The deal is basically a 25 mil per year deal over the next 6 seasons, as I see it. The guaranteed portion of this deal is 107 million and not 128 million. You can call it what you want but that's what it is. The lease thing is all well and good but it doesn't change the bottom line of this contract X.
You shouldn't see it that way. He got 32MM in new money while under contract for 2 years already.

Wentz deal probably clarifies Dak’s deal and make it easier as it helps to set the market. It was a couple million/year less than I thought it would be, too, though they guaranteed him more than I thought they would. I don’t think it ends up being a roadblock for Dak, either way. The Cowboys are just taking their time, like they always do with these things.
You thought he'd get more than 32MM?

What is the guaranteed amount of the contract? I mean, this is not tough. Is it 107 over 4 years or not?

Wentz didn't shatter the qb market with his deal. He could have conceivably held out and topped Wilson, Rodgers and Worthlisberger's deals, but he didn't. So that's good for our 'Boys.

On the other hand, there is no chance Dak takes less than Wentz when it comes to his contract. Wentz has played at an MVP level for stretches, but Dak won Offensive Rookie of the Year and has never missed a game. He's won multiple division titles for the Cowboys. That matters. Also mattering? Dak IMO has been severely underpaid thus far in his career relative to Wentz.

Spending the first three/four years of his deal on a 4th round rookie salary will likely incentivize Dak to make as much money as he can on his next contract, especially considering his age 26, meaning he might get just two full length deals, although considering how the Cowboys operate he'll probably sign 13 extensions between now and 2025.

Getcha popcorn ready, Jerry will pay his boy more than Wentz. It may always be sunny in Philadelphia, but things are always bigger in Texas.

Well just have to see. I don’t know how the Eagles 5th year option offsets the sea we get on Dak’s 4th year rookie contract, but they’re otherwise comparable players from a contract standpoint. No matter what, though, having Wentz done at a sane number makes it easier to slot Dak, rather than harder.

Unless the guaranteed money was a lot higher than what we wanted to offer, but I do t imagine the guarantee was the issue so much with Dak as he’s been healthy and isn’t really a personality risk to stop playing hard after a big payday.

If the eagles were smart they would have worded his contract on a per game availability basis........he had injury issues in college if I recall correctly, which has followed him to the NFL.....to expect him to suddenly become "Ironman" is probably unrealistic.

The paranoia on this board, over Dak’s impending contract is just unbelievable sometimes.
What's so funny is if these people that want Dak to be paid 32 + mil had to pay out of their own pocket they would start squealing like stuck pigs.

If we get an average of 28 Million per year people will be happy about that. It's 33 Million a year that has most folks freaked out.
And if Dak gets 5/33 per added to this year, that works out to just under 28 for the 6 years. Let's see how it plays out. Dak is getting paid, there is no doubt about that now

Did you see the hit he took in the Seattle game when it was like 3rd and 14. He has 944 career rushing yds. He runs more than a lot of QBs.
Thanks for backing off because in fact he doesn’t run a lot. In fact, everyone is calling for him to run more. I don’t necessarily agree with that unless it’s targeted possessions, i.e. inside the red zone.

This doesn’t really make any sense though.

If I was worth billions and owned an NFL team, I probably wouldn’t. Just like Jerry and the rest of the owners don’t.

I can't see Dak gettting that though. I mean, a contract can say anything but it really comes down to the Guaranteed portion, to me. I don't see him getting 33 per guaranteed over a long period of time.

Lets make no mistake about this, Wentz gave the Eagles a massive hometown discount. With remaining money owed ($154 M) and 6 years that is an avg of $25.7 Mill year. If Wentz even sniffs another MVP type year, that contract becomes most favorable team contract in all of sports. Wentz is only the #9th highest paid QB in football with top 3 potential. Garoppolo & Stafford are still ahead of him in avg yearly number (let that sink in). Wentz contract will allow Eagles to be aggressive in FA or resigning their players.

Now for Cowboys, Wentz hometown discount contract put Dallas in a bad spot because Dak will want more. That won't play out well on national or local level because most see Wentz as superior talent. Every game Dak contract will be compared to Wentz. Every losing streak will come back to Dak contract. Its really this simple. Since Wentz & Dak new contracts are happening at same time, If Dak makes more money then he has to out-perform Wentz over next six years. IMO thats wishful thinking.

thay's hilarious. You're Dak's agent are ya Woodsie! Tell us what you know oh wise owl. Ya, I didn't think so

Come again?

He got a 4 year 32MM per extension. Thats the new money.

Only 107 Mil is Guaranteed. A contract can say anything but it's what the team actually guarantees you get paid. Not what the contract actually says. That is what Players and Agents pay attention to. We've already discussed this in this thread and many others.

He is guaranteed to get paid 107 mil, not 128 or 132 or whatever.

Your argument is not with me it's with the sport. But since you make such a valid point I'm sure the sport will stop attaching win/loss records to high school quarterbacks, to college quarterbacks, and to professional quarterbacks. Just cause you say so.
k...i wonder how much stock GMs and scouts give W/L...I mean it's not meaningless, but compared to arm talent and mental ability it is pretty close.
