Remember, best playoff chances start with winning the division....

Dak Prescott pretty much owns the NFC East

You might surprised how successful Dak Prescott has been against the NFC East.

Dak Prescott has won five of the six games he has played against the Washington Commanders. The only loss came in last year’s game in Washington which the Cowboys lost by three points. With three seconds remaining in the game, the Cowboys lined up to attempt a potential 47-yard game-tying kick, but long snapper L.P. LaDouceur was inexplicably flagged for a false start. The five-yard penalty made it a 52-yard attempt, resulting in kicker Brett Maher hitting the left upright as time expired

So the Cowboys pretty much own the NFC East.

To emphasize this point, BTB points out that Dallas was 14-5 in the East the previous three seasons with Romo at QB (followed by 13-5 the past three seasons with Dak as QB).

Dak doesn't own the East. Romo didn't own the East. The Cowboys did, which probably is more of a testament to how bad the division has been overall than how great Dallas has been.

I'm still not happy with the league about that one. Such a lame call. Whoever called it should have been suspended.

“When you play the Cowboys, and you talk to defensive coaches, they want the game on Dak’s shoulders. They want to stop the run game and make him throw on 3rd-and-longs.”

It's true, but it's also been said for going on 3 years. These reporters get on there acting like they have a hot scoop on the opponent's game plan, but we're all sitting here saying "yeah, no ****."

When the Eagles were winning the division, playoff games, and going to NFCCGs with Andy Reid and McNabb, resident Cowboy fans on phily.com were telling Eagles fans that Cowboys fans would never settle for division titles and NFCCG appearances. They know only winning SBs. We were told to step aside and let the Cowboys show us how it's done.

And here we are.

So what's Zeke's record against the NFC East (I know he sat out the Giants game last year and the finale in 2016 against the Eagles)? Oh wait...what's DLaw's record against the division?

The narrative of QB's won/loss records is so corny. Smh...

All you can do is play your schedule, Tom Brady isn't giving back any victories in a weak AFC East.;)
Oh no Tangle_Foot just compared Dak to Brady:confused:
Small craft advisoryo_O this boat is about to start rocking:eek:

I don't think you'll find too many Cowboys fans here satisfied with winning the division, playoff games or even the NFC championship game. We do have higher standards.

I haven't seen much crowing that we won a playoff game last year. Usually, the purpose of threads like this one are to buoy support for a player, such as Prescott in most cases, rather than to make it seem like it's some crowning achievement for the team.

You make a pretty good point, gimmesix.

Do you think the divide for/against Dak is age related?

I often wondered if it was age related on the divide for/against AR and McNabb. Eagles were pretty much a losing franchise with some scattered seasons feeling like they had a chance for a winning record. So maybe older fans were less inclined to be critical of AR and McNabb. It would be the opposite for Cowboys fans. Older fans know of winning and competing pretty much on a yearly basis. Where younger fans didn't get much of a taste of that. And maybe younger fans feel like now they have a chance year to year even if the season doesn't end in a SB win.

NFC east had 31 wins last year, 32 is average.
32 wins in 2017
39 wins in 2016

So in Dak's time the NFCE has been far from poor, it's actually been one of the stronger ones.

2014- 32 wins
2013- 28 wins
2012- 31 wins
2011- 30 wins

While during Romo's time the division was very bad, only hitting average one time between 2011-2014 and never exceeding average.

What team doesn’t want to make the opposing offense one dimensional and to get the opposing QB into 3rd and longs? I mean, really.

Thanks for sharing your recollection of what other anonymous posters on the internet might have said that one time on some other board.

I can’t speak for everybody, but I know I always cherish nuggets of wisdom like these.

There is usually a skew based on one or two of the teams being good and the other two being bad. But that doesn't really matter, crediting the QB for "owning" division opponents is a stupid way to look at it. It's about the team. That was my point. Dak doesn't own the East opponents any more than Romo did.

What defense doesn't want any qb throwing on 3rd and long...lol that's football 101. Any d coordinator will tell you they want to stop the run and force 3rd and longs.
