Dak has never had a terrible season. He’s been to the Pro Bowl twice, was NFL Rookie of the year, took the Cowboys to the playoffs 2 out of his 3 years and has a 32-16 record as QB. The only QB with a better team record the last 3 years is Brady.

And if he does it for another season, he's gonna get paid.

Not necessarily. Wentz was a Top 3 overall pick, so the Eagles had his rookie contract in place through the end of 2020. The Eagles didn't need to extend Wentz right now, much less pay him $32 mil/season after knowing Wentz is injury-prone and has yet to play in a playoff game.
Everyone assumed he was getting paid this year. It was public knowledge that they were negotiating. People saying the Cowboys should have gotten Dak done first aren't living in the same reality as the rest of us.

Michael Irvin loves everyone on the Cowboys and wants them all to get paid. I love Michael but he is a self admitted homer. I don't really care about his analysis.

He hates everyone and everything associated with the Cowboys. If you look up Cowboy Hater in the encyclopedia you’ll see his picture.

The Eagles didn't need to extend Wentz this year. They could have waited until next year. On the contrary, everyone knows Dak needs to get signed this year since he becomes an unrestricted free agent by year's end if the Cowboys don't extend or tag him. Show me any other team in recent years that doesn't extend their franchise QB during his last contractual season? Show me any franchise QB getting tagged instead? Just plain ignorant not to extend your franchise QB before his last current contractual season has started, much less played or finished, plus super expensive and downright disrespectful to the franchise QB. If it went down like this and if I was Dak's agent, I would strongly advice him to sit out in order to prevent Dak from getting injured during his last contractual season since it would cost him over a $100K in future contract money if he did get injured.

Ok, let's make a bet @PAPPYDOG. If Dak gets resigned/extended before Game 1 in early September, you have to exclude yourself from these forums for the rest of September. If Dak doesn't get resigned/extended by Game 1 in early September, I will stay away from these forums for the rest of September.

Deal???

By the way @PAPPYDOG...

Michael Irvin seems to be looking at the signing of Dak as a sign of loyalty to the rest of the team. Putting the impressions of the rest of the roster first and foremost is anything but the smartest way to handle the negotiating process. Both sides (meaning Dak, his agent and the Cowboys' FO) are both devoted to arriving at a salary level that they can both live with for years to come.

The players and their opinions will most likely be stroked sufficiently if and when the best interests of both Dak and the organization are served reasonably well and to the satisfaction of all concerned. If they were at that point, it's a good bet that a likeable contract would have already been agreed upon. I'm reasonably confident that a mutually satisfactory deal will be accomplished when the time is right.

Question:
When was the last time a former player DIDN'T say to pay the current player in question?
