Despite the fact that Zeke is probably the most talented player we have, IMO, today’s NFL is not built around RBs taking up lots of cap space. After Zeke’s option year, I would not be in favor of signing him to a big contract. His off field dependability remains an issue. He still acts like he’s in high school.

Today’s RBs have a much shorter shelf life than the past. Zeke has 868 carries so far in three seasons. This team should maximize him for the next two years. Because when that’s over, if I was GM I would low ball him and let some other team get cap strapped to a guy who by that time may already have fading skills.

EXACTLY!
1)Cooper
2)Dak
3)Zeke

Mates, hardy workaday oafs and contractors, today I ask, for general discussion, about priorities.

Yes.

Amari seeks riches.
Dak seeks riches.
Zeke seeks riches.

If you of thee Cowboys Fan Realm have 2 purses, to which of the 3 superstars would you throw? Which gladiators of the unfrozen tundra would you pick?

I would like to know how you rate these players in terms of riches.

2 are in.
1 is out.

Amari, Dak or Zeke?

Mine is Amari, Dak, Zeke, in that order.

Be ruthless, be practical, be fair.

Amari has us by the @alls as we invested a no 1 pick so he is a must!
Zeke is our offense and we have seen what happens (suspension) when he's not playing.
Dak still has 1 more year and you still have the cap option but don't exclude us moving up and drafting a QB in the next Draft as Dak is Dak and his forte is driving the bus that is not worth top QB paycheck.
So Amari and Zeke are it baby!
Dak can and must wait!

I like Zeke, but I agree. Plus, his off-season shenanigans, like the one he just pulled, makes me think we can't trust him long term to stay out of trouble.

Zeke has 3 years left in his prime tops. Dak and Amari are long term players.

While I agree on dak and amari I firmly disagree on zeke

Zeke turns 24 in July and I would not say he is out of his prime until his 29th bday which is 5 seasons away...saying that zeke is going to be out of his prime at 27 seems far fetched esp for a generational talent that is very durable.

Durable considering his physical play....his physical play is why we will start to see a decline sooner rather than later. Love Zeke and what he does but no one should be surprised if he is not worth big money by the age of 27.

I don’t think you can dismiss Zeke out of hand like that. He’s not just a pro bowl be, he’s a historically producing, perennially all-pro rb.

What would you have been the last 3 years without him? Why is that preferable?

The problem with paying Zeke is simply that running backs routinely crap the bed by their mid-late 20s. He's about to turn 24 and he's touched the ball over 1,000 times already. He's been incredibly valuable, but the problem is you can't assume that will continue because he's being run into the ground by the Cowboys.

There is this concern, but at the same time, it's not that easy to walk away from the chance at an Emmitt Smith or Walter Payton or Ladanian Tomlinson who keep producing at a high level into their 30's. It's a gold mine if a team gets that, and it's hard to decide it's not worth going for the gold mine.

Amari is the linchpin. Dak is not replaceable right now. Zeke isn't really replaceable talent for talent, but he is expendable.

Dak is out. Sorry.
With Amari and Zeke, we could have a free agent signee like Case Keenum, Ryan Fitzpatrick or Joe Flacco drive the bus. The way this team is assembled right now, and elite quarterback puts us into the Super Bowl for sure. Even with a bus driver, we have a good chance of getting there.

This is going to be unpopular but I would move Amari if one of the three has to go. Amari was necessary last year because we had zero talent (speed) at WR. Cobb May lessen the need for Amari and we have a couple of burners at WR now.

The plan we started with last year might actually work now that the Beasley limitations have been removed. He was too one dimensional.

We have some talent at WR. The Johnson kid could stick around. Sounds like he’s making a push.

Sign Cooper now.

Let Dak play out this year and then make a long term decision after seeing him play in Moore’s offense.

Let Zeke play out his option year and then tag him, twice if you must, then let him walk.

I like Gallup but there isn’t a WR on this roster that is as talented and as good as Cooper.

Run fast doesn’t necessarily mean play well. Cooper is the only WR we have IMO thatvhas true #1 type qualities. Everyone else is a #2, at best, type WR. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Everyone is so quick to Throw Zeke away. Yes Rbs have a shorter life in the NFL and generally esier to replace then a Top WR. The problem is who has been a more consistent proven contributor? If your Honest with yourselves you will pick Zeke .... Amari only had a half a season of production and playing for more money. Zeke has been a solid rock in offense last 3 years. Even towards the end of season Amari was doing less and Zeke more. Do you really pay a WR top 5 money for only a small preview ... remember he led NFL in drops 2 years prior .... before you say it ..... Carrs numbers went up after Amari left. You also spent a first rounder on the guy ..... Its a tuff situation and wrong choice could affect the team greatly.

DAL is a run first team, so they could stick to that type of team building, which a top dollar WR may be a luxury.

How one feels about Gallup's ability to morph into a WR1 or how one feels about a WR heavy 2020 draft would prolly make this strategy appealing.
