Why pay Dak 30 mil a year when Showers has the same skill set. We can have Showers as our starter for about 8 mil a year, easy.

Showers would be perfect for the XFL. I hope he gives the XFL a chance. He has no chance in the NFL. I'd like to watch Showers play the guy is making a living working on the PS. Good for him.

Just who are these "many" that thought Showers was a threat to anyone's job? Remember this is the same Showers that was told he had no shot at being a QB and tried safety.

I see no reason they can’t hire him to work as an assistant coach or on the training staff.

The organization obviously loves him. The Jones’ are loyal and seemingly really high quality employers. I’m sure they will find a job for him with the organization.

So Showers will be just fine.

Agreed on that. But he looked great in 2017. The problem is preseason is so limited, both in terms of time and competition, that it’s hard to feel truly confident about the showing in either year. He does have limited arm strength though, so that’s at least something of a concern.

He was on the squad for 3 years. On the active roster or practice squad. More than the average Joe. No telling with his next step would be, probably something in sports.

I wouldn't completely rule out a roster spot, he looked good in preseason games last year before he got hurt. Another year of the film room and weight room, then an injury to one of the backups, and he could be on the roster. He is clearly a smart kid, it would be a feel good story if he is on the roster at some point.

Well said. He lost out to Johnny manziel at a&m. Never had a prayer as a qb.

They should just cut ties with him now, and make him the new K coach, and use his roster spot for a K to compete with Maher. :muttley:

Is there any NFL rule that prohibits Coaches wearing pads and practicing with the Players?
I the olden days, Teams used to use IR to stash Players They had no room for on the Roster.
Maybe We can use a Coaching position to do the same.
