Dak already has better numbers than Wentz and it's widely believed he has more areas to improve in as a passer. By that definition alone he has a higher ceiling. Imagine his numbers once he refines his weaknesses. And unlike Wentz, Dak's progress won't be inhibited by his injuries.

He does not have better numbers than Wentz looking at it as "upside" . Daks numbers look better because of his first year. Wentz has improved greatly since his first year. Take their first years out and Wentz's numbers blow Daks away.

Just look at the QBR
Wentz
year 1 79.3
year 2 101.9
year 3 102.2

Now Dak
year 1 104.9
year 2 86.6
year 3 96.9

That my friend is the definition of "upside" what Wentz is doing.

Im not even arguing who the better QB is here. Im talking about this upside nonsense.

But only a fool would not trade Dak for Wentz straight up. Doesnt mean Dak is bad and doesnt mean Dallas cant win with Dak.

They offered him 100 million guaranteed. That’s a deal a injured player can’t refuse.
Exactly, but he's not injured. Any quarterback would take it because playing the position is quite honestly dangerous. Your career could come to an end at any time. I think it was like 107 million guaranteed? You gotta be nuts not to take the guarantees in the NFL where contracts for the most part aren't guaranteed.

Dak is already better than Wentz, has accomplished more, and has a lot more upside as well, so whatever Wentz signed for should be the baseline for Dak’s new deal.
Uhmm.... let me clear my throat.

Wentz would have been the NFL MVP had he not blown his knee out. Last year he was returning from the injury. Who knows what will happen moving forward, but Dak has not played at the level Wentz was playing at when he got injured. Who knows what will happen moving forward.

So now the benchmark is set in stone. I couldnt care less about the total numbers and guarantees but it better not average out to more than $25.8 million per year.

Actually the math should now be simple.

$25.8 million x 5 = $129 million
$25.8 million -$2 million = $23.8 million
$129 million + $23.8 million = $152.8 million

So announce a 5 year $152.8 million extension which makes it a total of 6 years for $154.8 million which gives you an average of $25.8 million per year. The average for the new money over the New 5 years is $30.56 million which is close enough. He will be getting more new money this year because his current salary is so low. Structure it anyway you want but it better not surpass that in average per year. I don’t like it. I think it’s way too much for Dak at this point with what he has shown so far but it is what it is and there’s no other way around it except to let him go or franchise him which I think is unlikely because the team wants a long term deal and these are the numbers needed for that to happen.

come to an end at any time?? How many QBs in you rlifetime had their career ended due to injury? Dont bring up someone like Theisman who was already at the very end of his career when he got injured.

He's an unrestricted free agent after this season. Unless I've missed something, I have no idea what you're talking about. There is no fifth-year option for Prescott because he wasn't a first-round pick unlike Wentz. The Cowboys control Prescott's rights for this year, and the Eagles control the rights of Wentz for the next 2.

Look it up.

True, but they could franchise for 2 years (which I wouldn't recommend). So while there's no 5th year option, they do control his rights.

Pay Dak now before he gets even more expensive.

He still has a ring to show off. I guess Dak can put a beer can tab on his finger and gloat about how fast he can down a beer.

Because Dak has already proven he’s a winner. Only the GOAT has more wins since Dak entered the league 3 years ago, and no QB has more game-winning drives during that period.

The Cowboys could have signed Dak for $30 million a year. Now they will likely have to pay $32 million. Next year it could be $35 million if he has a good season. It’s always a risk signing a player to a big contract, but it’s also a risk if they don’t and the price continues to go up.
If you’re using team wins as a measurement then only Belichick has been a greater HC than Garrett in same time frame.

Market value doesn't care about your biased opinion.
Lol

You think Dak should be paid near the top? Market value for an average QB is presented with this list.

Slobbering Dak fans are going to limit our potential moving forward.

You don't understand. It doesn't matter what you "think" he's worth. It's about the market value. It doesn't matter what you "think" he's worth, the staff is in on him whether you like it or not.
Stop with the idiotic garbage. Your obsession with calling people gross names is beyond ignorant. I'm not defending him, he's middle of the road statistically. But there's more to it and he's going to get signed. Fans have no input.

The longer you wait KNOWING you're keeping him, the higher the market value goes up.
Wentz just got a very sizable contract and he can't even remain on the field. What do you think a QB who hasn't missed a snap will get?

That’s passer rating, not QBR. Here is QBR:

Wentz
year 1 46.7 (26th)
year 2 78.5 (1st)
year 3 64.3 (12th)

Now Dak
year 1 77.6 (3rd)
year 2 69.9 (4th)
year 3 57.7 (17th)

Then pay him what middle of the market demands. It’s why I provided this list of salaries. Dak should be in the 12th - 16th range. Here it is again.

And you begun with the unbiased remark which I responded with your favorite slang. If you don’t think that’s a defensive response then perhaps you should re-evaluate.
