That is not the reaction of an alcohol intoxication. I hope he gets the help he needs. There is more to this than what is publicly known.

What should the price be for someone who only hurt themselves?
Life works this way isn't really an argument.
You may have more details than I do on this incident. Were their reports of him assaulting anyone or anything mischievous?
I only read he was drunk in public and he didnt respond to the police officers in the best way.

Public intoxication is something that most people have been guilty of. If guilty is even the right word for something like this. Its one of those laws that rank right up there with public urination when you are in the middle of a 10 mile traffic jam, your iced coffee is kicking in, and you decide its either pee yourself, or run over to the trees next to the highway and relieve yourself. A law that has no place on the books. Zeke and Dak could both be charged with public intoxication when they have been seen in the clubs having a good time.
No shirt, no shoes, no service. And I doubt most people have been guilty of public intoxication.

I'm not even sure I would say he got away with it the first time. This accident and death wasnt a bank robbery. No punishment given to me could hurt me more than knowing that I contributed to the death of my friend. That emotional scar could never heal. That is something you carry for the rest of your life.
That’s true too. His punishment is living with the death of a friend. He may never get over it.

If you think public intoxication shouldn't be illegal you have a problem. This guy is a danger when he's drunk to himself and the public. He obviously doesn't care.
agree with what the cops did. They got the guy off the streets and in the holding tank to dry him out. Not sure what SOME on here wanted the police to do. They did what had to be done and lets not forget the guy resisted arrest and was tased. If he was willing to be tased and resist, what else could he have done to himself or someone else? My take is, maybe now someone can help him. I am hoping he gets court ordered help. I don't see him helping himself on his own. When you have a sickness...weakness like he does with Alcohol, it controls YOU...not the other way round.

I thought maybe since he got drunk and had a accident that killed his friend that he would quit drinking, and JJ actually gave him a job...

I don't blame people for giving others a second chance. Some do turn their lives around. It's on Brent for ruining a great opportunity that he was given despite the terrible decision that he made.

If our government allows alcohol to be purchased and consumed in public (and Taxed) then I can't see how we make the results of this legal consumption to be illegal.
Assault, disorderly conduct, ect is and should be illegal. You are assuming being intoxicated in public should be the crime and not the persons actions that may partially result from being intoxicated.
If I am sitting on a park bench happy and drunk then who am I hurting? For something to be a crime then there should be a victim of the crime. Who is the victim? Me? Well i am not pressing charges.

btw. My friend and neighbor is a police officer. He has never arrested someone for public intoxication who wasnt being an A hole and acting like a complete idiot.
So should it really be a crime if its something even the police look away from? Its just a crime they pile on when you are being an out of control ******.

its not up to me or the cops. Its up to the interpretation and law statutes. I really don't know what should be done. Point is, harm of anykind shouldn't be allowed to take place. Its inhumane to let him harm himself..so they did the right thing. Now its up to the courts. Maybe now he can get help. I see this as a positive for him.
If self harm is the crime then excessive consumption of bacon at the breakfast buffet should be looked at as well. Of course i am being a wise guy here. Any alcohol consumption at all, cigarettes, dip, snuff, could be pulled in to the definition as well.

I'd just like to see crimes be actual crimes and incidents of self harm be things that require treatment.

I can't speak for you but I went to a wedding this past weekend at the beach...awesome wedding.....but I watched about 75 successful, good people all become guilty of public intoxication. By the time Piano Man was played their wasnt a sober person left. Good times.

Here we go with our self righteous self called perfect fans showing how low they too can be by calling him an idiot.
What he needs is help with his alcohol problem.

Having an alcohol problem is a personal choice. He chose to drink and drive and kill his best friend. He made a choice to get drunk as **** and cause a scene in public. How about either stop drinking all together, cut back on the amount or just drinking in the confines of your own home?

Yes, he is an idiot. I used to do dumb stuff on alcohol and I changed my life and hardly drink anymore. He can change if he wants. He just likes to drink and doesn't want to. He had a cushy job with the Cowboys. So he's not drinking his sorrows away. He just drinks and does stupid stuff. Nothing more to it.

It's cool that this guy is actually an employee in the scouting department and has been for a few years now. Only the best and brightest for this organization.
