Yup. I hate FF.
I clearly remember my brother saying "I hope Barry Foster has a great game today."
I said, "But you HATE the Steelers."
Yea, that’s why I’d never play. IMO it’s ruined or at least muddled how fans root for teams and players.

Not coaching.

His job is to build the best team he possibly can.
Bingo!!
Build the team!
You said it...
But in this instance the GM’s best is not good enough and there’s 23 years of evidence to prove it.

If that game against the Rams was any closer, I think Garrett would have got an extension. But since it ended the way it did. It opened Jerry's eyes a bit more and kept them open this time.

It kept them open, that this team may have won from a better prepared team. Rather it was on the OC or the DC or both, or players just not playing well. Or any combination thereof. And that is not taking away a great game plan by the Rams. It revolves around this team.

But it ultimately falls on the HC's head to have the team, players and coaches prepared.

Watching the Patriots stifle that same Rams team a few weeks later didn't help ol' JG, either.

Lol

Noise that disputes your noise. Or you would ignore otherwise. I’m not intimidated by Internet bully’s.

You’ve completely fabricated facts into spinning your narrative which is the very definition of Fake News.

Haha...and here I thought it was the middle of summer but the snowflakes have come early this year.

Yea but the Saints didn’t stuff them either. Surely Belichick is on a pedestal all his own?

People remember this quote from Jerry last season....."Jason needs to win some playoff games"
Even Stephen said earlier this year, they believe this team now has enough talent to take the next step. Other words, I'm pretty confident NFCGC is Garrett's floor for an extension.

Saints stuffed their running game (77 yards, 3.0 pc) and probably win that game if not for the ridiculous non-call late. The Cowboys game with the Rams wasn't as close as some have tried to pretend here. Safe to say, Jerry was disappointed and he's let JG know it with his contract status.

But yeah, the Hoodie took the boy genius to school.

I also said he can't coach the team as well.

I'd certainly be willing to discuss the player personnel assembled on this team vs any in the league. The GM has done a great job in that area.

Saying his contract had anything to do with Ram loss is noise.

As I’ve already said the GM chooses the coach, so if he rubbish then it’s down to the GM.
Picking the right coach is part of “ Building the team”.

What happened in 2015 when the QB went down? 4-12 What happened when the RB was out? 9-7 What happened when they didn't have a WR1? 3-5.

This coaching staff and team have proven they struggle to overcome just one key player and this team is getting ready to be the poster child for the Too Much to Too Few team.
Jimmy Johnson can walk on water in Cowboy folklore.

What happened when Emmitt missed the first 2 games of the '93 season?

0-2.

That point I did not dispute. He did choose and stick by Garrett, far longer than he should have.

Of course he wants him to succeed. Jerry would have looked foolish to extend him now only to have a tough season.

It’s a sound move for Jerry and the Cowboys but labeling it as a make or break lame duck season is totally manufactured. And simply not a fact.

Well, it could be a fact. I don't think we need to just dismiss that. I don't believe Jones has publicly promised Garrett more than this season, so this could be a make-or-break year. I wouldn't label it lame duck because that indicates, at least to me, that he's gone no matter what.

Here's what Jerry said in January on choosing not to extend Garrett then that I think presents both sides of it, where Jones both praises Garrett, but says the team needs to do better:

"None of that is anything that I would talk about in this forum in any way and so we won't get there," Jones told the station. "I think I've made clear how I feel about Jason in terms of where he is right now as far as our ability to help us win football games. I think if you look at what we've done over the last few years you'll see a pretty good winning record there. [But] it's not enough, not enough."

Now, the question is what is "enough"? Jones doesn't quantify it and I'm not sure it's quantifiable to him. At this point, I think we have to consider the possibilities that we could be worse than we were last year and Garrett could get extended or we could be better and Garrett could still end up being fired. I'm not going to spend too much time trying to puzzle it out because I can't pretend to fully understand Jones logic.

It's "born" from the fact that the owner willingly chose not to extend his head coach's contract. That happened outside of this forum.
He did that before and extended him. Garrett's not the first HC to coach in his contract year. More are fired before they get to that.

What will it say if we do sign all 3 on offense and still have an average to less than average offense with a top 5 rushing attack?

Would it possible lead to pointing more arrows at our QB?
Could and that's already happening with some but they don't have real options for the alternative. Prescott is far from my first choice but they could do worse as there are no guarantees with the QB's coming out in the next two drafts.

The fact is, and few seem to want to accept this, that running the offense through any RB, unless he's an intricate part of the passing game and not just dump offs, is bringing a knife to a gunfight.

In order for this team to do anything, the QB must rise to no worse than top 10 but preferably in the top 8. While I am not a Dakster, I do believe that can happen and many here do not. They're already throwing in the towel on him improving to that level.

I am all in on Prescott because I don't see another real option; however, I am 50/50 on making Cooper one of the top 5 paid WR's and not there with Elliott at all.
