Idiot was on 10 years probation after his DUI manslaughter trial in 2012.
Does this mean he goes to prison?
Usually a probation violation like that means it happens. Unless, of course, a very influential and wealthy person greases a few palms on his behalf.

At least maybe he wouldnt do out of control stuff that causes others harm. Thats my point. 70% of the NFL players cannot handle the addictive booze and pills so they better stick w the Gonja before the assaults lead to deaths. Playing a violent contact sport with pain and pressure to keep playing puts these athletes at a higher risk to abuse something to cope. Js
Unless there was some sort of drug testing involved with his probation or his job, he was free to substitute weed for alcohol all along. I don't think he was using alcohol to manage pain.

Whats more important is overcoming the addiction to Alcohol. He didnt smoke a blunt and cause all his problems. He overmedicated on alcohol and whatever else which no matter how much you try to control drinking its really easy to overmedicate compared to the harmless non addictive weed lol.

Actions speak louder than words. Outside of failing tests and getting caught w a blunt these guys are pretty clean but the rule abiding drinkers and pill poppers make these weedies look like members of the church choir when they overmedicate

Ive drank and took the pills. Im guilty. It starts out w 1 pill and a few beers and escalates as the addiction increases until your overmedicating and others have to suffer. Alcohol and pills are highly addictive and have terrible side effects and you can easily overmedicate when youre using it to cope. If he had been overmedicating at home nobody would be having this conversation. Lol

Its when they bring the harm to themselves and others into the equation that you cannot overlook the law defying actions behind using the legal and rule abiding substances and the staggering number of instances of overmedicating while the harmless weedies are just chillin. Lmao

All social drinking and pill popping doesnt lead to overmedicating and violence or immoral behavior but its certainly a CATALYST behind 99.99% of it. Lol.

Had Josh brent been just a social drinker and never had an addiction to alcohol id agree w the NFL policy.

Here we go with our self righteous self called perfect fans showing how low they too can be by calling him an idiot.
What he needs is help with his alcohol problem.
Finally a human shows up.
Anyone who watches this and gets angry at him over sad for him needs to evaluate their empathy for fellow man. Have we become this cold and hostile towards ourselves as humans...I really hope this is internet tough guys being internet tough guys and not a true reflection of how people really feel.

I hope Brent gets the help he may need and recovers from this incident.

And the first step should be Jones kicking him off the payroll. He has enabled this imbecile.
Typically a person losing their income has a better chance at driving them into depression and self destructive behaviors than it does curing their mental deficiencies.

Are you interested in Brent recovering and having a productive life or vengeance for the disgust you feel towards him?

Why should he get yet another opportunity? He has been getting off light for being irresponsible all along. Being drunk didn't keep him from calling a cab the night Jerry Brown lost his life. This is just as much about decisions as it is the battle with alcohol. He had a golden parachute with Jones' benevolence that he has completely squandered. He has had treatment and it still has not changed his decision-making. Sorry, I am not going to feel sorry for him.

Honestly, going to prison may be the best thing for him recovering and having a productive life. Being handed second chances clearly does not help him all that much.

I feel sorry for all the Alcohol and pill addicts who have overmedicated and made poor out of control choices because of a simple addiction. Its our responsibility to remain in control and help them remain in control. Unfortunately alcohol is addictive but whats even worse is all the misery associated with it because its easy to overmedicate and lose control.

People dont overmedicate and lose control or cause harm to themselves or others in most cases overwhelmingly using cannabis compared to the rampid out of control alcohol related incedents or pill overdoses.

I think its something the NFL should consider changing soon because there is alot of good talent in the NFL were missing out on as fans because they cant play football and handle the BOOZE AND PILLS WITHOUT OVERMEDICATING. During football and after long after their career is over. If im the NFLCommish im at least changing the rules to make weed a slap on the wrist since it is a contact sport and most athletes who play violent injury prone sports are more prone to using substances to help them cope with their pains. Lets just hope they dont choose alcohol and pills so there is no overmedicating and less immoral behaviors because thats where 99.99% of the problem is with the rules.

These players are college Educated Professionals who play a contact sport. They arent idiots. Most of them know they cant handle the booze and pills so they stay away but the 30%+ that are seem to be overmedicating at times and even getting caught redhanded on video. Thats how addictive and rampid it is becoming. God Bless the poor guy. Life is hard. Alcohol can be the devil

well...good guy or not, we have laws on the books and they had a job to do. The law isn't subjective or optional. See...we live in a world now that's constantly cryin about fairness..lol..like a bunch of babies. Don't like laws? Change them ,go vote..sign petitions. MAYBE those guys in blue could have handled it a bit better, but man alive, they had to make a quick decision in case he was gonna get violent or hurt himself etc. It was for his own safety more than anything. They tried to peacefully handle him and he resisted. END OF STORY. We make choices in life and either we learn from them and get better, or we circle the drain and keep repeating those choices. I hope he can get the help he needs.

Yea nothing help us hiring managers and HR staff hire someone faster than prison sentences.

Have you ever driven while tired? Has anyone you known done this? Drive by any bar in the country and guess what you see.....lines of buses picking up all the patrons? Nah....Parking lots full of vehicles. Guess how the people are getting home? Go to a cowboys game and look at the parking lot. Same story. I am not and will not condone drinking and driving. I also wont pretend I know what its like to feel the responsibility of my actions resulting in a friends death. I still feel awful for the bird that swooped down and ended up in the grill of my car years ago.

No one is condoning Brent drinking. The problem some have with your post is the lack of human empathy it shows. No where in your posts does it come across to a reader as you caring about the well being of another human. Instead it sounds like disgust and vengeance is what you want to see. I may be misreading you and if so I apologize. But this is what it sounds like.

Treatment for a person with a problem like drugs and alcohol is not a one time cure all in most cases. Prison time has not proven to do more good than harm to a person with a disease or addiction or whatever label you prefer to give alcoholism.

Maybe Brent will never get it. Maybe this will be what the rest of his life becomes. Feeling sympathy for other peoples weakness and inability to make better decisions does not make us worse people. It makes us more human and more loving of each other. We have the highest incarceration rate in the world...Higher than North Korea. The prison population has exploded from about 300k to over 3M in less than 30 years. Vengeance has not helped any of us.

Word of the day: Compassion
hmm ok...why? Should they have waited for him to lunge at them or hurt himself maybe? I understand he has issues..and that's sad. Hope he gets help. But why should they...WE have compassion for someone who already has caused a death? At what point does compassion do more harm than good? To heck with compassion..what he needs is treatment and a life coach.
