I know ick...but that's as good an alternative behind Cowboys Oline.

Do you trust rookies and returning Vets?

Either way I don't trust Zeke.
Yeah, me neither.

I do like the potential of Pollard and Weber.

Your first paragraph just isn't true. Fans only care about what players make in reference to the salary cap, as bloated salaries hold a team back. Offhand, I doubt if more than maybe 10% of fans care about salaries on a personal level.

This is true. If there was no cap it would be reversed. Fans would want the owners to dig deep to keep the player.

That's supporting my point. Fans are not concerned w/ what players make on a personal level.

DLaw's agent said the Le'Veon Bell holdout was stupid. Bell forfeited the entire 14.5M Franchise Tag amount and still just got a contract that averages about 1 million less than Gurley's.

Bell was on the 2nd Franchise Tag. Gordon is just on the 5th year option.

Gordon only played 12 games in 2018.

In 2017 when he played 16 games, his rankings were:
Rush Yds 7th
Rec 8th
Rec Yds 7th

Career Rushing Average:
Gordon 4.0
Zeke 4.7
Gurley 4.4
Bell 4.3
Gordon is a good player, but he is well below what I would consider elite. He has only had one 1,000 yard season, and one season over 4 ypc.

Gordon is a back I would seriously consider not giving a second deal too. I wouldnt be staunchly against it because he hasnt had a huge workload. He is also starting to develop the utility that had Matt Forte playing at a high level through his second contract. But at the price it may cost, I dont know that he will bring that value to a team.

If I was SD, I would probably look to let him walk and replace him with a back picked in the first 3 rounds

Hopefully all teams start dealing harshly with players that hold out on the 5th year option or the first year of being Franchised.

The system will become a mess if teams start caving into these types of holdouts.

When it's a 2nd Franchise like Le'Veon Bell then I somewhat understand; although, Bell lost significant money skipping the year.

Zeke was going to do that this offseason until he ended up sitting in front of Goodell once again.

And that will be the case next year, too.

I think the Cowboys want to use him up the next two years like they did Murray, then let him go.

No, he was not. There is not legit evidence of that.

Stephen Jones also said last year that a WR by committee would work and they didn't feel they needed to put money into the position given how they were set up offensively. Then 4 months later they traded a #1 pick and are about to make said WR one of the highest paid in football.

So frankly, what Stephen Jones says publicly should largely be taken with a grain of salt.

No, Stephen Jones was in on the bidding for WR Sammy Watkins but wisely didn't force the issue and drastically over-pay.

I listen to most interviews with Stephen Jones and I don't remember him saying that. Not in that context.

Chargers are notorious for being stingy so I think they won't cave right away.

I will say they the NFL allowed in the CBA for drafted rookie players the ability to ask for a new deal after their 3rd year of their mandated 4 year ELC. I can't blame guys for asking for some security, especially for a violate position like RB.

First rounders sort of get the shaft in regards to a 2nd contract where the team can exercise a 5th year on their contract which pays them based off position and draft position. MG would of been a FA had he been drafted in round 2 and either slapped with the tag or able to sign a long term deal elsewhere. Now on the flip side they get more money and guaranteed money from being drafted in round 1.

Now, we'll just see who caves first.

1st rounders get paid much more on their rookie contracts

2016
Wentz 4 years, 26.7M
Dak 4 years, 2.7M

I mentioned that in my post.

Not to mention the first round has a huge difference between top 3-5 pay compared to 28-32 overall pay.

Melvin Gordon got a 4 year, 10.7mil contract. The 5th year for him is over 5.6mil.
