He was drinking when he wrecked and killed his buddy. The guilt is literally killing him. Tough situation, a lot of us have driven drunk before.

I have never driven after drinking. Not even a buzz. I guess it depends how you were raised, old fellow, and what kind of role models you might or might not have.

My role model was you and all I learned was how to make toilet-shine, pa!
And you's said I's make the shiniest toilet-shine in the whole place!

You must have climbed all week to reach that pinnacle on the high road.
Silent, were you, as we reviewed what led this schlub to being shirtless and then having to be tased?
Oh, but he had a mental illness, you say in a shrill voice!
Dont you think that all idiots who resist and run from police and have to be tased are mentally ill at the time?
I guess the mental illness, too, led him to DUI, not have a license, not wear a seatbelt and to speed?? And kill a man?
I guess being shirtless mumbling to yourself is not a crime, but, matey, you want your kids or sweeties tripping over him when they leave a restaurant?
If have diagnosed mental illness. Great doctor!
What is your treatment plan?
Counseling then a relapse to psychosis or being drunk?
Why aren't you, his family and friends, those closest to him, alerting officials of his condition at the time?
Your kind wades into the crowd, shouts solutions and tries to shame those who ... look askance at fatally injurious car wrecks and then behavior usually left to those in the animal kingdom.
Enjoy your day of indignation, oaf, enjoy your high pedestal so you can preach to us.
But do not preach to us, preach to your newest project, a 300-pound man child who has a good lawyer and allows himself to be diagnosed by charlatans liked yourself. Then freedom!
You bought it. You are the keeper of Josh Brent, however he cooperates or does not with mental illness, a condition shared by most criminals at the moment just before capture.

Dry your eyes and go to him, doctor. Give him our best wishes but dont say everyone is automatically diagnosing him like you are.
I am withholding my laurels and palm leaves for the time....
You kind of went in and out of your shtick on this one Gimme. You need some "old boys" and "mums" to really sell it.

Most of us have gotten lucky our stupid decisions DIDNT kill someone.

Not everyone has been as lucky.

I’ve never done anything as stupid as driving drunk, let alone with someone else in the vehicle.

I hope Brent finds peace, but this “aw shucks” attitude over an action that killed another person is misguided.

Have said many, many times, every story has two sides. Amazing how fast we take a one-sided report and go with it as gospel w/o ever hearing the other side's version. Simple rule for from 20+ years, withhold judgment until you hear BOTH sides. Be surprised how a story changes with ALL the facts........

Actually every story has 3 sides. One side the other side and the truth. Carry on :D

Well folks it turns out Josh Brent wasnt drinking or using any drugs when he was arrested. Its interesting how many of you internet tough guys with stone hearts jumped all over this guy calling for him to be imprisoned, fired ect.......

Now that the true story comes out it seems quiet in here.

You all know who you are. You lashed out publicly towards a man who was suffering from a mental breakdown. How do you feel now that the big shirtless man at Wendy's was suffering form a mental illness?
I'd like to thing that this type of thing will cause some to give a fellow man the benefit of the doubt next time but unfortunately I doubt it. We have become a cold judgmental bunch who prefers to tear each other apart more than empathize with others struggles.

Arrest warrant withdrawn for ex-Dallas Cowboy Josh Brent

Current Dallas Cowboys scout and former defensive lineman Josh Brent is no longer facing arrest for his June 30 arrest.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, an arrest warrant for probation violation has been withdrawn. The reason why the warrant was withdrawn wasn't immediately made available, but Calvin Watkins of The Athletic reports that Brent tested clean for drugs and alcohol despite the initial report claiming he was intoxicated.

On the date in question, officers were called to the 800 block of MacArthur Boulevard, where a man was reportedly sitting in the grass and talking to himself. The officers determined the man, Brent, was drunk, and told him that he was going to be arrested on suspicion of public intoxication. He failed to cooperate, a tussle then ensued and Brent had to be tased in order to be subdued.

Brent reportedly admitted to police that he was drunk, when it appeared that he was actually suffering a mental breakdown. He is now undergoing treatment, and Watkins reports that the support from the Cowboys remains strong.
Good post.

So when the initial report came out the police report stated he was arrested under suspicion of public intoxication and there was a strong presence of alcohol on his breath, so I don't know why you're lashing out at poeple who were just stating what was known at the time comes from.............And I'm sure Jerry didn't make a phone call to the police chief and or Mayor to get some preferential treatment either, because that never happens, right???(ask Jussie Smollett)
Because people here obviously bought into the Fake News and at the end of the day it was all BS. I think a Lot of people/organizations need to be sued for some big time $, I’m sure Mr Brent could use the cash.

Mr Brent is a scout for the Dallas Cowboys I believe they have dental and vision. I will take some of that fake news money if anything.

No, hate crimes being reported and publicized are up. It used to be a dirty little secret no one talked about.
Not for anything but what the hell exactly is a hate crime? Crime is crime, Hate crime is just some bs that was thrown together to make someone happy. Are there not plenty of laws on the books to handle all types of crime? Do hate crimes have more severe penalty’s?
