"The Cowboys are good but not great and didn't do much to improve this offseason."

lol. I'm guessing the writer didn't do much to improve his non bias observation skills.

Dak seems super focused and everyone has raved about the improvement with his touch on deep passes. And no moe Linehan, which by itself is an improvement. Moore won't be predictable.

DT - added Trysten Hill, Christian Covington, Daniel Wise (has chance making team).
DE - added Robert Quinn, Kerry Hyder, Joe Jackson, Jalen Jelks.
CB - added Michael Jackson (was getting some praise in ota's).
RB - added Tony Pollard, Mike Weber.
WR - added Randall Cobb, Cedric Wilson (out last year, showed promise before injj.), and some ufa rookie wr's coaches also like.
OL - added Conner McGovern, Mitch Hyatt (could make team).
Defensive tackle. Defensive line with rotation. We drafted a special teams running back. Went to the second round of the playoffs with the youngest starting team in the league. The future is bright the confidence was priceless last season

Not sure this good year bad year deal is coming from. Dak has only had winning records since becoming the starter. If you want to say make the playoffs and miss the playoffs, ok but Dallas will be in the conversation for the playoffs as long as Dak is healthy.
I agree that Dallas should for sure be in the playoff discussion this year.

I do think some forget that 2017 was pretty much an 8-8 season. We were 8-7 after week 16 and won at Eventual SB champ Philly while scoring only 6 points when the Eagles rested their starters in week 17.
Im sure Garrett loved the “winning season” on his resume....but uh, not really.

But yes, Ilike our chances to begood this year.
Loaded roster on both sides of the ball finally.

Yeah he's part of the problem. Our inability to really succeed over his 8 years is a combination of poor decisions by the front office (cough, cough Jerry), some flawed rosters and average head coaching.

And LOL at "runner up" in the division aspect of your post. You realize that in those two years as "runner up", they didn't make the playoffs, right? So what value is there in being a "runner up" in a division? Why should we applaud Garrett (or any coach for that matter) for finishing 2nd in a division and not making the playoffs?

8 years. 3 playoffs appearances. 2 playoff wins. Zero conference champ game appearances.

Yeah............ he's freaking killing it.

If they miss the playoffs this year, it will be interesting to see what excuses you come up with in the offseason.

The runner ups are just that whether they made the playoffs or not and won the others, if you going to discount the regular season as you do you might as well discount the playoffs as well. In your world why not just count Superbowl wins.

This is hilarious. You floated/insinuated in your post that "runner up" finishes in the division were somehow a positive.

They aren't when you aren't a WC team. There's no value or accolades to be had by finishing runner up in a division and not making the playoffs. The fact you actually put in your post that we were the divisional winner or runner up in 5 of 8 seasons, shows just how far you have to tilt the scales to try to make Garrett look good.

It's funny how people are so outraged over this prediction.

It's not like this franchise doesn't have a history recently of bouncing year to year as a playoff team and non-playoff team. I mean I might be outraged myself if we were coming off like 5 straight years of playoff appearances but we aren't.

I think they should make the playoffs in 2019 but I am not blind or ignorant of this franchise's recent past either.

It's the entire league that bounces in and out of the playoffs. How many teams go to the Superbowl and don't make the playoffs The Following season. This is been the last six seasons maybe longer. The NFL wanted parody they got it

8.8 I have said for a while, and I'm just now hearing analyst mention it. To be consistently good it's actually a huge achievement in today's NFL. No I don't like being 8/8 but I understand how hard it is to achieve that for so long. teams hit rock bottom after being good for a few seasons. This is not the same old League I grew up with

Teams go to the Superbowl and don't even make the playoffs the next season. I wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles don't make the playoffs this season. There's only one constant in today's NFL the anomaly. So please don't use them for a barometer

Again, were they winners or runner ups? There's 4 teams in the division, being that "NO" team in any division outside of the New England division will win the division every year, being in the positions this team isn't bad for such a "AVERAGE" coach...lol

Simple question. Is finishing 2nd in a division but not making the playoffs a success? A good season?

The six teams most likely to miss the playoffs after making it in 2018-2019

Dallas Cowboys

I was one of those dead-wrong folks who thought the Eagles would win the NFC East last year. So, mark me down as one of the many people who think Philadelphia will reign supreme in their division this year. The Cowboys are good but not great and didn't do much to improve this offseason. They have a mediocre coach at best, and Dallas is stuck with Jason Garrett because he made the playoffs last year. That might cause the Cowboys to miss the playoffs this year.

Our recent history supports this speculation. We followed up a great 2014 with an awful 2015. We followed up a great 2016 with a mediocre 2017. Now, there are reasons for those failures, but who's to say there won't be again.

I don't go into any season with Super Bowl aspirations anymore because this team has failed me when I have had them. It's been much better for my blood pressure to no longer allow myself to be completely disheartened by my team. I still love winning and hate losing, but once upon a time, I would let Dallas losing would absolutely ruin my day.

If they're not losing seasons yeah they're successful. This should be fun. Is making the playoff and losing successful? Is a 9-7 record successful? Seahawks made the playoffs at 7-9.

They really aren't. Especially when you actually look at the two seasons the team finished 2nd under Garrett:

2017 - they finished 9th in the conference
2013 - they finished 9th in the conference

But yeah, those were successful seasons............. finishing 9th in a 16 team conference. LOL.

Yes, the 2010 season was a success for the Seahawks. They were coming off a 4 win and 5 win seasons and beat a favored Saints team in the first round of the playoffs.

Now if they were 12-4, the #1 seed in the NFC and lost their first playoff game at home, it would be hard to call that season a big success.

Interesting. He was wrong last year, so based on being wrong, he’s doubling down.

Ok. Nice logic.
