Wouldnt be professional for me to say. NFL GM, Executive of the year. Has been to Superbowl. I dont tell you this to make it a guessing game, more just telling you so you know what he says carries some weight.

I believe that GM has some pregnant ideas surrounding the Cowboys and their chances, although their tough schedule will make it quite difficult for a SB appearance to actually come to fruition. He certainly seems to have a good concept of what the team and Garrett's nature is, though. I'm inclined to say he's right. Of course, the X factor might easily rest in the fortunes of Kellen Moore, as well. In any event, it should all prove to be intriguing.

You don't necessarily need an elite HC to win a Superbowl. And I've never said I thought Garrett was 'elite.' I said he's good enough to win a championship with and he works well with our owner, who is difficult to work effectively with.

Coaching hasn't been what's gotten Garrett's teams beat. For the most part, he hasn't had championship caliber teams When he has, we've lost close games to comparable teams for reasons mostly unrelated to coaching. We just like to pretend after the fact that the rosters were better than they actually were and that all of the play calls that don't work would have worked better if we'd called something else.

There is absolutely no evidence that Garret is capable of winning a "championship". He's been at this for quite awhile now and is able to survive his lack of success only b/c he's so good at managing his relationship with Jerry. Backslapping and kissing tail is his primary skill set.

He's right, are we going to show up for games ready to play or are we going to trip over our feet until we're far enough behind? Coaching.

LOL...Believe me, I dont rub elbo's with GM's or anyone else for that matter on the regular. Im just a sales rep, nothing more. I live in an area that has a lot of tourism in summertime. Lots of people buy second homes here that they use as vacation homes. Sometimes they are well known people, most of the time just folks nobody ever heard of that have a little cash. In sales you have to be likable, a people person, cant just focus on the sale only or you wont be successful. You talk business... you talk life....you talk business...you talk life. Thats how its done. When I made my post I said right from the beginning it was nothing Earth shaking. It just confirmed everything that I have believed for a long time myself. I just found it interesting that a Former GM held those same views and thought others would be interested is all.

Except he hasn’t had a lack of success. He’s won more games over the last few seasons than coaches not named “Belichick”. He’s gotten into the playoffs with two different QBs, including with a rookie. He’s won the East three of the last five years. He’s won an NFL Coach of the Year award. There’s evidence. You just don’t want to see it.

Simply pointing this out makes you a Garrett apologist, according to many. That said, I’m intrigued by the possibilities. What could a genius HC do with this roster?

GM isn't the problem. It was Linehan & his predictable offense & was our run defense getting shredded vs the Rams. The GM changed coordinator, & upgraded our rDT/DE's via free agency & draft.

I just have to say this...Linehan was muzzled and had to run Garrett's boring offense or else. The OC on the Cowboys still defers to the
HC and Jerry. He was different in Detroit if you care to look.

We didn’t draft or develop players like we do now before Garrett came along. McClay, Jerry and Stephen were all in the building under Wade. Something to keep in mind, as well.

I’m all for an upgrade at coach if there’s one available. I’ve said so many times. Sure, I don’t think there are as many obvious upgrades out there as many seem to think, but there are good coaches with more skins on the wall who come available from time to time. I’d have concerns about some of them being able to work for Jerry, but not all of them.

And it took Tom Landry how many years to win a SB?
It took 7 to get a winning record unless you count the 7-7 season in his 6th year as a non losing season.

I am not a Garrett fan, but I see see both sides as to why some like him and some don't. But the last half of the season going 7-1 he made some good decisions, and didn't have any stupid moments as in the past.

So his past gaffes, it is not like that HC in Seattle had the best RB having a good game and decides to pass from the 1 yard line to lose the SB.
Man where are the people calling for his head. And I don't care that he won in the past, as that is no excuse.

Landry has an expansion team to deal with. Please don’t compare the 2. Garrett has benefited from good QB play throughput his tenure. 2 playoff wins in 9 plus years. Not close to good enough.

Not even close. Romo was a good QB. Garrett is not close to being a good coach.

I'm a well-established critic of Jason Garrett, and even I would consider him a "good coach". But the problem is that in order to win a Super Bowl, you need better than "good", you need great. If not steadily great, momentarily great. I think Garrett's biggest problem is that he lacks innovation and creativity and he fears change. He's as big a fan of "slow and steady" as I've ever seen. As steady and predictable as can be, a trait that is well appreciated in some areas - like organizational stability - but a negative when it stifles innovation and creativity and leads to predictability. In the NFL, predictability is a huge disadvantage, and often the death knell of any coach. Just ask Linehan.
