat for 3rd down and red zone. I expect him to stay. I don't see them picking up his option just to cut him.
