we are blessed with some GOOD PROBLEMS AT OLINE. We have an embarrassment of talent and depth. I say, put blinders on and start the best 5,period. Don't care where they were drafted, what they get paid...NUTHIN. Not a knock on Fred Beard, but if Looney and or McGovern beat him out at center and have a better camp, he needs to ride the pine until he can prove he's 100% and back to being Fred Beard. Sufalo(sorry about the spelling), was an awesome signing last year and played very well at left guard...in fact, he helped save the season. I wouldn't be mad if he wowed in camp and preseason and earned the starting Left guard spot. Let the competition begin boys!!!!

Is this a joke? Sua Filo was barely even mediocre...he was not very good IMO.

The problem is, guards need thick butts and legs to be effective against guys like Fletcher Cox. Top heavy strength doesn't really help much at all.

That would be useful at right tackle.

it is hard to tell about his legs from that angle.
since his upper body look much bigger, i would suspect he would have equally hard in his lower body based on coaching input.

I finally located this photo I've been looking for. People were worried that Williams lower body looked too thin. I think this shot should alleviate those concerns.

That picture looks like the opposite of what we have heard.

Lower body looking bigger, upper body not so much.

he was light years better than Williams. Even the game commentators saw this.

Worse pass blocker. Better run blocker.

Williams used good technique to make up some for lacking great strength. He would lose some in pass protection to powerful DTs.

Su'a-Filo has power, which is what stood out in his run blocking, but doesn't use his feet well in pass blocking, allowing him to get thrown off balance. That's one reason he ended up being blamed for more sacks in fewer starts that Williams.

The point is that the Cowboys and everyone else said he needed to bulk up in the offseason. Get stronger. Now he’s done that and you have to crap on it. It’s pathetic on your part.

Sure, that's part of it. But the other part is that it's quite possible they are playing him out of position. I know that's hard for people to understand but yes, this staff, could be making a mistake. Look at Byron Jones. For a few years, this coaching staff tried to force him into the FS role, and he was an average safety. They move him to CB and he was one of the best CBs in football.

I am not one to claim he can't play OG, I think he can. But I do wonder if he'd be better off at RT (and frankly, Collins might be better at LG).

Must have been the angle of the last picture. He looks solid there.
