Many here are concerned about overpaying for Dak.
Many are weary about paying him Top money because they have doubts of his potential to be a Super Bowl winning QB.
While Dak's ceiling is in question/debatable, I think one thing we do know is what his Floor is.
Does anyone really think that he will regress from where he is now?
With his Floor being established as what we've seen up to this point, he deserves to be paid the market rate ($30-32 Million per year avg) for Top 10 QB's.
There is the Garpalo/Carr/Cousins range ($25-28 Million) and then the Ryan,Wentz, Rodgers, Wilson ($30-34 Million).
Dak may not be deserving of the Top 5 QB range but he has clearly demonstrated that he is above the upper Top 10 Range.
He has outperformed the $25-28 level QB's. He has demonstrated his ability to win and with the talent around him improving, he looks to have a chance to excel even more.
Therefore, anything less than $32 million a year seems unlikely.
I think it depends on the talent around him. If we can keep this OL in tact, pay Elliott and Cooper or at least have that same talent level then Dak should be ok.

If we lose any of those pieces as we’ve seen then Daks worth to us is lessened.

All QB’s need a supporting cast. It’s what you accomplish with it when you have it that separates the great ones. If we over pay for his talent level then we’ll be more dependent on him to elevate lesser talent around him and where I get concerned.

The time to win with Daks talent level and skill sets with this supporting cast is NOW before we are forced to make tougher choices upcoming with supporting cast.

Floor is Ryan Leaf, ceiling is Tom Brady

How is his floor Ryan Leaf when he's already better Ryan Leaf lol.
I get you it AC, you Dak lovers can't help yourselves, don't agree names, insults, get out of here. Like your other sad sack buddy "Rockyport" you just can't control your urges you have for Dak. Another sad Dak post just about daily that says the same old thing, yes that's real fandom, I'll try harder to humor the mentally challenged like you and your buddy.

When are awe going to retire the "Dak haters" and "Dak lovers" labels? Aren't we all Dak lovers or no?

Once you're above a bare minimum of physical ability, then everything else for a QB is mental. And there's kind of no way to tell how far a guy will progress mentally, or how fast they'll progress, unless they're just gratuitously stupid.

Joe Montana and Tom Brady were both bottom half of the league in terms of raw physical ability, and their ceiling ended up being "all-time greats." Some guys get up to speed mentally super fast, and some take several seasons to flip the switch so to speak.

 Excellent post! Sadly many fans can't see this ......more times than not, intangibles are keys to NFL greatness.

His bas relief and crown molding are cause for concern. Is his purlin strong enough?

All the guys that don't like Dak at 30 million, didn't like him at 500k. Waste of time talking about it.

I’ve watched him since high school. I don’t see him getting any better. He is what he is.
So he went to high school, and then started at MSU, helping them to a top 10 ranking. Got better. Then he went from college and got drafted by the Cowboys and has been to two playoffs 2 out of 3 years. Not one losing season. Got better. Now he’s staring a new contract in the face with the same team with stats to back it up. Got better.

Yeah, you’re argument is weak. Back to sleep.

Dak was a top ten qb with Cooper and predictable play calling. While I still prefer the Cowboys waiting until the end of the season I'm getting more comfortable with the idea of just extending Dak now.

he is above the upper top 10 range? what does that mean!?

and we have seen Dak's floor in 2017 when Zeke didn't play. when OL struggled. Dak was bottom of the league type QB.

Dak is a direct product of his teammates...he doesn't seem to lift them and elevate them...its mostly the other way around.....we have all heard excuses for the lack of WR, we get a top 5 talent. we have seen how everyone just turned against OL because of Dak!!!. we have seen his lack of performance when Zeke didn't play or played great..... no one has benefited more by being surrounded by great talent like Dak. the question is if we put grapolo/carr or cousins with the same talent in the same situation what can they do? we have seen Grapolo lift SF with a bottom of the league type talent. we saw what he did two years ago, when he was traded. he LIFTED his team and his teammates....as for Dak he needs to be lifted...

the concern is not about 30mill per year...give him 40...give him 50. who cares...but he needs to be surrounded with high level talent, as we have seen to date. will giving him that much, handicap us in any way not to be able to sign cooper....and if we can't will we hear excuses that he doesn't have a top WR. if we can't resign Martin or Fredrick in a couple of years...will we hear, he doesn't have a top OL to protect him. if we don't sign Zeke, will we hear that we need to give him a strong back so he can do whatever...…

Dak is short, so he doesn't need a high ceiling.
