It would be easy to say Dak, Zeke or Amari on offense, or D-Law, Jaylon or LVE on defense but, IMO, it’s Travis Frederick C.

His presence on the field does more to improve the O-line as a UNIT, and therefore the entire offense, than any other player. He calls all the blocking and all the blocking audibles, makes few mistakes and is rarely penalized.

Looking forward to having him back.

good question. depends on each person's definition of underrated.

Based on 2018, I would say Byron. He put together a pretty spectacular season yet there are those who still bash him pretty good. I think his "production" versus "perception" has the widest gap of anyone on the team.

Going into 2018, it would have probably been Joe Looney by a landslide. Most thought the season was lost without Travis and the only option was to go outside the organization to get a replacement. Looney showed he was no comedian on the field.

Dak and its not even close

I think Dak is mostly underrated on here. I dont know anyone willing to crown Dak as a league leading QB but even the non-cowboys fans ive spoke to off the internet typically respect his game. This board is full of angst.

Going into 2019 I think Witten is really underrated. People freak out that he cant sprint downfield but with all of our other weapons why would Witten be going deep or relying on speed? He's one of the greatest ever at finding short-to-midrange soft spots and that doesnt require youthful athleticism. Throw in the positive influence he will probably have on young Jarwin and I think he is a really nice one year pick up.

Wow, very likely no one beats this response.

I was going to say Xavier Woods but this one beats mine.

Based on Cowboys fans that I run into at bars and friends along with the so called experts on Sports Media Dak by far is underrated. Just a month ago teams were saying he doesnt deserve to get paid as much as Kirk Cousins.

I considered Dak, but I can at least understand some fans' hesitation with him. I don't agree, but understand. Many people dream of a Pat Mahomes type, and a guy like Carson Wentz at least shares more of those attributes. It's my opinion that people don't give enough credit to decision-making under duress, where Dak is elite. And as he becomes better and faster at reading defenses he will only improve in that respect. But he's never going to have a top-5 arm in terms of making any throw from any angle and any foot placement.

People want to see a QB that can carry a team - like say, without Zeke - and Dak hasn't shown that yet. But I think he's going to get there, and we may see it start to happen this season. Great QBs rarely peak by age 25, they tend to keep improving and you will see that with Dak.

I was watching Maliek Collins vs Tampa Bay last night (was going to write a thread about how underrated he was, but I don't think it would have been worth any conversation beyond "cool story bro"). In that game, he had 3 tackles, 1 sack, 1 TFL, 1 QB hit, and 3 pressures.

Dude has turned into a bona fide good 3 tech. Yes, health is a major concern, no, he doesn't make much of an impact in the run game, but he brings the pass rush better than most fans realize.

On a scale from 1 to 10, where a 10 is the arguably the best player in the league at their position and 1 is a camp body (Zack Martin is a 10, Chaz Green is a 1), I'd say a healthy Collins is like a 5 or 6 and the public perception of him is about a 3.

Not techically a starter, but I think the punter is under rated.
I seriously considered this answer as well. There have been quite a few games where he was our MVP. If not for him flipping field position, we wouldn't have had a chance.
