With the CBA ending in 2020, I don't expect Stephen to do anything in free agency that would hamper negotiating leverage with the players union.

And with the PC agenda and science community attacking football at every angle, I don't expect tackle football to be around much longer anyway. These owners want a trap door to bail out of the coming lawsuit nightmare on the horizon.
It may not survive in the fashion you’d prefer but it’s going to take more than what we’ve seen thus far to end this multi billion dollar entity.

The league will continue modifying the rules, etc to meet the criteria .

And I think like most applaud their efforts to at least attemp to make it a less violent game now that the scientific evidence has been established.

If course you need players like Heath but they’re called backups and special team players. No team is going to end up with superstars starting at each position but there’s no rule that says you can’t and so you shouldn’t even try. It’s been a weak spot for much longer than it should be. There’s absolutely no reason to attempt to secure a better player than Heath. He can and should remain on the team, he just shouldn’t remain on the field except for when there’s also a kicker out there.

LLLOOOLLL for that last part and true, this! Always said they are called role players for a reason.

We don't get a penalty for too many men in the Huddle he gets that interception against Green Bay and we possibly go on and win. He's definitely a rotational player and should be on the field beside special teams. He just shouldn't be the starter

You can't win in this league without solid football players. You don't win with just superstars. In fact I'd rather have a football team full of football players you can keep the superstars

might sound crazy but I want Jaylon Smith signed more than Zeke. Please do not let this guy leave.
Attitude, camaraderie Paradigm old school football locker room camaraderie is so important and that's what Jaylon Smith brings class. Never mind on the field intelligence

Look for us to have about 50 million in cap space for 2020 with Zeke, Dak, Cooper, and Lawrence, our entire oline under contract.

0.

How will the entire line be under contract when this is Collins last year under contract?

That could be true BUT JH is not a solid football player.

How many superstars do the Patriots have other than the goat. Again give me a team of football players . over prima donnas. Big difference between the NFL and college but I'm sure you know that

What's interesting is how many fans ( including myself) have been pretty hard on Stephen for refusing to sign quality free agents other than his own drafted players. But when you look at the team, it's built on approx over 90% original draft players. Doesn't take much to figure where almost all our cap money will be spent. Other words, our cap money is to keep our player home coz we've never been a big spender of free agents outside the team. Exactly why I don't get too caught up whether this or that Cowboys player is making too much. Stephen's been doing this for over 25 years and yes he has his faults but fiscal mismanagement isn't one.

When you have the GOAT thats all that needs to be said. Sure do know that having played and my brother playing college and pro.

I know it for the same reason. Give me a team full of football players

That's good but when you have several superstars, as long as there is no jealousy and everyone knows there roles. Take our 90's teams that beat my brother's niners teams some. That team knew who the stars were and everyone else played there role perfectly. So yes it is good to have a whole football team of solid players without stars but I also like the stars too as long as there are no jealousy or the stars think they are above the team.

I sure wish some Cowboys would Brady up and settle for a few million less so that the 'Boys could sign some more talent.

As of today, there is about 75 million in cap space for the 2020 season. This is without Dak, Amari, and Byron Jones under contract.

Dak and Amari are more than likely to get extensions soon and based on what I've been hearing Jones will most likely be headed to free agency.

New contracts will also affect Dak's and Cooper's cap hit ls for this year. Dak's will rise to about 9 (+7million) million and Cooper's will drop to about 8 million (-5million). They basically offset each other.
  • With an extension Dak's cap hit will be at 18-24 million in 2020.
  • Amari 18-20 million cap hit in 2020.
So, about 40 million in cap hits between those two players.

Leaving 35 million in cap space and that is not adding in a rise in the cap (which will be about 8-10 million).

That means we will have about 45 million in cap space available for 2020 with all of our key players locked down.

There is also the possibility of releasing players like Hurns this year, which will free up almost 5 million in cap space or Crawford after this season to clear 8 million in cap space.

Look for us to have about 50 million in cap space for 2020 with Zeke, Dak, Cooper, and Lawrence, our entire oline under contract.

We will have plenty of space to extend Zeke next off season if the front office has him in their long term plans.

There will also be space to extend Jaylon Smith in 2020.

2020 Cap Space 74.5M

Player AAV
Dak 34M
Cooper 18M
Byron Jones 16M
Jalen ??
Total 68M
