For those of us under 35, are the Commanders a rival to you?

91 child here, i pretty much hate the eagles.

I actually, I hate the following teams more than I hate the Eagles. I should clarify by adding that, while I live in the Houston area, I vacation in NJ at the shore. So, I've been through Philly often, and most of my family are Eagles fans. So, I actually have a good understanding of Eagles fans.

Texans (their fans tend to be so fake and annoying)
The Steelers (history I guess, and annoyed that they have 6 when everyone I think they cheated against Seattle).
The Patriots
The Packers (because of Aaron Rodgers. I didn't mind Favre, but Rodgers is an awesome person)
Commanders
The Raiders (they might move up when they go to Vegas, but their fans I think rival Eagles fans)

Team I want to hate and see our rivalry renewed properly:

The San Francisco 49ers. It's been LONG overdue for us to play them in the playoffs. I really honestly hope that we get to play them in the playoffs this year. I personally think they'll win a wild card spot with Garroppolo, and I'd love (having had a bye) to play them in the playoffs.

There was a time in the 1970's and 1980's that the Deadskins were my most hated team. That sort of ended when Joe Gibbs left the first time. Now for me currently It's the Eagles. Maybe if they ever truly get good again I'll feel different.

I lived in northern Virginia for 6 years and you are right, there sometimes seemed to be even more Cowboys jerseys than Commanders jerseys. Washington D.C. has always been a hotbed of Cowboys fandom, not least because of the African-American community and how the Cowboys were one of the first teams to racially integrate while the Commanders were one of the last.
Yeah man I went to GMU and lived in the Chantilly/FFX area for a while and it’s honestly crazy how many rival fans there are there. My skins buddies get pissed about it all the time haha.

The Dak/Zeke era hasn’t been kind to skins nation and I’m hoping for more of the same lol.

Still a rival. Even in recent years when they didn't have good teams, the Commanders played over their heads against us. That's one of the things that make rivalries great.

During the Romo era for example, the offense was superior to the defense. But that script was flipped in games against the Skins, who always gave Romo fits and our defense usually had to save the day.
Hasslet’s double a gap blitz was something that Garrett could never figure out how to counter.

i was born in 86 so I have no memory of the Commanders hay day in the late 80s/early 90s.

They’ve never been good the same year as Dallas has that I remember. Always a 4-6 seed on the few years they did get in.

So I have no hatred towards them. Philly and the Giants on the other hand are a different story. As are GB and SF from the time in the 90s and Rodgers this decade.

Another team who I don’t have any care towards are the Steelers. The one meaningful game the two teams have played I remember was a 2nd half route in SB XXX
I was around in 80/90s and it was not a rival then, i think your thinking of 70's

Historically I consider it a rival (I'm 24). My dad tells me about the time Dallas come from behind to win in Roger's final season to make the playoffs. The Eagles and Giants have been a lot better since I became a fan (2001) but I do consider them our main rival. A few games that stick out in my mind:
2005- MNF up 13-0 and Santana Moss kills us. On the night the Triplets get into the ROH. Cost us a playoff spot.
2006- Commanders blocked a Vanderjagt kick and eventually won.
2012- Thanksgiving- RG3 killed us. I thought then and there he would own the division the next decade. Boy was I wrong.
2016- Dak and Zeke's first win as a Cowboys. Came from behind to avoid going 0-2. Changed the season.

I know Commanders won three of those games but Dallas usually dominates little brother.

I'm the same way and I'm well past 35. They're just not rivalries to me anymore. The 49ers and Commanders of today might as well be playing a different sport, that's how far removed they are from those of the 80s and 90s version. As far as the Steelers go, we still owe them one. I'll wait.

I’m 34 and the Commanders are still a big rival, but I definitely dislike the Eagles and Giants more. That could change if the Commanders become an actual consistent threat.

Grew up in the Bay Area hating the 49ers more than any other team. That’s no longer the case since that “rivalry” is pretty much dead by now.

For those of us over 35 the deadskins are only a rival for 2 weeks a year. I hope that doesnt change.

Born in 84 in northern Virginia. Both parents are from Texas and hardcore Cowboy fans.

So yes. I hate the Commanders. Social media is unbearable after they win. Especially if they beat us!

I am 39. I hate the Commanders and Joe Gibbs and that stinking "family, togetherness" crap they sold while being the freaking bums that are the Deadskins. I can't stand the Eagles and the Giants but there's no team that I hate more than the Commanders. They have always been that opposite of what they claim. Ugh I can't stand them.

It briefly flared up for about 2 years during RGIII and all his garbage and trademarking, but it died down about as quick as his stardom. It tried to again with Norman and Dez, but both of their play was declining pretty fast during those years.

It doesn't have to be about the team being good. I need villains to hate on a rival team, and they just haven't had any.
