Dak has led his team into the playoffs twice; Wentz has not. Wentz has been injured in two of his three seasons; Dak has not.

Management can argue what-ifs all they want, but Dak has facts on his side to say that he should be paid the same or more than Wentz.

Numberwise through three years, Wentz 63.7 completion percentage, 70 TDs, 28 ints. (2 rushing Tds) for 92.5 rating. Dak 661. 67 TDs, 25 ints. (18 rushing TDs), 96.0 rating.

Wentz might ultimately turn out to be the better player, but there's no way that Dallas' front office can argue that he's been the better player so far. That's why Wentz is the floor for negotiations.
Wentz was drafted to a team that was coming off a 7-9 season. Dak came into t team that was possibly the most talented team in the league with the best Oline and a top RB. Comparing those numbers is like comparing apples to ornages IMO. Yea, we went to playoff sin 2 out of the 3 years, but we stunk in year 2, and we were stinking last year, and dak was really stinking last year when cooper arrived. Look, we can go back and forth all day.... all Im saying is I want to see Dak do something THIS year. Lead us to the playoffs and a depp playoff run this year, and Ill concede he is worth paying. Thats why I personally would not give him a new deal until this season is well uner way so we can see how he is doing.

Nothing to see here -- just business as usual. What's happening here is a commonplace series of tactics in any negotiation process. The team bids low and the agent bids high. It's just a matter of time before both sides compromise and come to a common ground to agree on a contract.

The Cowboys want Dak and Dak wants them. Do not be surprised if both sides prefer to sit back and see what transpires in the preseason games before committing themselves to a workable solution. I've seen this type of scenario play out many times in other business negotiations. It's far from something to be worried about, especially at this early stage of the negotiating process. There's no pressure on either side right now. They're content to wait. ;)

Didnt the Chiefs lose in OT? Mahomes and Dak are not even close to the same player. As a rookie Mahomes was simply unreal. Thats gonna be the guy that clearly will go over 40 million per year , if someone else doesnt beat him to it. BTW, when should Mahomes get a new deal? If he replicates last season performance this year, if I am him, Im sitting out until I get a new deal, I dont care what my contract is as he will have all the power. He sits, chiefs stink, and his people will know it.
Ok. For some reason I thought a playoff QB last year stunk it up. The team did well but the QB play was not what everyone expected. If I was mahomes I would sit out this year. Heck while the NFL teams are passing out deals then I would get mine. I am sure the chiefs would be happy to give him 37-38 right now.

I would not give him a deal this year either. I want to be certain that he's franchise worthy, and I can't say that I am based on the past two seasons.

However, what I believe is irrelevant as far as the numbers go. His numbers stack up quite well against Wentz's, so his negotiating team is not going to go below what Wentz got. If the Joneses can ultimately talk him into taking less, then that should be considered a win for this team.

So if we have a 5-2 or 6-2 record at half way point then pay him.. The team itself will be healthy (barring injury) and playing better so even if Dak plays like he did last part of 2018 then the team is going to be better and he will look better. Other than brady I don’t know of to many players that can strap a team to his back and carry them.

I don’t have a problem waiting till the bye week or next year. But it will cost us more. I just have a problem paying him Wilson money when we haven’t made or won a SB.

Mahomes only played in one game as a rookie

This IMO nails it in a few short words.........pretty simple to me. It's not about Dak but ANY QB a team decides is their franchise guy.

If Dak’s side wants to be paid on results, they can easily and rightfully ask to be paid as much or more than Wentz. The problem is, if both were available, Wentz would probably be chosen over Dak. Daks upside as a passer isn’t as high as Wentz 2017 season. Wasn’t Wentz allowed to change plays at los starting his rookie year? How is his reading progressions vs Dak?

I sure hope Prescott doesn't go the way of Romo after he got his second contract and let his butt get big. Dak could end up like Jamarcus Russell after a 30M deal.

He is wanting SB QB caliber money. No. Maybe next year when the market value is 34. Lol.

He is going to be better this year than last because the team around him is going to be better. Let him play out his rookie deal.
Dumb. The organization has seen him for 3 full years. NFL Rookie of the Year, took the team to 2 playoffs and won one of them. They ain’t as dumb as some posters are.

The Cowboys dropped the ball by not signing Dak earlier. That mistake is going to cost the team quite a bit of money.

Wentz arguably has not accomplished more than Dak has at this point and is a peer having been drafted the same year. Wilson set the bar because he's more accomplished than Prescott. Wentz set the floor because he's not.

I don't think at this point, though, that Prescott's side can successfully argue that he deserves to be paid more than the floor.
He certainly deserves more than Wentz. He’s outplayed him by a wide margin. Philly was dumb to pay him that much. 99% of players that have come back from the multiple torn ligaments Wentz had were never the same. Peterson was one of the few exceptions but even that was only for 1 year.

Did you even watch year 2 when they had the suspensions and injuries? Obviously not.

It’s shocking that you have to spell it out for some of these jokesters.

Well within the last couple of weeks, we've gone from $22~25m up to accepting $30~32m as a fanbase.
Fan base can kiss an ***. It’ll get done like it or not. The kid has shown what it takes to win games. Sorry he doesn’t look, act, like Romo, Brady, Brees, Wilson.

The kid has given his all and continues to deliver. Dude will get paid and some fans won’t like it. Oh well!

So I am dumb because I don’t think he deserves to make as much as SB winning QB in his first extension.. ok then pay him what brady is making. I am sure he won’t take that.

I don’t mind paying him but some of it’s getting crazy.
