His comments about the offense implies he was at least willing if not wanting to do more. Considering what we have seen over the years along with the comments that Moore is open and receptive to players input to me paints a clear picture. That being that the coaches and organization as a whole were satisfied with the status quo. That obviously led to the stagnation many have been complaining about for years.

:hammer:

And nobody 'knew better' than Linehan, and by extension, Garrett.

The most amazing thing to me is that even more players haven't publicly called out the coaches that have held them back and been a hindrance for years. Credit to those guys for saying the right thing publicly and somehow managing to keep their frustrations bottled up inside.

Can't believe I misspelled hear. I know this doesn't deserve a post of its own, but I've got too correct that, and it's two late to go back and edit it.

Yes, I purposely misspelled too and two just for the fun of it.
Too, to, two? Tutu?

I think the design of this offense does have its problems that should be corrected. However, ex players are way better off just keeping their mouths shut. It can, and often does, come across as sour grapes, regardless of what the player actually meant. When in doubt, keep silent.

Yeah.

The scheme has been trash and only produces because of the talent it has so people who don't know a lot about football can defend it because they see some decent results.

The Rams proved you can be dynamic and also simple if you prefer to be simple.

As long as the defense doesn't know for sure what is coming and when the ball will be snapped should be the goal but the arrogant Dallas Cowboys just don't care.
Don’t remember seeing anyone defend Linehan’s system.

I disagree.

I view it just the opposite.

For me, it's refreshing to get some truth from a player no longer beholden to the Cowboys for a paycheck. I'm sick of hearing 'the company line' from everyone that still works here. You listen to them and then wonder how after the season we inexplicably once again failed to win the Super Bowl?

People take things too personally. Dez & Beas have a right to criticize the offense. Most of us have been criticizing it for years. The truth shouldn't be scorned even if it isn't what you want to hear.

It's been pretty well documented that coaches have been very dismissive of any suggestions from players during the Garrett regime.

I wish them well.

If the cowboys succeed it will likely be because they change, which will validate their opinion.

Precisely.

We all criticized the offense under Linehan, heard about the predictability from opposing teams, et cetera. But now that two former Cowboys have said everyone wants to get all defensive and protective. It’s weird.

This is from a grown man who needed a babysitter to get him to practice and games on time. Just saying.

wonder if when Dez is healthy if he wants to come back to Dallas or if he will play elsewhere, and if another team will take the chance with him..

Damn shame their weren't any coaches capable of teaching Dez more routes. Zeke hasn't been here the entire time this has been a problem.
They tried and he didn’t have the mental capacity to understand and learn. That’s why he was cut.

Want to see Garrett before he was Garrett? Watch the movie "The Candidate" with Redford and wait for the very end, the last thing he says and that's Garrett in a nutshell. If you are not familiar with it, Redford is this perfect candidate, looks the part and can say what people want to hear and ends up being elected and the last words of the film are from him "what do I do now"? The object was to get the job, not keep it.

He got special consideration because of his Dad and then Aikman predicts he'll be a NFL HC then Booger hires him with no job title, just wanted him in the fold. Garrett has been hiding in plain sight since he got into coaching, he's just not a great coach and doesn't have the necessary understanding of the game and how it progresses and what changes need to take place, if the strategy isn't working. However, he isn't alone in that or there wouldn't be 6-9 coaches fired very season. That job is a very tough one and evidently not many are cut out for it.

He is the HC of the DC for other reasons than winning football games or titles. More than any coaching candidate, except a few that have worked closely with Booger, he knows what Booger needs. He knows how to make him feel comfortable and not throw any shadow on him. And most of all, he's willing to subrogate his ego to a larger and more needy one. I am not convinced that Garrett gets fired under any circumstances save a total disaster without convenient excuses.

I guess it's okay for us to criticize the offense but nobody else. We'll see what happens this year but if it is still Garrett's offense chances are it will continue to suck. Hopefully KM will bring something new to the Cowboys. We can only hope.

No one is getting defensive or protective or is butt-hurt. It's simply a topic of conversation and really not uncommon to call it out as whining about your ex.

Some people can't handle any criticism of 'their Cowboys', no matter where it comes from or how valid it is.

So instinctively they shoot the messenger and try to undermine their credibility.

Would you? He's a jump ball WR, needing good strong ankles to go up and he's coming off an Achilles and has shown the tendency to fall off a lot with any injury. And I am not sold he can handle being relegated to a lesser role on any team. Not many former WR1's can do that.

Calling it whining about your ex allows you to disregard it as nonsense. It's like a child throwing a tantrum by sticking fingers in their ears yelling LALALALALALAL!!!!!;;; Because they don't like what someone is saying.
