In a few years time, why would anyone buy an ICE car when electric will have a longer range, cheaper, more additional technology (smart cars), more convenient - no need to visit gas stations, greater range of models, more powerful.

I have an electric car and a gas powered car, it makes sense for us and we basically use the electric car for most short trips and my wife's commute, which is only a few miles.

But we live in LA where the charging infrastructure is well developed, that isn't true everywhere. Also unless you really love Tesla's and price isn't an issue, a major factor in your purchase decision is the subsidies - which may not be around much longer and won't be when there is greater adoption of EVs.

On top of that if your purchase decision is partly environmental and you live on the East Coast, the electricity powering your EV is coming mostly from Coal.

Same in a lot of places - ironic.

I know someone who bought a Tesla. Of course they say they love it. But it is one of those things you have to say you love it because you spent so much money on it you don't want to admit you may have made a mistake.
Now I can't say they don't want to admit it. But as they describe about having to stop and recharge it if on a long trip, or even local driving. Sometimes the charge time is way too long or have to wait. Maybe they don't mind waiting.
They ordered it, was told it may be about a year to get it. But then they had it ready in 6 months. This was a year or so ago.

There are a lot of charging stations supposedly but some times it can take up to 2 hours. Sometimes 30 minutes. It depends on the station. So if on a trip or vacation, what are you going to do for 2 hours.
What if you need to run to the store and then be somewhere in 15 minutes. Oh, I have to let it charge up. I can see where it could be a big inconvenience at times.
For me, just can't hop in the car, gas it up and get going. For now, someday they will have it to much shorter time and maybe even travel longer distances.

Maybe a solar powered car can be the answer.

This is what people used to say about cell phones....limited battery life, having to recharge etc.

I think we've hit the tipping point re electric cars. From mid 90s to mid 00s, mobile phones went from limited battery life/not as good as landline to smart phones. Electric cars are in a similar stage of rapid evolution.

In a few years time, why would anyone buy an ICE car when electric will have a longer range, cheaper, more additional technology (smart cars), more convenient - no need to visit gas stations, greater range of models, more powerful.

Im not a fan of electric vehicles, but I can see the manufacturers are going to stop producing ICE cars very soon - they've already abandoned developing a new generation of ICE models.

As for the taxes.....if they're already talking about taxing methane from cows grazing, ICE will be taxed out of existance.

Where do you think electricity comes from? It's not naturally occurring and they don't mine it. If all cars were electric tomorrow, the demand for electricity would skyrocket meaning coal, oil, and natural gas would be in great demand to produce that electricity. It doesn't matter what form the final product is in. Energy is energy and it will come from coal, oil, and natural gas for the foreseeable future.

Tesla's are great cars but it was a vanity thing until recently. The new Model 3s are only about 40K after the subsidies (10K in California), which is about what you would pay for a 3 series or A4.

The charging time is what people don't realize until they look into it, if you can install a level 2 charger in your garage and you have a 200 mile range its not an issue. But for a lot of people its a big issue.

The headline and article are accurate.

Jerry has invested 1.1B into Comstock.

Comstock is buying another company for 2.2B (not with Jerry’s money solely).

I am not sure what’s confusing here.
The article is named JJ buys, not Comstock

He knows football has a limited lifespan. Fewer kids are watching and playing. Don’t be surprised to see the Jones sell the team when Jerry goes.

Might be something to that. The game is slowly evolving to two-hand touch, coaches and players are beginning to complain that the game isn't fair enough (OT). Who knows...maybe Jerry thinks the NFL is heading toward flag football where everyone gets a participation trophy.

At a time when the world is turning to renewables, electric cars, carbon taxes etc....
Demand for oil & gas products will continue to grow into the 2040's and possibly beyond with China and India primary drivers of that growth.

Stephen, JJ jr. and Charlotte are fully invested in the Operating of the Dallas Cowboys Franchise. They will have no problem running this team and handing it off to the next generation of Jones. There will be no selling of the team.

I agree it will take time, but wont the price drop when demand drops? - which is going to happen soon with the pace at which electric cars are improving. Within 5 years most new cars will be electric. Havent most western countries agreed to a ban on new ICE cars by c.2030?
Even if true, the electricity used to charge these cars is sourced primarily from coal and natural gas.

You really don't believe this do you? As long as the NFL exists, the Cowboys will be ran by the Jones family.
