Why The Dak-Amari Connection Has No Ceiling

...Consider what the 25-year-old quarterback and 25-year-old receiver accomplished in the final nine games last season after Cooper’s trade deadline arrival from Oakland: Cooper racked up 53 catches for 725 yards and 6 touchdowns in route to his third Pro Bowl appearance in four NFL seasons.

Prescott made the Pro Bowl, too, after he and the Cowboys’ offense ranked third in completion percentage (71.0), third in yards after catch (1,312) and first in third down conversion rate (48.4) after the Cooper trade.

Most importantly, the Cowboys won seven of their last eight to erase a 3-5 start, clinch the NFC East and reach the NFC divisional playoff round.

All that without the precious offseason reps that comprise a successful passing game partnership. After coming over from Oakland, Cooper was familiar with certain concepts in the Cowboys’ offense but not Prescott’s preferences and tendencies...

Dak having a full offseason to get on the same page with Cooper, Cobb and second-year receiver Michael Gallup has the makings of being a great read. I'm very excited about the possibilities of the 2019 season, it has a chance to be a great story.

If the commish will leave our star RB alone, our offensive attack in 2019 should be 2nd to none. The way teams study offenses through technology these days, Kellen Moore needs to be careful his offense doesn't get "figured out" too soon without the wrinkles he wants to add not being worked out with the players. It's great to add plays from the same formation but it takes practice and time to eliminate the "tell tell" signs that defenses look for when variations are added to a formation. The repetition between Dak and Amari will be critical this training camp. They didn't get a training camp together last season so this advantage in 2019 is exciting to think about.

I recall hearing/reading around the time our offensive line was being touted as the Best in the League , and I'm thinking it was the #72 Fredrick who was saying they were putting in extra work together/ everybody all on the same page, so as not to telegraph their upcoming play to the oppositions D(it was back when we had that one O.L. dude with the degenerative knee condition who'd retired or signed with Denver, 4-5 years back, ya, that one dude
( according to several forum posters around here ,he was just a jag & wasn't any good to begin with anyway) who'd left that noticeable gaping void in the O.L. with his departure,,, it's apparent to most , that the #4&#19 jelled up pretty quick,,,and their only gonna get better the longer there together:thumbup:

Don't forget Witten will be back in the mix!

And all of the young TEs will have a more experience under their belts.

It's on this year!

No slow start, slump to pull ourselves out of; I think we dominate the NFCE from the jump.

They might as well give Dak the MVP right now........book it!!!

I honestly think he's just one piece of the puzzle.

But I also don't underestimate his ability and worth.

Starting NFL quarterbacks do not grow on trees.

Every QB is just one part of the puzzle. It has been and always be a team game no matter the greatness of anyone player on any team.

Connection should be even better this year. But defenses will also play him differently this year.

Quite possibly the only time in Cowboys history that a big trade for a WR has paid off. Amari has succeeded where Joey Galloway and Roy Williams failed.

Lance Rentel paid off in the 60's … well, until he had his problems. It wasn't considered a big a trade at the time though because Rentzel hadn't yet had a good year before he came to the Cowboys

Terry Glenn paid off, but that probably doesn't qualify as a "big trade" either since the Cowboys didn't have to give up much for him (a 6th rounder). Apparently GB thought he was on a downhill slop. This is a rare example of the Cowboys getting a steal in a trade in the Jerry without Jimmy era. Of course, Parcells had a history with Glenn.
