I read thread after thread about this AAV of 30something mil. Those that gripe about the AAV really have no idea how this team runs. And there are quite a few on here. In 2007 Romo signed a 6 yr 67.5mil deal and in 2013 he signed a 108mil deal. He never had a caphit of 10mil. Dak will never have a caphit of 34mil in any yr. They will do what they did with Romo and restructure and extend. He will not lose money but ensure he is a lifelong Cowboy. This will be structured like this because he's still so young and make so much more money then other QBs and still never strap the Cowboys cap like Romo never did.

This team is smarter then you, so let them do their jobs.

I have to respectfully disagree with you. I have read on here many times that if the FO would just do what the posters say (signed this FA, draft this guy, players sign this contract) then we would have multiple SBs. It is obvious the FO is not reading this board. Imagine if they did. Jones would have to build another building just for all those trophies.

I would trust several members on this forum to put together a super bowl team over Jerry. Especially me.

The team has had a Superbowl roster a few times, coaching has doomed this team. So unless those members.... Including you.... can get the right coach then no you can't.

By the way Jerry already has 3 Superbowl championships so unless you or those several members can beat that, than y'all would be working in a front office somewhere.

The other thing that people need to let go of is the amount he is going to get. It is what the going rate for the QB position. It is not tied to how good he is or how could he can be, it is just market value. If you think that he would take less, you are fooling yourself. After Cam Newton got his contract, I stopped caring about how much the QB gets per year because it's really not tied to how good they are.

I wrote a thread about this maybe a month ago.

The total number and "$ per year" is the worst way to evaluate an NFL contract, but it's also the easiest for casual fans and lazy "analysts", so I get it.

People act like Jerry is going to pass around a donation bucket to collect player salaries directly from them.

Sound like Dak gets everything him and his agent want. Dak will be a Cowboy for life. Dallas has plenty of cap space to pay everyone. It all sounds so perfect!
Pay the man! If 34 mil makes people happy why not give him 40 mil a year. Who cares that he is not even a top 10 QB because an NFL QB is sooo hard to find they need to pay him before he can test the FA market.

The Romo contract didn't hurt the Cowboys until it did. There were a couple of dead money years where the expectation was Romo would play until age 40. Finding Dak in the fourth round helped offset that, though.
