Witten's right. He should attack the position lik he always has and If the young guys can beat him out for the position we'll all be better off.

Witten's supposed to get around 25 reps a game, according to reports.

It may prove somewhat interesting to see what happens in that regard.

If you’re overthrowing to the TE. You’re either not getting it to the outside or you’re just unable to make the throws. Not saying Dak can’t, but overusing that check down means a problem exists somewhere else. This is their best offense in years so that should not be the case.
How dare you not be a Debbie downer?!?!?!?!?!

Hopefully, Witten is the 5th or 6th option for this offense next year.
More than likely he'll be the 2nd/3rd option,,,er,,, till the O.L. proves it can allow the processing time required it would take a q.b. to analyze that many "reads",,,least ways that's what I'm
" picturing " Bob.

so you want Rico over Witten? Yah, I missed all that.

Witten is head and shoulders better then anyone else we have at blocking, catching, getting open, leadership.

I can understand wanting to move on at the position, but not when we have no one else. It should have been abundantly clear after the horror show last year with our TE in both the run and passing game.

For me, Witten is a welcome site until we get someone worthy of unseating him.

That’s fine. I’d still want the young guys to get reps.

That’s fine. You just said I don’t see why the young guys can’t do what he does. I was just showing you that in their first year getting snaps without witten, they all fell short of wittens worst season

Witten is not and will never be the future of this team. He's one-and-done.

If he's playing better than Jarwin or Schultz? Fine, give him those snaps. Play your best players. But if the TE position isn't getting as many snaps overall as in years past in Moore's offense? I don't want to hear him grumbling about it.

37 years old after a year off, we'll see what the coaches do with that? He can block and catch but he's also part of a TE committee.. that's where he's at at this point in his career and that's where the team is at today. Makes no sense to think he'll go back to anything close to the the type of production he had before retirement.

i still dont like this move, having a HOF TE didnt get us anything, so i dont feel we eed a HoF TE going forward, however we need younger and more athetic and i think that was coming on late int eh season

Witten was getting beat at blocking half the time his last 2 years. That's not including the many times he would go false start on many key 3rd & short plays, resulting in killed drives. Did you forget so soon or did you not realize it?

Schultz and Jarwin stink at blocking. Rico stunk at first until he started to understand his proper blocking assignments halfway through last season. On 1 play at the goal line where Dak ran in for a TD, Rico caved in the whole left side with a monster block. Rico also had several good blocks towards the end of the season. I guess you missed those?
He had one false start in 2017, three in 2016. Each happened on 1st down.

EDIT: Realized I was late to the party, although the 1st down was added info. Didn't mean to pile on.
