Yes, you "Hate" a competitive player on a team you have zero control over and you're preaching? Go away.

Certainly I do. I hate all bad players on any team I root for.

It's not really a problem when I'm dealing with men.

Yet some can't wait for him to stumble and fall.

Since I watched a lot of him at Miss St, I saw this kid that made his name with his legs so when he faced the best D's in college ball, they forced him to stay in the pocket because no HC in college hates to face mobile QB's more than Saban. The difference between Dak the dual threat and the pocket QB was his HC, Dan Mullen, a noted QB guru and known to get the most out of his QB's like Alex Smith and Tim Tebow. No NFL coach was able to get more out of Tebow than Mullen did so he's got some serious cred.

I am optimistic that Moore and Kitna can plug into that part of Dak that Mullen did but Linehan seemed unable to do and I am assuming there was some disagreement between Linehan and Moore on how to handle Prescott.

It's his story that gets me and almost Romoesque. That's the root of sports to me and the reason I love it. It's that kid beating the odds, doing what others said he couldn't do. Prescott got on the Heisman list as a junior and also on the SEC DC watch list and had a disappointing season and his stock fell. The team that took him didn't even have him close to the top of the list and even tried giving up picks to take another QB. He comes in as a project 3rd string QB and we know the rest of this story.

I think some will not admit that they want their DC QB with a pedigree, not a story like Romo and Prescott have.

I've had a special place in my heart for Dak because we share the pain of loss of our most loved one but exacerbated by the fact that was the one person in the world that believed in us more than anyone else. So, I pull for him and every time I see him point to the sky, that makes me feel good.

A guy defying the odds to become the most high profile player in all of sports and to top that off, replacing one with an even greater story, that's what sports are all about to me. That some powerful stuff right there.

Amen.

Most of the people that hate Dak are the same ones who drew an initial conclusion about him that was incorrect. They don’t have the courage to change their minds because that would mean their initial evaluation was flawed ... heaven for bid. They aren’t true fans of the team, they are fans of themselves. So many of those types reside here.

The truth is Dak saved this franchise. He’s far from perfect, of course a 4th round pick would be, but nonetheless everyone’s initial thought after Romo’s injury in that fateful preseason game against Seattle was “omfg no, we’re doomed” ... mine included. There were no possible dreams big enough that could possibly imagine the team would go 13-3, best record in Cowboy history btw, and that our young afterthought of a midround QB would go mano a mano with a future 1st ballot HOFer in the playoffs before falling short because of another questionable defensive performance.

I was always a huge Romo fan, but he had the benefit of a receiver that was one of the very best in NFL history through his 1st 5 years, a future HOF TE, and don’t forget, a RB who ran for the most yards in the history of this storied franchise.

Dak was drafted to a team that was in transition offensively. Since he was drafted, the entire receiving core has been turned over and that HOF TE has retired once. Yet still, the team managed all winning seasons and 2 division titles in 3 year under his watch. But winning isn’t a QB stat they say. Lol, of course it isn’t. That’s why almost all of the historical greats have team success as their singular most distinguishing quality as they strut their way into the HOF. What a ridiculous assertion. Of course the most important player on the field directly affects team success more often than not.

Dak is about to have a terrific year, as is the team. I can’t wait to hear the excuses once he does from our most “loyal fans”.

That's a bit much.

At the time it wasn't. Even now it applies.

Who didn't fear 4-12 when Romo went down? Be honest. And years of trying to fight our way out of QB hell? We've been through it .... recently. Dak's presence made that long exhausting search go away.

I'd rather they accomplish something before crowning him. He stepped into a better situation than most rookie QBs and has yet to prove he can put the offense on his back when the run game is shutdown. He's not garbage, so don't come at me as if I'm saying something I'm not, but he's still got a lot to prove.

I'm not coming at you man, sorry if it felt that way. I understand needing to see more, makes sense. You don't represent the crowd I am directing my post towards.

I'm not anointing him btw. I agree more needs to be seen. This year will be huge. The kid already has skins on the wall though, there are those who pretend he does not.

I didn't think you were coming at me... yet. Lol

Just been doing this long enough to feel the need to disclaim anything that comes off as less than glowing.

and a decent offensive performance...don't forget we were down 23-7 until late in the game....the final score was a window dressing more than a competent offensive performance.

If defense was adequate, daks time of possession would of led to more scoring opportunities and a better flow.

wait. whaattat!!? if defense was better offense TOP would be better. we had the ball 4 times in the first half... three of the possessions were 2:20, 0.55, 2:52....how about the offense put together some nice long drive. get a field goal may for the sake of it!!! instead of not converting 3rd downs and getting off the field so quickly.

that made no sense at all!!! zero. seriously...that was a stretch response to why our OFFENSIVE TOP was bad...blaming the defense!!! how about not giving the ball back to the other team so quickly!!! do your job!!! score some points!!!

Dak is part of a huge upswing in the present Dallas offensive unit. But like him or not, this is where he is as a player:

Prescott has his warts, no doubt. His stretch from midseason 2017 through Week 7 of 2018 was disastrous and had many form their final opinion that he is not worthy to be a starter in the league. Outside of that, though, he’s played like one of the best QBs in the game. His rookie season was phenomenal, he was a dark horse MVP threat until losing Ezekiel Elliott and Tyron Smith midseason and then everything fell apart.

They stayed broken, horrible footworks, bad mechanics and a complete lack of self-confidence until the team went out and got him a No. 1 receiver in Amari Cooper and he was lights out ever since. Now the club has gotten him an OC he believes in and the offensive line seems to be rejuvenated to 2016 levels and he should thrive again.

His career numbers are eye-popping, with 66.1 completion percentage, 67 TDs against just 25 INTs and a 96.0 passer rating to go along with 18 rushing scores. He’s great in clutch moments and has led his team to two division championships in three-years and he may finally be able to work out the kinks in his throwing game. Prescott will have plenty of competition starting this year, but for now he’s the division’s best QB.

If Dak is feeling more comfortable and he is sharper and more accurate then this team is a SB contender because we are stacked almost everywhere. One thing is certain. Once cooper got here Dak looked good. He will be better this year. Do you guys think his production will match the contract he is looking for? What types of numbers does he need to reach for the contract and for a good season.

Dak.....

2-3 wins for a year and going to playoffs qualifies it as such

touch? really? when? same flaws then as he has now.... he completes a lot of passes, but that's not necessarily equal accuracy, but mostly because he is safe. he was far from perfect and if that was your definition of perfect, then you have a very low bar, which means there are a lot of quarterbacks above that bar[/QUOTE
