Lets say the Cowboys make the NFC championship game or SB or win SB after that JG is a free agent. I kinda wonder if maybe he says enough of this bs with Jerry and Stephen I want my own team and takes a deal with another team. I could see Washington being open next year wonder how my Snyder would pay to steal Jerry’s boy. Just something I thought about Jerry might want to keep JG but JG might see greener pasture.

Unless Jerry says 500 back QBs could coach this team I don't see why Garrett would want to leave .

With insane happiness?

Legitimately though, if Garrett even gets to a Super Bowl, Jones signs him to a lifetime contract during the bye week before the game.

ha...im in the camp that likes garret but I get why there are some on here that want him gone....honeslty I would love to have the deliema your scenario outlines!

Hey Jipp. I think most would be ok with letting Garrett go but some would say, "are ya nuts"? Not sure what side I would be on. I am not a Garrett hater so you know which side of the fence I am on.

I don't see how making it to the SB eliminates Garret's past and turns him into a highly sought after coach. Not a lot of history of success where you could say, yeah, he finally made it over the top.

Only a few HCs have had more success than JG over the last few years. And that is with extreme situations each of the last 3 years.

If we make the championship game or win the SB then JG either gets extended or another year. Or we get a new HC and JJ pays him and moves him to the FO job he was speaking of..

I have wondered about Garrett's desire to stay the HC under any conditions. This is a guy that doesn't mea culpa and what happened with the Linehan situation had to leave him feeling burned. I've never seen anything like that happen and every HC in the league had to be cringing. Not only do his bosses not back him, they make him issue an almost immediate retraction and he doesn't even do a good job of that. Then he gets an inexperienced OC in his contract year.

That said, Garrett's wife is besties with Booger's daughter and he's like family so I still have a hard time thinking he will not be extended under any circumstances but to make the NFCCG or SB and he's golden with Booger. And he should be golden with the fans and even posters here. Of course, if he were to lose the SB then he's dead meat.

I do think Garrett's future is the first GM, besides Booger, while Son takes over the Pres role. I've felt that was his future all along and why he was brought in originally. But I think Booger would prefer he not fail up the ladder but he will do what he wants to do regardless of any criticism. And I would think anything that takes him out of the HC seat would be just fine with the ones that don't want him as HC.

We really can only guess at his relationship with the family but it is fact about his wife and Booger's daughter. How does a man all about family pull the trigger on that?

Exactly. The league knows all it needs to about Jason Garrett.

Jason appears to me to be 100% comfortable in his skin. He isnt worried about Jerry talking to the press and stealing "His," thunder. JG has basically been around the Cowboys most of his adult life. You think he would actually leave the team, if given an extension offer from the team? I dont see it. I am to lazy to look, but is JG married with kids? In any event, we speculate about things we really have NO clue about. I will speculate.

I think JG loves coaching THIS team. If he makes a SB, he is getting an extension for usre. If he makes the NFC title game, I think he gets an extension. Think about this. In 2014 we were a SB contender.. This is a completely different team from then, and we didnt have to drop to the bottom to make that change. Does JG get any credit? .... nah, I know he doesnt. He sucks.....

So take away everybody's hero , Belicheck, and start listing the amazing coaches that would put us in a SB????

MOst of the guys on your list have probably won A SB, not multiple.

Ill take a premtive strike on possible candidates you may bring up.

Tomlin.... Barry Switzer? won aSB with Cowher's team. Hasnt done jack since and had possibly the top WR and RB in their prime on the same team with a HOF QB, and he has won(who couldnt have won at the same pace as Tomlin with those teams) and could basically said to have underacheived, big time. BUt he looks tough.

Carrol...... He came in, hit the jackpot with a young QB, had a GREAT defense and won a SB, could have won 2. He definitely benefitted from that QB not being a ME guy. He got the full benefit of a QB in his first contract. Once they had to pay the qb real money, they just dropped off the face of the earth as far as being a legit SB team. Seahawks are now just like everyone else. So do you see that team with the great Carrol winning another SB anytime soon???????????

Andy Reid Had a HOF qb in philly and a super talented team........ 0 super bowls. Now in KC, he hit the absolute jackpot (was it his doing to get mahomes? or someone else... i seriously dont know) So, having a qb that had one of the greatest individual seasons in the history of the nfl, they still didnt make the SB. Andy Reid, in all his greatness and his many years as a head coach, still has the same number of SB wins as JG.

SEan Payton Has basically had a HOF QB during his entire run. Has a SB win, and then his team dropped off the planet and was not even a top 10 team. They are back in the mix now.... but again, with that GREAT qb, he has 1 sb win. Does that make you GREAT? Cant wait to see the Saints after the great Drew Brees hangs them up.

Mike McCarthy... please..... had 2 of the greatest QBs to play the game his ENTIRE coaching career in GB, and once again, he has ONE SB. Having the QBs he has had alone means his team would be in the upper echelon of the league. What did he do to take them from upper echelon to great? nothing. 1 SB.... does that make him great?

So lets replace JG for what? the sake of replacing him? How many teams replace coaches EVERY YEAR. What 25% of the coaches get fired each season, and teams stay right where they were until the normal progression of things takes place. Until teams get a LEGIT QB, they will just stay mediocre. Typically, a new coach gets the new qb, and then all of the sudden when the QB takes off, that new coach gets to ride the wave....... look at my list, and all of those coaches are examples of riding the wave.

Take any of those coaches on the above list in place them in Miami... you telling me the Dolphins are in the SB?

One could say in most cases Garrett wouldn't have a job long enough for any success. Three straight 8-8 seasons is not impressive. IMO he should have never had a 2014.
